The Seychelles Column - By Christopher Gill

SEYCHELLES FOR ARABS

Sheikh Khalifa - New ruler of Seychelles?

Bougla Pe Dir Sesel Pou Arab

While the election commission was grappling with the reality of the Constitution of Seychelles being abrogated and the imminent death of the Third Republic under PL, State House announced late last week that Abu Dhabi government officials were in Seychelles to present us a master plan for the smallest capital in the world, the capital of Seychellois national pride, dignity, identity…..Victoria.

The Delegation Was Bigger Than a Football Team

Minister Morgan and Mr Falah Mohamed with guests in a souvenir photograph at yesterday’s signing ceremony

The delegation James Michel received on our behalf was bigger than a football team. It included the Abu Dhabi Director General of Planning Authority and a plethora of underlings.

Mr Falah Mohamed during his meeting with President Michel
Khalifa's puppet

It was an amazing display of the Michel’s friends coming to his aid, as he has forsaken our own people  into contributing in a valuable manner, on the development of Victoria.

Messrs Morgan and Falah Mohamed exchange documents after signing the agreement
Minister Morgan signing documents with Abu Dhabi representative

Expo 2020?

The Seychelles 2020 Expo logo
What ever happened to the Sr. 22 Million Expo 2020? Was not that the expo of all expos that showed the new developments for the city of Victoria? I visited the International Conference Center where the expo was hosted a couple of months ago. All the makkets and props were stuffed in a corner collecting dust. Sr. 20 Million in expenses and now it all collects dust. No follow up. Just a fancy show, parade everyone in, lights, action, put on a show, then puff, shut it down, collect the money, run like hell! And don't forget Danny Faure just went to the Assembly to ask for some Sr. 2 plus million rupees to pay for the Expo electricity bill. Talk about taking the Seychellois people for fools!

Michel & Faure hard at work spending tax-papers money.

What About Qualified Seychellois Doing The Master Plan?

Why has James Michel not had qualified Seychellois contribute to a master plan and do it? That may sound like a hair brained idea to Mr. Michel, but it sounds like a reasonable and highly plausible idea to many Seychellois. We are not all meant to carry guns and shoot at our fellow brothers and sisters.

Michel - If Seychellois are not good at Planning, how about an Arab President as well?

Some of us, can actually develop a master plan. Some could probably do it better then Abu Dhabi. One question though, I must ask Mr. Michel, what makes Abu Dhabi people qualified to do this job and Seychellois, not? You know, I use to write papers for these chaps in university. I am a Seychellois. Surely, we have capable Seychelles who can do this job? Lablache? Payet? Didon? Ernesta? Houreau? Chaka? Dogley? Malvina? St. Ange? Pool? Banane? Michel? Herminie? Decomarmond? Prea? Pragassen? Chung- tave? Dhanjee? Mancienne? Bibi? Even some Savy have brains. The list goes on and on. You get my point Mr. Michel?

Seychelles For Sale To Arabs

I have been receiving reports that numerous properties are up for grabs by Abu Dhabi in the coming weeks. This includes ex-Beachcomber Resort Praslin location which was stolen from the Masons, as well as St. Anne Resort as we must not forget that Francis Savy received the island for one rupee, courtesy of Stepdad Albert Rene and one Joel Morgan then Minister responsible. Raffles Praslin is also up for grabs. The Victoria Waterfront property which was highly marketed at the 2020 Expo and which had been promised to the likes of the Seychelles Yacht Club and Marine Charter for further development is now earmarked for Arab investors.  Properties all over South Mahe, even the defunct Emirates Cap Ternay Project is soon to find new Arab owners.  The list is daunting. What exactly is going through James Michel mind to sell interests in Seychelles to basically one family and country? Is he of sound mind?

Beautiful Cap Ternay - soon to be in Arab hands

Desperate Men Take Desperate Measures

Mr. Michel recently took over the Tourism portfolio. But he has not done much with it and we have not seen him do much with it except to increase State House' travel budget at the expense of taxpapers money. It is depressing to say the least. If anything, he has helped to destroy Tourism since he took over. It has been in my opinion, a little like the boy taking a toy and smashing it into a wall because he did not know how to wind it up. To make Tourism work, all players need to be engaged in a real way, and the playing field must not be said to be level, but it must actually be so.

Our most important Ministry needs a leader with vision, not a President who thinks he knows it all. Why does he not simply hand over the tourism portfolio over to Alain St. Ange who is doing all the work anyway? Surely St. Ange cannot do any worse than Michel.

Alain St. Ange - the defacto Tourism Minister

More Desperate Moves

Surprisingly, many people do not know that Mr. Michel has taken over the portfolio for Planning, Lands and Land Use and Habitat. It is here where, we must be afraid, be very afraid, because Mr. Michel will sell anything he can likely, under his “Sesel Pou ARAB”- policy!

But Michel's know-it-all and Arab-loving policies will surely backfire one day in the future as the Seychellois people have been watching the Arab Spring with great passion and are simply tired of being lied and manipulated.  The death of Gadhafi on Thursday is a grim reminder of what happens to despotic and corrupt leaders who believe a country, its people and its resources belong to them.

Just remember the trick statement he made when he took office: “Judge me by my actions” and then he said: “I am President of all Seychellois”.

I guess a lot of passports will be sold in UAE over the coming months.

People of Seychelles, those in SPPF PL, do something about your leader before it is too late!

Seselwa Unite!

Sesel Pou Seselwa!

May God Bless All Freedom Loving Seychellois!

Who gave and what right consitutional right has Pp to just give a foreign country the right to make a master plan for us?
Has Pp getit yet, stop selling our patrimony?Does Michel want to see us on the strrets like In Lybia to get the message? We must stop Pp and those Arabs dospots from raping our soveriegnty, and redicule our people?Seychellois do not have anything in common with Arabs.
Time to topple Pp by massive streets protests and if protest is not enough than he deservse the same faith as Gadahfi.

Time for a peoples' Revolution.

Michel is taking the people for fools and in his little half-brain , he thinks that-as long as Seychellois just complain but do not react they can continue the selling out.It is time to take the bull by its horn, let stop PP right now.
Seychellois are not only losing their country but their dignity thanks to the bandits regime that claims to represent us.Pp stooges are feeling small when they conpire to sell the people's patrimony in a hand-basket for the crumbs Pp throws them.Their biggest accomplishment besides the wealth they amassed through corruption and cronysm is feeling important parading with the butcher. The time has come for the stooges to come forward to confess and abandone Michel before they fill jail ot become fugitives.

The only thing that can stop the butcher and his ilks is people mass portests,we cannot wait until the next election to act by then we will be completely turned in to salvery of Arabs despots.

let us get ready for massive protests now,Enough is 3enough time for actions.

Where did you get this doggy style photo of James and Danny ? It is X-rated and this is a family blog.

Weekly also mentioned the sale of our land to Arabs, as well as the illegal sale of Maison Du Peuple to Danny Faure and Parti Lepep, when this was a gift of the Algerian Government to the people of Seychelles. I guess Danny and James think Seychelles and its people belong to them, so they can buy and sell us whenever they feel like it.

I just hope the people wake up from their deep anger one day and put a couple of bullets through their skulls just like the Libyan rebels did to brother Gadafi. Now that would be joy for celebration and I wonder how Onezine and SBC would cover that story.

It is time for a Seychelles revolution just like Arab spring.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: As long as we allow James Michel and his gang of thieves to take us for monkeys, they will continue to take us as monkeys. Where in the world are people given shit water to drink and the same people then turn around and say thank you and vote for the same government?
Seselwa inn fini ganny beze. Unless we wake up, James Michel will continue to screw us back and front and he'll soon get his arab friends to join in the orgy.

