WHERE IS OUR MONEY??

The bleeding of Air Seychelles

There has been a lot of debate following our recent articles on Air Seychelles. There seems to be some ‘agents’ adamant in spreading confusion about how a parastatal company should be run. Even to the point of advocating that it is the sole prerogative of the President to decide what to do as he has the ‘mandate’!!

We will be starting a series of articles under the headline “Where is our money?” to put the spotlight on all the white elephants, failed experiments, spillage & wastage that helped bury this country into the deep financial hole that it finds itself in today. But do our leaders have the humility to look back on the past blunders to try and do better? On the contrary, judging from the series of howlers that this current administration champions, we are following a path of arrogant self fulfilment - led by a ‘Pathetic Man of the People’.

It is high time we educate our people that a government, headed by an executive body is responsible its people, the taxpayers. It is the taxpayers who are ultimately the rightful collective ‘owners’ of this country with all its assets. So it is a god given right for them to seek answers to questions. It is their fundamental right under our constitution to demand that the elected office bearers are held accountable. Clean government is not one that has a modus operandi modelled on ‘manboulouk’ deals. He wanted to be judged by his actions and this is a far cry from the transparency, accountability and good government that was promised. Our current ‘leader’ and his bunch of ‘yes men’ are solely motivated by greed, backed by a massive propaganda machine that is in overdrive to mask all their incompetence. We are being fed daily doses of hot air. Big words, borrowed jargons, ‘creolised’ English words to sound pompous! And yet very little substance!

Let’s take for instance the case of the monsters called ‘parastatals’ created during the dictatorial one-party era. Today, they are being kept on life support just to please a chosen few. They are bleeding to death as they burn huge holes in the pockets of us taxpayers. Air Seychelles, IDC, Seypec, SMB/STC have all been under the microscope recently. Audits were supposed to be carried out but we have yet to see the results of such findings. Is it because the time is still not right to privatise them? No big fish has stepped in yet with cases of dollars to line the pockets of those at the top?

Here is a case in point. Last year there was a lot of hoo-ha in the national assembly over a Sr. 30 odd million bailout plan for Air Seychelles. We were told our national airline was bankrupt and needed protection. Today we see a massive building at the airport about to open its doors that has cost the airline almost the same amount that was sought for the bailout! They are really taking all of us for fools these soi-disant ‘brainiacs’ who have been entrusted to run the affairs of this country. That’s precisely what you get from communist-trained economists who have become ‘plus royalist que le roi’

Until when are we going to continue taking all this lying down?
The new Air Seychelles building that cost the taxpayers a 'bailout' plan late last year, while the airline is on life support...

TIKLO-

Seychelles is Bankrupt add that to your file.

You seem to have a fixation with Great Britian when assessing issues that concern Seychelles. It seems the colonialist did a real number on your mind.

Catch up, get with the times. The problems Seychelles face today, TIKLO, are problems our children will have to deal with and pay off, not you, Rene, or Michel.

Face it TIKLO, your lot are a bunch of failures of international rating. The world knows it! Now its just the districts that have to know it.

The sooner you face that, the sooner we can get Seychelles on the right track and protect our people, instead of enslaving them perpetually in chains of servitude and failure brought about by the gang you defend.

I am still waiting for your reply as to why SBC does not allow the viewing of divergent views in their broadcast as required under the Constitution.

Tiklo, please tell us who you personally think is responsible for the lack of economy control that has lead to the financial situation we are in.

To put it another way: The day a car salesman convinces you to buy that penis-lengthener you so 'need' by taking up a huge loan that leaves you up to your neck in water, who is responsible when it goes bollocks? The car salesman, the bank you've loaned badly invested money for or you Tiklo?

Please tell us that and stop trying to make diversions as it really makes you look stupid.

And Tiklo, if you absolutely have to compare Seychelles with a country, then do so with one that is comparable with Seychelles. Read the August 1986 edition of the National Geographic and you may, if your brain capacity is capable that is, understand what I mean after you've drawn some parallels. There is an article there about Argentina which back then was trying to recover from a mess caused my incompetent politicians who had used money, all loans meant to develop the country, on the military and other places that didn't return anything to the economy. In other word, money wasted on white elephants, bribes etc. Sound familiar?

