RE: LETTER OF OBJECTION TO NOTICE OF APPLICATION OF CITIZENSHIP OF DR.KANAGAPPAH VIVIGANANDAN OF MONT FLEURI, MAHE

Dear Sirs/Madam:

I am writing pursuant to the notice in the Nation June 17th, 2010, Section 5(2) or Section (6) Notice of Intention to apply for naturalisation of this individual as a Seychellois, under the following objection and grounds:
1. The applicant’s entry into Seychelles, was to conduct work for the Ministry of Health, as such, the applicant came to Seychelles for the specific purpose of work under GOP.
2. Since then, the Government of Seychelles has paid the applicant adequate consideration and monies, for his professional services and the request for Citizenship is wholly unjustifiable.
3. The special circumstances cited for citizenship by the applicant is: “...that my continued medical services as senior medical officer for the last six (6) years inspires me to share my knowledge and experience in this Nation as a citizen”.
4. The special circumstances grounds is completely erroneous, as the applicant under GOP and contract with the Ministry of Health, can continue to be inspired to share his knowledge and experience, as long as the Ministry pays him.

Furthermore, the applicant does not have to be a citizen to share his experience and knowledge in the medical field. As a doctor, he is obligated to impart and use his knowledge for the benefit of mankind.

It is for these reasons, which are erroneous and beyond absurd, that the applicants request must be denied.

Sincerely,

Christopher Gill

Sir you here on a GOP you are not legible for citizenship. We thank you for your service but this service you gave you were paid for now is time to pact up go back to India your people would better need your service and experience than we Seychellois and the same length there are plenty of qualified Seychellois working abroad who would like to bring their experiences to help their own people ,PP just have to offer them the same salary as you Expats are earnig then they be glad to serve to.

We can always renew his GOP if he likes, and he can stay another 6 years.

Nothing wrong with that, if he would like to impart knowledge.

But on the other side of the equation, he is probably keeping Doctor salaries too low for Seychellois to take up post. So he is an obstacle to the growth and development of a proper medical facility, if you will.

Amazing!

sure he will get his citizenship, that's another vote for pp. How about giving the pirates citizenship

Pirates jailed in Seychelles prison will have our passports to.Under international law a person may ask for asylum if his country of origin is in war etc.So just after thier sentences they can do so.

You folks are scary.

Everywhere in the world work permit time is accepted for citizenship qualification. It is called "gainfully occupied" and means they are contributing.

Many Seychellois have got citizenship of my country in dishonourable ways: sham political asylum, living off benefits, fraudulent marriages of convienience.

In my country we also have many illitrate people who speak like you. They have even more reason to be annoyed with these scroungers. You know what? We defend your sorry arses when we hear them say this kind of tripe!

You are wrong. Most places in the world especially in small countries like Switzerland and Monaco you cannot get citizenship by working in the country. You get citizenship based on your ancestry with limited exceptions for naturalization.

While you are right that this approach to citizenship through jobs is the norm in the United States and Australia which are immigrant nations founded on the principle that they should be a refuge for immigrants, our country was on the other hand was founded on the principle of Seychelles for Seychellois the "native" indigenous people of Seychelles.

Lastly, if some Seychellois have violated Australian laws that does not give Australians or any other foreigner the right to violate our laws in Seychelles or to own our country. You worry about what goes on in your country and we will worry about what goes on in ours.

Seychelles is the Seselwa Rasin homeland. It belongs only to Seselwa Rasin and not to foreigners and Fabrike.

To A real Austrialian,

The riot of Australian against Indian students in 2007 did show that Real Australian like you, are also concern of the invasion of their land by foreigners.

And one question Sir if you a real Autralian as you said,i hope then you are an Aborigine ,they are if i am right real Australian.

Absolute rubbish.

In Switzerland you can get citizenship through working there. In Monaco for pretty much any reason the Prince sees fit.

Jean D'Arc, for one we are not proud of the ignoramus junkies who attack Indian students. They do not represent the majority of Australians. And secondly when you call them Australians do you mean Aboriginial as well?

From what little I know of Seychelles, sorry to burst your bubble. There is no international diplomatic or legal recognition of indigenous people. There are only Seychelles citizens.

Seychelles was founded as a refuge for people fleeing pre and post revolution France. And again for emancipated slaves under English colonial rule.

The proportional inward and outward annual migration has remained fairly constant over the past 100 years.

To Anonymous - Rubish:

The only person spouting rubish so far on this issue is you. Not only must one be well integrated into Swiss culture to be even considered for naturalization there is a voting requiremnt by all citizens in some cantons.

Here is a quotation from the Swiss National website on obtaining swiss citizenship:

"People who have been resident in Switzerland for twelve years – the years spent in this country between the completed 10th and 20th years are counted double for this purpose – may apply for naturalisation. Our office examines whether applicants are integrated in the Swiss way of life, are familiar with Swiss customs and traditions, comply with the Swiss rule of law, and do not endanger Switzerland's internal or external security. In particular, this examination is based on cantonal and communal reports. If the requirements provided by federal law are satisfied, applicants are entitled to obtain a federal naturalisation permit from the Federal Office for Migration.

Naturalisation proceeds in three stages. Thus the federal naturalisation permit only constitutes the Confederation's "green light" for the acquisition of Swiss nationality. However, the cantons and communities have their own, additional residence requirements which applicants have to satisfy. Swiss citizenship is only acquired by those applicants who, after obtaining the federal naturalisation permit, have also been naturalised by their communities and cantons. As a rule, there is no legally protected right to being naturalised by a community and a canton."

So before you start calling what other people have said rubish do your research.

Further response to Anonymous - Rubish:

You are also wrong that the rights of indigenous people, and by implication Seselwa Rasin rights, are not recognized by international treaty. Check the UN website for the relevant convention on the rights of indigenous people or you can find it on the Mouvman's FBook page. Seychelles is a signator.

Secondly, it matters nothing that Seychelles was formed by political exiles or any number of immigrants. All indiginous people migrated to their lands, originally from Africa, for essentially the same reasons our ancestors came to Seychelles - to escape political persecution, seeking religious freedom or simply seeking economic opportunity.

It is irrelevant that we came by ship while older indigenous groups migrated over milenia over glaciers that connected our current continents. What does matter is that we came to unoccupied land. We occupied it. Made ourselves into one distinct people, with a distinct language and a distinct culture and a distinct people - the Seselwa Rasin people.

Then we fought to be recognized as the indigenous owners of Seychelles by throwing the British out of our country. We fought for Sesel Pou Seselwa.

We did not fight so those buying our citizenship from corrupt politicians can claim our country. We did not fight for Ramados to take our country or Krejcir or Jeyasingh to say they are Seselwa. that is not Sesel Pou Seselwa.

We fought for Seselwa Rasin the, native peolple as described in Mancham's independent speech, to own and control our homeland. We fought for Sesel Pou Seselwa the founding principle of our motherland.

So we do not need an Australaian or any other foregner telling us who or what we are in our own homeland. We know who we are. We know a real Seselwa Rasin when we see and meet one. We will tell you who and what we are.

So we could not care less what you think on this issue. Your opinion on this point, and your opinion that our status and identity is "rubish" is simply irrelevant to us Rasin.

Sesel Pou Seselwa!!

IYou wrong Seychelles was founded by French settlers who brought with them African slaves freed from ships sailing to America. That how Seychellois was born. The first French was not an immigrant or doprtee but a governor sent by French government to offically annex the islands.
We not Swiss nor from Monaco we are Seychellois with its own rules of law ,We will not copy others we will take what is good from countries which have had experiences in this matter than set up our own rules.