With our little town, the size of a village in any european country, James Michel has found nobody else that could plan it but his arab friends. Everything now has to come from our mainland UAE.
Seychellois wake up ans smell the coffee before it's too late.

Who gives a baboon's ass about James Michel's so-called book?
How does this change our life here?
Whose idea was it to have this circus? I'm told it's the frenchman Legal that James Michel appointed as seychelles ambassador in China.
Esparon better start working on having an arabic translation and Morel a french one. Then we'll move to Nourice in South Africa and Adrienne in India.Soon our president will be known all over the globe. Quite a feat as not even Albert Rene wrote a book.

The moral decadence prevalent in this autocratic regime and its stooges cannot be measure by conventional methods. One can even call it a one-aprty state but rather a one-man-absolute-dictatorship becuase under Butcher Pp is non-existence Michel is one and all just aas Pp is both the party and the state.

We probably must do like many other countires e.g Indonisia wher lands aquisition is forbbiden by law and of course all those illegal deals the Butcher has unillaterally and illegally gifted to Khalifa and clans and other foreigners to the likes of Sulivan,Siva and so on must be revoked.
Our soveiregnty is in jeopardy,as well as the dignity of our people.
It seems to me there is only one way to stop Pp folies that is mass protests from University students, unemployed which is a results of Michel politics of neo-colonization,teachers,bus drivers, famers, drug addcits also victims of PP folies, schools childrens ,everybody must get to gether to say enough is enough and together we will dethroned this monkey and his clans once and for all.
Time for a revolution.

Gilliar,

You are not only disgusting. You are so pathetic it is beyond a joke.

What I find disturbing is the fact that we do not have the faintest of clue as to how many Seychellois Voters you represent, and yet the Electoral Commission has got you involved to sit on the round Table.

President Michel is feeling so bloody sorry for these so called Leaders that he is bending backwards to accomodate you bunch of Losers where mediocrity is the norm and EXCELLENCE the EXCEPTION.

You all deserve a good kick on the back side. Arrrhhhh wee Signeur.

I eprsonally have a clue.It is more than three hundreds heads who attended RAM comic show in Sulivan's garden,it is more than the 17.000 who spoiled their ballots after SFP asked them to do so.
Sitting with Gappy to hear his propsal does not mean accepting what he propose,it rather give oppostion leaders an opportunity to hear what Gappy has on offer. If he tries to fake he will be exposed as always unstil pressure break him down like it is breaking PP.The Opposition has supporters,Gappy does not if he Fake he will feel the heat in his ass to.

Back to James Michel's "book".I hope that the chinese version explains what his english ersion did not: example, how could he be sleeping around with a girl half his age whilst he was still married to Ninette, how his son Jude was shot dead, what role he played in the disappearances and other murders that have happened during the past 40 years since he "liberated" us in 1977.The truth must be told.

Anonymous said...

The truth about Michel's son's death will be told in the zulu version of the book and his sleeping around in the urdu version. He plans to tell us about the other murders and disappearances in a special publication in tagalog. So keep watching this space.

Anonymous said...

But seriously, people. Do you think that there are people out there who wants to read about the "struggle" of a half illiterate buffoon who now wants to pull all the cover over to him and give the impression that he's been leading the "struggle" against "colonialists" all along? I suppose that albert Rene was only his disciple in all this? Please shoot me and make it fast!

Anonymous said...

Really to say no,not even his ilks have bought any copy. But you know Michel holds hundred of titles he probably looking forward to be the most prominent Seychellois author in our history.Guy lione was the last known Seychellois author Michel wants this title. He should name his next book -a criminal mind,or the A,B,C of a criminal,or the state fo mind of a killer.

Baboons have more brains than James Michel. The man is the biggest idiot in the Indian Ocean. Who cares about his book in English, Chinese or Creole? He thinks the Seychellois people gives a damn about him and that he lords over all of us in his fiefdom. Someone should put an end to his miserable life just like the rebels just did to Gaddafi.

All this for a so-called "book" written by Gilbert Pool who was sunsequently rewarded with his circus of "Expo 2020" on which he made millions. All this is proof that stroking the backs of buffoons has its rewards. Unfortunately, we end up paying for this folly.

What is happening in Seychelles is a clear strategy of James Michel in the parliamentary election? With a one party assembly his folly of Selling Seychelles to Arabs can go on with impunity because there will not be any opposition members in the assembly to speak out. So with his stooge undemocractic parliament he can do as he pleases. Remember once upon a time Gaddaffi was treating his people in the same way. I hope James Michel was watching CCTV in china to see how his friend who showed no mercy of his people was begging for mercy and pleaded for his human rights to be respected. What happened his plead fell on deaf ears? This is what is called the law of Karma. You reap what you sow. This terrible tragedy should be a lesson for all these arrogant leaders of the world that steal election to abuse their illegitimate power than they had acquired through fraud and corruption and intimidation of their people. Not long ago Gaddafi said to the world that My people love me all. Look at what happened to someone who claimed to be loved by all his people. Remember that James Michel is the self proclaimed the man of the people. Yet he his serving all the most beautiful places to his Arab friend of Abu dabi. What happened in Libya could happened any where in the world no manner the size of the country? When the people frustrations build up to a level of deep anger no army would be able to stand in their way. Gaddafi had an opportunity to die in dignity but his pride and arrogance got the better of him. James Michel also can have a peaceful transition if he decides to listen to the Seychelloise people who in their great majority despise him because the majority of the people would never elect him as a leader in a free and fair election.

Anonymous said...

He is a Cuban trained Ugandan. He is not an ingenious Seychelloise. He is good in using intimidation to scare people. Seychelloise should say enough to these dictator who thinks that being a leader you have to trick your way to power. They will all end up like their brother who died in a hole and begging for clemency when dead stared at him straight in the face. These all the false gods.

Anonymous said...

We do not have a good opposition party,we have to be very careful with the protest idea.Opposition in Seychelles are very divided and cannot be trusted see all the mess we are in.Removing a dictator or whatever will not solve the problem urgently, many life are at risk and it cost life we have to be very careful, all these countries that had have these protest many people had lost their life and their problem are still a long way to solve, because there are many things that come with change. In my opinion Seychelles are not ready for any protest,we might have change for the better or for the worst.Let us who beleive in GOD pray and GOD will bring the perfect justice. Our country are very, very weak where calamity, protest, disaster occur we must be very wise. What are happening in these big country does not mean that we should follow. We have now lots of unsolve problem, even for our own security,it's a fact.No one know what a protest might bring peaceful whatever it's very hard to underestimate the effect that it might cause.People are very dangerous now adays.Let us be wise.

Anonymous said...

Did you say pray? I suppose that you're somebody who reads the bible as well. You would not have failed to read in there:AIDE-TOI ET LE CIEL T'AIDERA. In short, it means that you cannot sit and wait for miracles. If we want our country to change for the better, we have to initiate the change. As simple as that. With or without opposition.

Anonymous said...

I do not have anything against praying, but let's get real. If you're dying and you just lock yourself in your house, refuse all medication, and just pray. Do you seriously think that you're suddenly going to be healed? We all stopped believing in fairy tales a long long time ago. Wake up Seselwa. We do not need any opposition to fight for us. If anything, it's time that we fought our own battles.Politicians are all looking after their own interests. Those who are in power are trying their best to stay there and those who are not want to get there, by hook or by crook.

In Timbuktu maybe???