The Seychelles is part of the World Gloval Village whether you like it or not. On some blog the other day, certain bloggers were complaining about young girls in gay abundance in and around Victoria selling themselves as Prostitutes [the world's oldest Profession]. Yesterday in Gay Paris, a sex scandal has threatened to engulf France's World Cup team after two of its leading players Franck Ribery and Sidney Govou, were questioned about under-age Paris Prostitutes operating from the Cafe Zaman nightclub and the pimp was referred to as Abou Ouboyyo from Morocco. You see Patrick X to draw my parallels, I do not have to refer to 1986 when I can draw them from here and now.

As for Seychelles' biggest "Prophet of Doom" in the person of Christopher Gill, we are still waiting for Seychelles to tumble down that so called "black hole precipice." To think that it has been coming for the last 30 years.

And by the way Chris, a life long Friend of mine arrived back from Seychelles was telling me that Seychellois are selling land and not the Government. He made this comment that bann gran Savant ki croire ki zot touzour trois pas en avant are actually mongrel dogs making noises as they keep chasing their own tails round and around and around.

So Chris "problems our children will have to deal and pay for it" is a line used by every single Opposition Leaders from Australia -London all the way to Canada have over used that phrase. Most Seychellois Professionals and Government Department Heads have been trained and schooled in Great Britain and they do things like they do in England whether you like it or not.

Chow from the West Coast where we grow the best Mangoes by the Morel Brothers from up Carnavon way along the Indian Ocean Drive. And if Seychelles is not up to scratch/bankrupt like you bann grand Malin put it, do come this way for there are no shortage of anything what so ever. You can even badmouth the Prime Minister or anybody that is anybody until you are blue in the face, and nobody will give a hoot. They will even say to themselves - "What a Wanker!!." So there you are Christopher.

I think Tiklor should have his eyesight checked as his parallels are about as parallel as the path of a falling comet to the horizon.

Nice try by the way Tiklo, but guess what? Nobody's buying your crap. As to Abbou Oubboyo I say 'Al bous ou boyo' unless you have anything better to come with that the usual crap that you seem to leave behind you everywhere you pass. No wonder that mango farm does well considering all the manure you leave there.

TIKLO the Butcher's chief lackey says that "Most Seychellois Professionals and Government Department Heads have been trained and schooled in Great Britain and they do things like they do in England whether you like it or not".

TIKLO have yourself check ASAP because Alzheimer's is setting in & with prolong exposure to the butcher's cigar smoke is slowly affecting your sanity.

Let's start scrutinising PL echelons from The President, VP, down to it's cabinet of Ministers, to the chief of staff, to government departmental heads and tell us how many of them has had their training & schooled in the UK as you proclaimed.

THE NEED FOR AN INDUSTRY COUNCIL

The necessity of an effective Industry Council system arises out of the need of putting controls other than government alone upon economic life. The interventionist of government so far ,are wasteful and represent bureaucratic exercise of power and should be superseded by more democratic procedures.

WHAT'S AN INDUSTRY COUNCIL? It's a public body intermediate between government and private enterprises made up of democratic chosen representatives of employers and workers of a given industry, who, guide, but not dictated to,by government officials, are empowered to fix wages, prices ,work conditions and so forth, for their industry, for the entire economy of the Nation.

FUNCTION AND OBJECTIVE:The different entreprises would send representatives to a NATIONAL ECONOMY CONGRESS which would be also presided over by government representatives to guide,to protect and see that industry practices injustice upon others.

Moreover,it also releases government of burdens, which government in view of absence of intermediary organs standing between itself and private enterprises has been assume over fields which because of their purely occupational characters, are not within the proper competence of governmet.

Note,an Industry Council like all other bodies though, which stand between individuals and government occupies a lower place than that of government. The latter in turn uses its lawful authority to guide, and as need arises,to ratify the procedures of Industry Council authority.

Hence,it is organically united to the government and recognized by it.But the special benefit that such a Council procures is subordinate to greater public good of which the government is the guardian.

QUESTION OF AUTHORITY:The organized"society" sytem advocated here proposes no dictatorship of any kind.In reality dictatorship requires a centralized exercise of power whereas, the kind of organized sytem which is being urged here ,allows for widest exercise of democratic liberty under a decentralized regime of administration.

The ideal to be striven toward is to prevent those who exercises authority from abusing it and yet to confer upon them sufficient authority to ensure order and progress.

Fair and regulated competition is beneficial to all,as unbridled competition is injurious to all. Thus it belongs to the COUNCIL to fix those conditions.

Troukler,

I fully agree with your idea of an Industry Council in its proper sense. However, the Government of the day has to be serious and sincere to ensure such council is free from 'pressure above' as is the case with the courts in Seychelles at present !