“First and foremost Jean Paul Isaac and Gill are not leadership material so before we go any further please stop with this “future leader” crap! That’s like the pre 1977 years of James Mancham and David Joubert all over again!
We can send him to be in charge of the rats at l’il Ses if he’ll accept the job!
This man and his leader have been fooling you all on here with their fake profiles – a phrase that they actually invented on their blog accusing everyone else of it! You of course will take in any shit that comes out of their mouths because you are anti-Pp!
Jean Paul Isaac has never seen the entrance of a college or university let alone know how to spell them!
His arrogance has got way over his head that he thinks he is the most educated man in Seychelles and that he can put any other politician down – what a little prick!
And how about Gill? Has anyone every asked the question?
He attended university in California and also studied in England then for someone who is so anti communist and Chinese, he went across the world to study in China! What happened couldn’t he do that course in England or USA where he previously studied?

All I’m asking is for “our so-called future leaders” to give more details about their qualifications – the fact that they base so much emphasis on politician’s education or lack of it!
Remember; SFP strives for transparency so let’s start from the top – LEAD BY EXAMPLE!
Remember also: Jeanne d’Arc, Gill and Jean Paul a.k.a. Johnny are forever denigrating our president’s level of education so this is their opportunity to show us theirs!
Remember too; SFP is always denigrating our ministers’ Cuban and communist education yet both SFP leaders are claiming to have studied in CHINA – Now they have even made a u-turn and are saying that China has a better level of education than the west so are they now acknowledging our Chinese educated Seychellois graduates?

Like someone on here rightly said; but yea but no…

And you the author: The word idiot pales in comparison to describing you!
My freedom is of no concern to you – you are cordially invited to come and make your “Arab Spring” so that you can lock me up…but be prepared for a rude awakening! This is no North Africa or the Middle East!
My contributions, whether they are of any substance or not I don’t give a shit. I am here to expose the phoniness and lies of Gill and Jean Paul a.k.a. Johnny and the likes of you and I don’t give a toss how you see it!
And; Jean Paul Isaac’s lack of education can never be blamed on anyone but himself! If the man is too self centred and deluded that he believes he is a born genius and that he’s got it all without having to go through the gruelling task of higher education and just pick one to his fancy online for his CV and post it on his face book page then I have every right to question it’s authenticity as he has made himself a public figure who have it in his mind that he is the best thing Seychelles will ever see!

Furthermore take a good look around you before you question the lack of education that this government and ANY previous SPPF government have provided to our people! Question your own education first then tell me where you got it and explain how since 1977 Seychelles have had more academics of all creed indiscriminately compared to when one had to be white and of “proper” background to be a doctor, lawyer, accountant, architect etc. You my dear is talking crap!

Hey Asshole,

Why don't you go fuck yourself?

At least Gill and Isaac both have degrees and studied overseas. After all your rants and raves, can you please tell us the qualification of your great leader James Michel?

Michel did not even finish school and how he qualified to be a "teacher" is beyond me. The man worked as a clerk for Cable & wireless, and then took up an AK-47 and followed Albert Rene on his path to destroying freedom and democracy in Seychelles.

So before you open your trap about Gill or Isaac, tell Michel to show us his degree from communist school China.

To the ignorant blogger who wrote:

"Furthermore take a good look around you before you question the lack of education that this government and ANY previous SPPF government have provided to our people! Question your own education first then tell me where you got it and explain how since 1977 Seychelles have had more academics of all creed indiscriminately compared to when one had to be white and of “proper” background to be a doctor, lawyer, accountant, architect etc. You my dear is talking crap!"

In response my dear, please tell us where the following studied before 1977, and then tell us who is talking crap:

Patrick Herminie
Joe Belmont
Albert Rene
Maxime Ferrari
Jacquel Hodoul
Charles De Commarmond

And all the others "of all creed" who went to school at Seychelles College BEFORE 1977 and Albert Rene and Michel's so-called liberation, including myself who graduated in 1971.

You are truly an idiot who has been brainwashed by this communist system and cannot see day for night. If Albert had taken education seriously, would he have invented the NYS to indoctrinate you and your kids? Where is NYS today if it was so great? Where are all the great graduates from there; most of them are on heroin or in the Parti Lepep or waiting for a hand out, or as Michel says, they are the "less fortunate".

Wake up and realize the serious damages that have been caused to our society by those 2 madmen Rene and Michel. They are no different to Gadaffi or Fidel Castro. Experiments and experiments have gone very wrong, except along the way, both have become capitalists and have robbed the Seychellois of their true wealth; and that is democracy and freedom, let alone the millions they have stolen from us. And the us includes you too fool. Unless you are one of the "more fortunate" who has managed to steal your way as well and filled your own pockets and now spend time defending a failed system.

No matter what, education or not, the people of Seychelles can spell and smell freedom, and it is coming slowly. Remember the last boycott you fool and you will understand that the worse is yet to come for Rene and Michel and followers like you, while the best is yet to come for the Seychellois who do not believe in your fake democracy.

In Ukraine, parties need 3% of total votes cast to get representation in parliament. "Spoilt votes are taken into account" in total votes cast.

Wikipedia -- In the Ukrainian elections of March 2006, for which there was a 3% threshold, one party, People's Opposition Bloc of Natalia Vitrenko, received over 3% of the formal vote but failed to obtain 3% of the overall vote (which includes informal ballot papers, i.e. votes that are blank or incorrectly filled out).

Sounds like exactly what happened to Pierre when he failed to achieve the 10% threshold of votes cast.

Again, it shows there is a distinction between votes cast and valid votes. Govinden is tell us no such distinction exists.

Legislative elections were held in the Russian Federation on December 17, 1995. At stake were the 450 seats in the State Duma (Gosudarstvennaya Duma), the lower house of the Federal Assembly of Russia (The legislature).

The election law adopted for the 1995 election was similar to that adopted for the 1993 election, with some minor modifications. First, to secure a place on the proportional representation ballot, parties had to have registered with the Ministry of Justice no later than six months before the election, and the number of signatures they had to gather rose from 100,000 to 200,000. Second, invalid votes were now included in the calculation of the 5.0 percent threshold. Third, on the single-member district ballot, party endorsements of candidates were indicated.

Out of the forty three parties and coalitions contesting the elections, only four cleared the 5% threshold to qualify for the proportional seats. As a result of these elections, the Communists and their satellites, the Agrarians and other left-wing deputies, controlled a little less than the half of the seats. The populist LDPR occasionally sided with the left majority, but often supported the government. As in the previous Duma, the parliamentary groups of independent deputies had a significant influence on the balance of power in the parliament.

The Seychelles Constitution sets a threshold of 10%. Unlike what Govinden is saying, it is not unusual for countries to set a threshold based on total votes cast (valid votes, spoilt votes, protest votes)

The constitution then goes to say how many proportional seats have been won by a party , i.e. provided the threshold has been met. It is 1 seat for each 10% of votes polled.

Furthermore, we know that the threshold was set at 10% to stop a party getting a proportional seat if it has polled just a few votes. Unlike what Pierre is saying, he has not been dealt an injustice. It is what the constitution says and it is what Rene wanted when he amended the constitution in 1996 to stop Ramkalawan.

Pierre keeps saying that he has been dealt another injustice because seats were allocated on valid votes in the past. He has no evidence for that. He has been told he is wrong by the Electoral Commission. In fact, the allocation of seats in elections from 1998 is consistent with allocation based on total votes cast. He is being deceitful, because there is a lot at stake for him personally. That is, Leader of the Opposition on the back of just 3828 votes out of an electorate of 70,000 and more and on the back of a comprehensive defeat at the polls.

David Pierre should lobby his paymaster James Michel to amend the constitution that now they have an overall majority in the wonderland parliament and then he should ask him to call a fresh parliamentary election so that his childhood dream can be satisfied. That is becoming the leader of the opposition. He should be a man as Wavel did in 1993 in the parliamentary election when he overcame the dictator's threshold. Work your ass David Pierre if you want glory. You have you proven wrong by your cheap talk in the assembly which you thought had given you popularity amongst the opposition supporters. We do not reward traitors with our votes. This is a great lesson to be learnt.

As the earlier blogger said, Pierre should now get James Michel and his buffoons in HIS assembly to amend the constitution. They have overwhelming control afterall. It won't be a problem.

Govinden is an ILLITERATE BUFFOON. How can this country operate with this prick of an idiot as Attorney-General. Our poor country has sunk to a new low with legal minds like Govinden and that fucking idiot of a judge Niranjit Burham who should be barred from ever sitting in a court room again and put on the next plane back to his homeland where he can't get a job.

If the Court of Appeals give David Pierre a seat in the assembly, it means that our Constitution is no longer the law of the land, and that the justice department is corrupt and in collusion with the Executive (James Michel). If there is no law in the land, then it is time for Seychellois to become lawless like Govinden, Michel and his merry judges, and this would be the time for a march, for riots and for a Seychelles Spring.

We need to take OUR COUNTRY BACK from these fools.

Pierre’s power-hungry bid to enter the dud national assembly runs into more difficulties

Pierre’s last-minute bid to get back into the national assembly on the back of a boycott of the polls by the opposition was foiled by thousands of protest votes. He polled 3828 votes, a tally which must have included a sizeable number of Parti Lepep’s rent-a-vote. Since then, Pierre has been hoping Parti Lepep judges would give him what the opposition voters wisely denied him. After all, these judges have a sickening habit of giving Parti Lepep what it wants. Make no mistake. Parti Lepep wants David Pierre as Leader of Opposition. The message has been passed to the judges in no uncertain terms. Yesterday, it must have come as a shock to Pierre that Parti Lepep’s wish met with resistance from two judges. The manhunt for the elusive seat of Leader of Opposition moves to the Court of Appeal, leaving in its wake more damage to the reputation of the Attorney General and Sri Lankan Judge Burhan.

What’s Burhan up to ?

Pierre has no case for a proportionate seat at all. Morally. Constitutionally. Or in the interests of natural justice, as he argues. In fact it would be a travesty of moral renaissance, our much abused constitution and natural justice to give him a seat in the national assembly after that resounding rejection at the polls by those who also reject Parti Lepep.

There is a wide inconsistency in the various arguments being put forward by those who support David Pierre’s petition. Judge Burhan, Govinden, Hoareau and Pierre himself make different arguments. That shows how flimsy their case is.

From what we heard on SBC, Judge Burhan has not even bothered to explain his support for David Pierre. He has dictated that “total votes cast” means “valid votes cast”. That is quite clearly nonsense, as these two terms have different meanings in English and in election terminology. He had to explain why he thought the constitution meant “total valid votes cast” when it clearly says “total votes cast”. The judge failed to do that. Pending a reading of his full judgement, I find his decision despicable. We must remember that the Sri Lankan judge and Parti Lepep government go back a long way. He was a magistrate under SPPF. He was appointed a judge in 2008 and he perhaps has an eye on a contract renewal. He has oodles of reasons to try to please Parti Lepep through his decisions and this judgement does not dispel any of these reasons.

Govinden wades in to muddy the water

Pierre has made a consistent argument, but a false argument. He argues that in the past the calculation for proportionate seats was based on valid votes. He has not a shred of evidence to support his assertion. The facts show otherwise. The facts support the Electoral Commission. His call for natural justice and consistency is absurd.

Govinden argues that it is absurd to use valid votes to elect directly elected members and “another method” to elect proportional members. He speaks of confusion in a dramatic way. The only one putting confusion in the constitution is the Attorney General himself. He is fighting for Pierre because he knows that Michel wants him to support Pierre. He is twisting the facts and arguments to please Parti Lepep. He cannot be seen as an impassioned interpreter of the constitution. He is a disgrace. The constitution clearly makes provision for two separate systems for electing MNAs (directly elected and proportionately elected). A few months ago, he was telling judges that their job was to interpret the constitution and not to rewrite the constitution. Now he is asking judges to rewrite the constitution because a rewrite suits him in this case.

Govinden acts a fathead

It is clear that directly elected MNAs are elected under the well-understood first-past-the-post (i.e. the winner is the one with the most votes) system. A spoilt vote is excluded because it is not clear which candidate should get this vote. Under this system, only valid votes are counted for the candidates. That's logic.

Proportionate members are elected under a different system, clearly set out in that infamous amendment to the constitution in 1996. It is the application of this system that is at issue, not whether one system should be used for all MNAs as Govinden is saying.

It is possible for an MNA to be directly elected with less than 10% of the votes. This can happen if there are, say, 12 candidates standing in a district. In such a situation, the constitution does not say that someone needs to get 10% to get elected. The candidate with most votes wins.

But the constitution clearly says that no MNA can be elected on a proportionate basis unless their party has polled at least 10% of the total votes cast.

The issue is whether the constitution means all ballot papers placed in ballot boxes or just the valid votes (i.e. ballot papers where the voter has expressed a clear preference for one of the candidates). It is breathtaking that Govinden – the Attorney General – cannot grasp this issue. He too was intriguingly sued by Pierre. He has won and he is criticising the judges. How hard is he working at being a fathead ?

Constitution is clear -- 10% of all voters

Commonsense says “total votes cast” means all valid ballot papers in the ballot boxes. Commonsense says that there is a clear distinction between “total votes cast” and "total valid votes cast”. As the lawyer for the Electoral Commission says, one (total votes cast) is numerically higher than the other (total valid votes cast). Pierre had to prove otherwise to show that he had met the threshold of 10% stipulated in the constitution. His lawyer, Basil Hoareau, is the only one who came close to addressing the issue. But even he concedes that the constitution talks of all votes (valid and invalid). He argues that we should refer to the Election Act for further clarification. However, the Election Act explains how to count votes for directly elected members. It makes sense that all spoilt votes should be excluded before counting the votes for each candidate. For spoilt votes, the voters have not voted for any specific candidate. This provision of the Election Act does not clarify the constitution nor does it replace the constitution. The Election Act does not deal with the calculation of the threshold and the allocation of proportionate MNAs. Judge Burham had to explain to us why he thinks otherwise. It is not acceptable for him to insert any word (i.e. “valid”) in constitutional provisions which are otherwise clearly expressed. He is a judge, not a dictator.

Rene’s dirty deed comes back to sink Pierre and Misel

Sometimes it is necessary for us to consider what the legislator had in mind, if the constitution has been badly drafted. We all know why the constitution was changed in 1996. Albert Rene wanted to raise the bar, to stop the United Opposition getting into the National Assembly again in 1998. This was done by making it more difficult to get 10% of votes. Before the amendment, Ramkalawan got into the National Assembly with less than 10% under the original constitutional provisions. If the amendment had been in place n 1993, Ramkalawan would not have been elected as a proportionate member. It is quite clear that the National Assembly wanted to raise the bar in 1996. That explains why the constitutional amendment speaks clearly and unequivocally about “10% of total votes cast” as the threshold that must be met to qualify for a proportionate seat. That’s a higher threshold than that in the original constitution and it would have prevented Ramkalawan getting into the National Assembly had it been in place in 1993. That was also what Rene had in mind. They can wheel him in court to explain what he was doing. The constitution is clear on the threshold Pierre had to meet to get a seat. It is not two-toned like Pierre’s noggin.

Constitution of Seychelles

Article 78

78.
The National Assembly shall consist of-
(a) such number of members directly elected in accordance with-
(i) this Constitution; and
(ii subject to this Constitution, an Act,
as is equal to the number of electoral areas;

(b) not more than 10 members elected on the basis of the scheme of proportional representation specified in Schedule 4 .

Schedule 4

2. A political party which has nominated one or more candidates in a general election and has polled in respect of the candidates in aggregate 10% or more of the votes cast at the election may nominate a proportionally elected member for each 10% of the votes polled.

Article 78 and Schedule 4 say it all. The constitution does not say to look elsewhere. Why is Judge Burhan looking elsewhere to find out whether PDM should get a proportional seat ?

The Constitution says that there shall be up to 10 members elected under a scheme of proportional representation. The scheme is set out in Schedule 4 of the Constitution.

Why does Basil Hoareau think the "scheme of proportional representation" is in the Election Act ?

The Election Act deals with first-past-the-post election for directly elected MNAs in the districts, not proportional representation.

I could not agree more with the above blogger. This nonsensical charade by the assembly of fools who are trying to fool only themselves. After 7 years of inaction in their own district, they are now trying to put a facade that they really care about their people in their own district. For Mr Lucas I would have suggested he looked at the destruction of plantation club which was a source of employment for baie-lazar people which is now a brothel of the Arabs. Now the Lepep fools are looking at their own reflection in the mirror and they have concluded that they are self-centered fools who are just condoning James Michel abuse of the Seychelloise people. Now they do not have the opposition in their assembly to bully and ridicule because they were people who came up with real problems of the people and wise motions. They are now feeling the real effect of the opposition in the assembly. Behold for more hypocrisy and theatrical spectacles in the assembly of the fools hardy. So there will be no more election promises make by Lepep in the future election since they are doing well economical from what we heard on Michel broadcasting cooperation and that they opposition will not be blamed for not doing anything since they control all districts.

What do you expect in a society which is run by mediocrity? More teenage pregnancies, theft, murders, prostitution and all the evil ills associated with it. Who is to be blamed? We as individual and the society at large, when you have a nation backing a immoral, promiscuous and an atheist has their leader this is what will happened? Evils breed more evils.
When you have a nation rationalizing immoral behaviors from people they have chosen to lead them. This is what we will get. The seychelloise people are not changing their strategies but they expect a different outcome. As the law of nature goes garbage in garbage out. I vividly remember when opposition supporters where criticizing the private life of Mr Rene. Most of the sppf supporters at that time were saying that, this was not a problem because Mr Rene is a man. Unless each individual look at themselves seriously and try to address these immoral standard that they have set for themselves nothing would change in our society and we will keep on going into moral decay.
Just look at our school most of them are being vandalize with impunity. Now if people in our society do not value educational institutions what do you expect. Having an educational system which is run by circle of friends, where competent Seychelloise who do not tow political lines are thrown into a corner and their potentials are not valued what do you expect. With an education system which is obsessed with police officers in the classrooms has opposed to teachers teaching in a classroom what do you expect. This Michel government is not interested with the people of Seychelles. They more interested with holding on to power, profitable businesses, enjoying themselves with their rich foreign friends. I am afraid that we have bought the misery on ourselves as a nation. Unless we do otherwise in the polling booth and say clearly that we do not want immoral leadership, we will continue to get more of the same. We should get Michel broadcasting cooperation to stop bringing hypocrites and false prophets to come and debate important issues publicly on Tv because some of them are rotten to the core that all these debates are useless because people listening to them know that they are blatant liars who condone and some even practice these very evil act that they are preaching about.
With Arabs around their will be more teenage pregnancies as they throw around money and they enjoy preying on virgin.

There may not be much that anyone can do about this. What we need to do however is look at our needs and PRIORITISE.What should we spend our limited funds on: community centres or clinics?Jeeps for presidential security or ambulance? Ambassies all over the world or doctors and nurses?
Guys let's be real.Does the President Office need all these principal secretaries, Directors General, Directors, Sub -Directors, Assistant directors???
Albert Rene ran this country with a skeleton staff. What is Michel doing differently that he needs a quarter of the civil service at his personal service?
Let's cut the crap and put our money where our mouth is.
1.Cut back on these embassies in all corners of the world that is providing friends with a place to rest.In this modern communication age, they're not needed.
2.Cut back on the president's office staff
3.Cut back on salaries of presidents and ministers, pensions of former presidents
4.The list goes on..
We'll have more than enough funds to fund a decent institution with a decent, trained staff.

Can Nation and Mancham cut the crap and give us break?
Mancham has been given a free ride on Ethihad inaugural flight. What's newsworthy about this - except that he beat his good friend St Ange to this "honour".
How more mediocre can Nation get?

The previous blogger's remarks on prioritising resources is so right.
Government closed, re-opened, closed and re-opened the embassy in london for Pat Pillay - clearly as a reward for services rendered. Pillay proceeded to build his little empire by taking along with him his PA, secretary and family, chauffeur and family, his maid. All paid for by us.Can jean paul Adam tell us what Pat Pillay has been doing since his appointment and what benefit Seychelles is getting out of this embassy?
And the embassy in Italy? What are they doing? And China. What is that frenchman doing apart from translating James michel's book?
Abu Dhabi - another joke isn't it? Why do we need an embassy there although it is being paid by Khalifa?
The USA with all their interests closed their embassy in Seychelles and many other countries because of financial reasons. We on the other hand, under an IMF programme, indebted to our necks, are opening embassies left right and center.
The we hear government complaining that there is no budget for this or that.

Alain St Ange ? He said we could have both. But we all knew it was either Carnival or Festival.

Festival has a real purpose -- promotion of our culture. Carnival has a fake purpose -- bringing more tourists.

No, carnival does not "bring" tourists. No sane tourist would travel this far and at that price to watch the circus that Carnaval de Victoria is.
Tourists travel to Brazil, to the Carribean to watch AUTHENTIC carnivals.
Carnaval de Victoria provides some entertainment to tourists who are ALREADY IN THE COUNTRY. Nothing more, nothing less.
If there is a head that should roll, it should be Shamlaye and his group of incompetents who cannot even organise a piss in a brewery.
How Shamlaye became a minister and why he has survived this long beats me. But one would say that James Miche is good at surrounding himself with incompetents.

Agreement by Heads of Government regarding the Eminent Persons Group report

30 October 2011

In welcoming the report of the Eminent Persons Group (EPG), and thanking its members for their outstanding work, Heads of Government:

- Noted that the EPG’s recommendations relating to the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) were consistent with the CMAG reforms adopted at this Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting;

- Adopted without reservation a further 30 recommendations;

- Adopted, subject to consideration of financial implications, 12 further recommendations;

- Asked a Task Force of Ministers to provide more detailed advice on 43 other recommendations to Foreign Ministers at their September 2012 meeting in New York, as a basis for further decision by Heads; and

- Deemed, for a variety of reasons, 11 of the recommendations inappropriate for adoption.

Against this background, attached is a list of the adopted recommendations, and those subject to further consideration and advice.

Anonymous said...

Here's one recommendation that was not accepted by the Commonwealth.

R2 A Commonwealth Commissioner for Democracy, the Rule of Law
and Human Rights should be appointed to provide well researched
and reliable information simultaneously to the Secretary-General
and the Chairperson of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action
Group (CMAG) on serious or persistent violations of democracy, the
rule of law and human rights in member states, and to indicate
approaches for remedial action.

Anonymous said...

Other recommendations that the Commonwealth found too much to accept. Heads of state/government have asked for more information to consider !!??

R2 A Commonwealth Commissioner for Democracy, the Rule of Law
and Human Rights should be appointed to provide well researched
and reliable information simultaneously to the Secretary-General
and the Chairperson of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action
Group (CMAG) on serious or persistent violations of democracy, the
rule of law and human rights in member states, and to indicate
approaches for remedial action.

Observer Teams should report publicly at regular intervals leading up to, during, and after voting day on relevant issues particularly the freedom of political
parties, legitimacy and fairness of election financing rules; freedomof themedia in reporting on the electoral process; the integrity of electoral lists; and the
efforts by all parties to avoid violence&intimidation.

To ensure that there is sufficient and effective capacity to carry out these observation functions, the Secretariat should: (i) in the lead up to elections
identified as potentially problematic, establish and maintain at least three deployment-ready observer teams made up of individuals with relevant
political and administrative experience, comprised of a regionally representative group and staffed by both the Secretariat and competent electoral
officials from CW countries; and (ii) review on a regular basis the availability of such teams as a ready-to-deploy facility

Where an adverse report is made by a CW Observer Group concerning a significant aspect of a general election, a report should be made by the SG to
CMAG immediately and a joint course of action adopted. The Secretariat should systematically follow-up the implementation of the recommendations
made by the CW Observer Groups so that observed deficiencies can be rectified well in time for the next electoral cycle, and be provided the necessary
resources for this purpose. Member governments, for their part, should demonstrate their commitment and willingness to address deficiencies
identified by CW Observer Groups in timely fashion before an ensuing election.

The remit of the CW Democracy Observer Missions should be expanded to include an assessment of the adequacy of institutional and operational
arrangements for post-election political transition and to advise the SG on actions that may be required to improve such arrangements and to ensure that political transitions respect the results of elections.

One or more CW governments, preferably of developing member states, should consider establishing an Academy for Democracy and Electoral training
for governments, elections commissions, and civil society organisations on a fee-for-service basis. If established, the Academy should work cooperatively with the Network of CW Electoral Management Bodies established by the Secretariat.

Anonymous said...

All the recommendations on democracy and free and fair elections were either deemed "inappropriate for adoption" and rejected outright or kicked into the long grass by asking for more information in a year's time.

Anonymous said...

Recommendation below not accepted. More information requested.

The CW should broaden its election observation mandate beyond the existing period (which is now ordinarily two weeks prior to the date on which the
elections are held). The Secretariat should provide CW Democracy Observer Teams that arrive in some strength, optimally two months in advance of a
planned election day (where this is possible), or where the election is called suddenly, as close as possible to the date on which the election is called to
meet electoral officials, political parties and civil society to ensure, through promotion and engagement, an open and democratic electoral process
leading up to, including, and following, election day.

Anonymous said...

Now, why am I not surprised?!!!!!

Anonymous said...

There's a surprise. The Commonwealth refuses to improve election monitoring. I suspect in our case the election observers would be on a 2-month beach holiday, instead of just a few days as is the case at the moment.

Anonymous said...

These recommendations on elections by the Commonwealth Eminent Persons Group are what SNP have been asking for. Surprise, surprise !!! They have been rejected.

Anonymous said...

The Commonwealth wants to give the impression that they are doing something to remain relevant. The Emminent Persons Group did a very good work. But as usual in these circumstances, you bring in politicians (the heads of state) and nothing is as straight forward anymore.

Anonymous said...

It'll be interesting to see what Michel's view is on the issue.
Will SBC ask him the question? Unlikely.
As usual he will be given the mocrophone to waffle on and on about ti leta zil, mars pli devan, etc. He won't tell us about his contribution, if any to that debate.
Unlikely that he opened his mouth once.

Copied from Seychelles Reality (Seselwa Unite) Post
----------------------------------

It would be a pity if Wavel was to go now in this stage of the game. For the dynamics and strategy so far pushed forward by the Alliance composed of Ralph, Philippe and Wavel have clearly been the winning factor for the opposition stance taken recently. These three men are beating Parti Lepep with brains and strategy far more than they ever imagined. (The words of an "observer" who I respect)and which I share.

Christopher and Jean Paul if they are aspiring politicians have shot themselves in the foot in their determination to destroy SNP through their leaders. A big mistake! They would have been better at forming a non-political movement to expose corruption if that was their motive and in doing so, won more respect. They are immature and vindictive. Their recent statements to expose everyone NDP, SNP and Boulle are indications that their parallel motivation is to try and bring down all the politicians in the game right now because they are being left out in the Alliance bloc.

Vox is right on many points, but I do not agree that in this interim stage Wavel should go. Not just yet!! The trio, (Ralph, Wavel and Phillippe) are doing a great job because all three have been in this struggle far longer than many and have matured in their perspective and abilities. One could argue that there may be others suitable, but do we really need armchair politicians right now who are unable and unwilling to take the risks. It is a pity that the Alliance had not taken this strategy a few months ago, but we should not cry over spilt milk and maybe even having done so we cannot guarantee that things would have turned in our favour.

Should they continue to be attuned, consistent and forceful in their strategy, we can have a lot going for Seychelles to achieve real and genuine democracy. What a pity it would be not to avail ourselves of what is now obviously working. Neither does Gervais Henrie, Nichola Prea Mark Hoareau, Sylvestre Radegonde have the abilities or astute leadership qualities to lead SNP or the opposition to successfully follow through the transition stage which we are going through to achieve real changes for Seychelles unfortunatly or more still to stand against Lepep's cunning manoeuvres.

I am not suggesting that SNP does not need drastic changes within its leadership structure, but the circumstances which necessitated this some time back, have now been overtaken by different events. If this was to happen as good and competent individuals they may be in their own fields, now is not the time to introduce new men in the field with no proven political "stuff" for we will find ourselves set back many years and the damage may be irreparable in lost momentum and wrong decisions made through lack of political foresight. There could be a proposition by SNP that Wavel continues until the reforms are completed after such time the SNP can decide on a strategy to participate in the next presidential elections hopefully continuing to work with the opposition Alliance.

I would even go so far as to suggest that Wavel is re-elected to see through reforms but that new officials are appointed to the Executive Committee of the SNP, so that Wavel would no longer be surrounded by the same old guards, so that new blood could be integrated in the party to see it forward. Since the EC officers are going to be elected this is an opportunity for those sincere and committed to the ideals of the party to bring about some changes while using Wavel's experience to complete the reform process.

Whatever SNP wants to do with RAM is their own affair. But to say that RAm must say to watch or aprticipate in the refrtoms as if nothing can be achieved without the present of RAm is absurd.Eighteen years RAM has been in the oppostion ,he did not do it in eighteen years why should you think he will have any dent in the PP.REal reforms will be conducted by real oppostion leaders with clear agendas and objectives and surely reforms will not come from those who in the past have been bedfellows with PP.

Jeanne D'arc breaking news

Ramkalawan has said that their will be an SNP convention to retain a new leadership but his actions says otherwise.

Wavel has fully committed himself into the electoral reform and will be seating at that table for so to happen, the catch here is the reform magnitude will most probably break ground somewhere in January or February but Ramkalawan instead of notifying his executive committee of what lies ahead at these meeting to debate before committing to any proposal he is still taking it to himself to go ahead without consent.

Remember the removal of Derjaques single handedly he wrote the letter to have him removed.

Ramka will never resign on contrary i heard he is going to run for leadership in the convention and is already campaigning with his die hard by money and favor exchange to remain as leadership.

Anonymous said...

Sorry marc hoareau sorry Bernard george and gervais henris but Wavel took you all for a fool poor marc wavel has made his money laugh at him.

Anonymous said...

If RAM does not want to resign ,there is another way of forcing namely party members should force him to do so or if any convention take place and RAM presents his candidacy after eighteen years of failure and playing Pp oppostion party then they should force him out.And if none of the members do so thus accepting RAM's conditions though they do not agree with him then we can say they all the same and have nothing more than being in SNP to pocket tax payers money while doing nothing for the country, and in this case the voters should not only sanction him but the whole SNP.I hope RAM has learnt from the medioc rally he hold in Sulvivan's garden and understand that it is not enough of beingFather RAm anymore but that voters want to see real actions and changes those actions bring in their everyday lives and country as a whole.

Please let registered SNP supporters decide whom they want as their leader. Currently in Seychelles politics all the oppositions have been taken for fools by SPPF/LEPEP but it became worst because opposition leaders were too accommodating with the LEPEP leadership. Those who are seeking opposition unity should be using unifying languages not divisive languages.Leaders are chosen by the people but not through denigrating other because he/she is your rival.Self promotion is not a very good quality of a true leader. I believed anyone who is a registered SNP supporter can contest for the leadership.

Politicians, be they in government or opposition, should know when to call it a day and move out.
The insinuations that Wavel should stay on as Leader of SNP is worrying because he is doing exactly what he's accusing the ruling party of doing.
Politics is a journey. People come, take the struggle some distance then hands it over to somebody else to continue. Can you imagine a world where everyone hung on to power just to be able "to complete what they have started"?
Seychellois has made it clear in successive elections that either they not want or do not trust Wavel to be president of this country. There is nothing else that he can hope to achieve by his insistence to hold on no matter what. He's done a decent job as leader of opposition to take us to where we are. It's time to hand over the mantle to new blood to continue the work, but above all position himself or herself to prepare for the next presidential elections.
Wavel cannot say he's retiring one minute and come back on his word the next on the pretext that "the work is not done".He talks about a new culture of doing politics in Seychelles. He should now walk the talk.

Now is silvester really want to be by ideology or just forthe sake of being opposition leader? We know since he left the governemnt he has been living abraod thus conpletely away on the scene of our national politics.I would expect that an active and a person with the envy to actively and seriuosly participate in our national politics would have stayed in the country but however this will be for the SNP supporters ifany left to decide.May the best and genûine leader take over with the hope that he or she just want to gain the throne of SNP to continue RAM's stooge politics.

Speech made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs on 9th September 2008 on the occasion of the celebration of the 39th anniversary of the Alfateh of the September Revolution.
President James Mancham
The Chief Justice
His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Aoun,
Ministers,
Members of Diplomatic Corps,
Distinguished Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are here today to celebrate the 39th anniversary of the Alfateh of the September Revolution and the Government and people of Seychelles are proud and jubilant in joining the Government and people of Libya in commemorating this glorious day.

I would like to avail of this opportunity to convey a message of congratulations from President James Michel, the Government and people of Seychelles to President Muammar Al Gadhafi and to the Libyan Government and people our warm congratulations.

Excellency,

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Libya and Seychelles in 1976, our two countries have maintained very good relations.

I have no doubt that the future will bear testimony to a further development of these excellent ties.

Seychelles and Libya share common goals in strengthening our development in this age of globalisation.

We are pleased that the Libyan authorities have decided to reopen its diplomatic mission and have physical presence in Seychelles.

This surely augurs well for our future cooperation.

At this junction, I would like to acknowledge the dedication and effort being contributed by Libya to make African countries move together with boldness and help further strengthen our countries' social fabric and national cohesion.

I am convinced that our two governments will spare no efforts to explore new avenues towards this shared idea.

This destiny is shaped by the collective and cumulative effort of the whole of Africa
- our hope, aspiration for the future and pulling together through the bad and good times.

We look forward to collaborating with Libya in moulding Africa's future.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Please join me in a toast to the good health and prosperity of His Excellency Colonel Muammar Al Gadhafi and to the everlasting friendship, cooperation and partnerships between the peoples of Libya and Seychelles.

Thank you.

Seychelles President James Michel is undertaking a one-day official visit to Libya at the invitation of Colonal Muammar al-Gaddafi, the leader and guide of the Revolution.

President Michel will be meeting with his counterpart to further enhance the bilateral relations between the two countries. It is to be recalled that the Libyan government announced in February the cancellation of 50 percent of Seychelles’ debt and the rescheduling of the remainder on favorable terms.

During the high level talks, the two leaders are expected to discuss matters of mutual importance such as the further development of the African Union, as well as the continued threat of piracy.

The President will be accompanied by the Secretary of State in the Office of the President, Mr. Jean-Paul Adam, and Mr. Charles Sorry, First Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Seychelles’ Executive Director at the African Development Bank, Mr. Peter Sinon, will also be joining the President in Tripoli from his current base at ADB Headquarters in Tunis.

The following statement has been issued today by the Seychelles Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jean-Paul Adam:

The government of Seychelles has taken steps to recognize the Resident Embassy of Libya in Seychelles as the diplomatic representatives of the Transitional National Council as the governing authority of Libya.

Following months of violence and devastation, the government feels that the Transitional National Council (TNC) authorities are the best placed to represent the interests of the Libyan people and help the country take the necessary steps to achieving democracy.

The government stands firmly by principals of democratic elections, but as Libya has no electoral mechanisms in place, it feels that, given the process should be Libyan lead, the best custodian of that progression is the TNC.

The Libyan people are faced with a humanitarian crisis and remaining difficult times ahead; in order for the international community to assist the people in a quick and decisive manner, such steps to establish diplomatic channels with the governing authorities are necessary. The government feels that delaying this process is not in the best interest of the people, and it is duty-bound to encourage the stabilization process as best it can.

The government remains steadfast in its condemnation of violence against innocent civilians and sincerely hopes that this new phase of Libya’s transition to democracy is one of peace, reconciliation, and national unity, prioritizing the needs of its people above all else.

just published three speaches..by our foreign minister in 2008, james michel last year, and Jean paul adam this year...what a difference a year makes!!!last year, james michel and jean paul adam were both sucking gaddafis cpck, licking his arse, and generally letting him come on their faces, in praising gadaffi.
Now that he has been deposed and killed, see how fast jean paul back tracks....

Jean paul, you are a sorry excuse for a minister..like gadaffi, your family, has destroyed our country, your cousins ( the savys ) are just like gadaffi sons...you deserve the fate that they got....you get expensive educations abroad in the UK, spout and eschew democaracy, and then come back and shit on us...
By the way...those speeches were taken direct from the foreign ministry website, so you can`t deny the ownerschip.
when gadaffi is cancelling our debt, you are prepared to bend over for him, when gadaffi was murdering his own people and raping them, why were you silent ?
how can you break bread with a man who has systematically murdered his own people for 40 years ? if hitler were alive, would you have gone over to germany ?
You and james michel are a piece of shit..

jean paul, you were a devious cunt ever since polytechnic and 20 years later, still are...
you used to arrive everyday in a ministerial limousine at polytechnic, and then daddy paid for your little subaru.. paid for by our taxes..
what happened to gadaffi, will happen to you and michel....mark mu words

The above blogger is right. This is politics. No permanent friends and no permanent enemies.
Look at David Pierre.Yesterday he was describing James Michel as kapon. Today James is great.
Yesterday Mancham was overthrown and banished overseas. Today he's in bed with the very same people who overthrew and banished him.
Whoever said that politics is dirty could not be more right.

Etifad whatever the name.
Be Mancham ,Michel and all those in the same age.It seem to me all those guys are living in the past with a feel of colonialsm in them. They still think when they would parade around the world use and abuse our country name ,speak in our names even when not ask them to do so we will prasied them ,adore them as if we cannot think for ourselves.
THis is a new generation with different ways of thinking ,wishes, objectives, dreams that have nothing with or have parallel with those old frial guys.

I am sure once change come then only they would realizes how disconnected they are with reality.

the reason why Bush and Blair embraced ghadaffi is very simple...let me educate you...
UK and US are MAJOR players in the war against TERROR... the consensus was that it was better to have ghadaffi onside than against...plus the lockerbie bomber was about to released to Libya...it was for the greater good..
seychelles is NOT a major player in the world against terror or anything else....just a thieving opportunist country..the same as during FAR reign when there was a embargo against the south african govt, and rene was busy selling arms to them....

Anonymous said...

You right and one official reason given by experts on foreign policies was that in fact he was the perosn.country which dlelivered most inforamtion to USA etc on Alkida. But you haver noted that Michel has nothing to do or the same excuse as the USa and others may have.So Pp_mIchel has no exucuse and nor does Jenpa has one for calling gadhafi brtoher.

Pirates have just captured a Seychellois fishing boat in the West of Mahe.

Where is Chief Actor Michel, Co-star Morgan and their Abu Dhabi patrol boats and their Chinese surveillance plane? Where's our infamous Coast Guards and their new Indian Navy boat? Leopold too busy counting his money and flats?

Our Government is one pathetic load of bullshit and we must all continue to do our best to remove these idiots from power. While they are busy with Rene-sans Moral, pirates are crawling around Mahe.

Let us all pray to God that these poor fishermen return safely to their families.

politics is politics, and we all know about Bismark and his REALPOLITIK...JenPa knows this also, as we studied it st polytechnic together...all the major countries get into bed with their enemies, to resolve their current problems..
however, gadaffi was a mass murderer...if Stalin, Hitler,Polpot etc were alive today, would JenPa go their countries and call them ``brothers`` ?
Michel talks about morality and democracy, and then goes to bed with mass murdering despots...
JenPa is the type of person who would go to germany for a far right extremist meeting and then the following week host the israli ambassador for a holocaust memorial service!
I would love to see how the new NTC ambassador reacts to Jenpa, when they highlight the fact that Rene and ghadafi were thick as thieves and so were michel etc...when ghadaffi was killing en masse the brits and the americans were holding embargoes against him, etc..seychelles is just an opportunist country...if there is a revolition in the emirates, and sheik khalifa starts killing his own people, what are Jenpa and michel going to say ?

Anonymous said...

the biggest loss of american life, committed outside the US and in peacetime, was the lockerbie bombing, committed by the libyans, in the 1980´s..
the world and ghadaffi realised that with with rise of terrorism, al quaeda, the fall of iraq, it was better to have ghaddafi on their side...hence the meeting with blair and ghadaffi in the desert etc...even so, till this day, blair is heavily criticised for that meeting...what excuse does jenpa have for calling ghadaffi brother ? none...

Who said politic is dirty? Is politic a living things? Does politic think? The answer to the above questions is a big no? Guys get that very clear politic is not dirty ,is human beings like you and me who are dirty. If only this leaders were sincere and honest the world would be a better place. But unfortunately greed, power and immorality are the moral fabric of most politicians. The people can straighten these politicians if they only know how powerful they are and give these corrupt bastard some kicks in their teeth when they take us for fools.

PUC -

SBC and Danny Faure have prepared the way for an increase in the cost of water and electricity by early next year.

Gone are the subventions handed out before the last presidential elections. Like with everything else, you get it one day before elections and they're gone the day after.

Danny Faure says government cannot afford to support PUC. But his same government has opened a new embassy in UAE and is opening two more - in Cuba and Ethiopia shortly.
WHERE ARE OUR PRIORITIES????

Following his free ride on Etihad, Mancham feels he noe has to try and convince us that all is good in his little world, that it's OK for Khalifa and his clan to be given our land.
How much has opportunistic, money-loving Mancham be paid to lick the arabs' & James Michel's asses?
Love affair indeed!!!!

Anonymous said...

I renamed him Pussedoff a few days ago. As for Mancham, he might be in love with Khalifa but we are not. He is not our type, although he might wear a robe.

Anonymous said...

And did Faure told us there is a surplus this year?

Though Pissed does not want to hide ,he has no choice with the pressure exercise by opposition on PP and after a shocking and warning boycott sucessfully conducted by the opposition i am sure Pissedoff unlike the butcher has understood that change is inevitable and criminals would be prosecuted so best option for him not to get caught is reamain hiding. It might be a smart strategy on a short term but as the recent execution of Gadhafi recently shows there is no hiding place for dictators and cronies anymore.

Mancham action is an idication that he still has the same mentality he had back in the colonial time when most our citizen were still illeterated and just beleived in the words and actions of anybody with a title, name or higher responsibilty but this time is over, the new generation have different objectives, wishes, and there own ways of doing things and it is not in this time of new technology that the young genration mastered perfectly will follow persons with archiac mentality and ways of thinking.

Be the butcher,Mancham, whoever they must know that Seychellois do not recognize their selling out of our country to Arabs and other foreigners, and Seychellois do not like thier Arabs friends and are not ready to let the christian country be a colony of Arab despots.Khalifa investing to rebuild Victoria will not make us love him which Michel and Manchan would like and hope to see.We would have prefered to see Khalifa paying his taxes, duties etc instead of poring money in to porjects rthat should be the responsibility of Seychellois to do.

The last bogus namely allowing Khalifa to rebuild or modernize Victoria has one object namely to try and gain our love but also the investment is done to support PP and give us the impression that all this is because of Michel being a friend of Khalifa thus all we haiving is becuase of michel actions.Secondly,if Khalifa would pay his taxes then money that would have entered our financial system could be control and any project by goverenemnt would need the approval of the Assembly which might reject or moderate Pp in tis investment by allowing khalifa to just give a little mney here and there we donot have any control of what really his giveing or not thus allow Pp to steal, rob etc and enrich themselves.

Seychellois will never ever fall in love with a feudal lord nor with any Arabs despots nor will we ever praise him as if he is our King .Seychellois want two things namely have KhaLIFA PAY HIS DUES AND ACT WITHIN OUR RULE OF LAW OR LEAVE OUR COUNTRY.I will never be a Islamic state .

Islamisation of Seychelles:

James Michel and Ti Morgan have incorporated a mosque into the new Navy headquarters paid for by Khalifa.
The mosque in Victoria is being extended to accomodate 700 "faithfuls". Paid for by Khalifa family.
But we should not complain lest we're branded "zenofob".
Let's all get on our knees and thank Allah for sending us James Michel and Khalifa.

The presidential and national assembly elections now over, we need to start patying for James Michel's and Parti Lepep follies, for the bribes they dished out, for the fridges, cookers, washing machines given out for votes.
What a better place to start than with electricity. They'se so much in a hurry that they cannot wait for the beginning ofthe year and the new budget.
Pay up guys. There's more on the way.

Anonymous said...

Wake up you fools. Seychelles is becoming an Islamic state.
They conquer the Middle East by allowing men to marry as many women as they want and whoever converted to Islam did not have to pay taxes. Soon they will introduce the same system in Seychelles and you watch how seychellois will sell their souls to Mohammed the pedophile.

For this person who say we speak big,but our action are very weak.NO if you want to achive some thing big you must plan it well before action even if it take 1 year.

They are some peoples working on some plans already, dont you worry when action will come will be a sunami for Michel.

my seychellois brothers and sisters...maldives is an islamic country, where, like other countries like saudi arabia, sudan, somalia, iran etc, acts like homosexuality, adultery, fornication are punishable, under sharia law, by death.
If we are not careful, seychelles will also become an islamic country. Khalifa has already removed the coco de mer from our passports, and is exerting more and more control over us.
it is time we take over our country..
seychelles for seychelloise..the arabs and muslims can go to other countries...

Anonymous said...

it won`t be long before the taliban rule seychelles.
Under sharia law, the age of criminal responsibility for boys is 15 and girls are 9..there are shocking cases of boys aged 14 and 16 being hanged in iran for being gay ( even though the 14 year old boy was a minor, he was 15 at the time of his trial)..
James michel will sell seychelles to the arabs, seychelles will become an arab / islam state..when will you open your eyes ? when there are public executions, beheadings, stonings in town ?...
we want these arabs out!!!!

Anonymous said...

Well if this stops some well-placed people - eg in University of Seychelles - from "fornicating", so much the better!

Renesans Moral???? This is why I've said all along that James Michel's plan is just a charade. You can talk as much as you like and have "district consultations" as much as you like. Until somebody is brave enough to take the bull by the balls and ACT, we're going to remain in the same shit.Worst still, we're going to drown in it.
