The Seychelles Column - By Christopher Gill

SEYCHELLES FOR ARABS

Sheikh Khalifa - New ruler of Seychelles?

Bougla Pe Dir Sesel Pou Arab

While the election commission was grappling with the reality of the Constitution of Seychelles being abrogated and the imminent death of the Third Republic under PL, State House announced late last week that Abu Dhabi government officials were in Seychelles to present us a master plan for the smallest capital in the world, the capital of Seychellois national pride, dignity, identity…..Victoria.

The Delegation Was Bigger Than a Football Team

Minister Morgan and Mr Falah Mohamed with guests in a souvenir photograph at yesterday’s signing ceremony

The delegation James Michel received on our behalf was bigger than a football team. It included the Abu Dhabi Director General of Planning Authority and a plethora of underlings.

Mr Falah Mohamed during his meeting with President Michel
Khalifa's puppet

It was an amazing display of the Michel’s friends coming to his aid, as he has forsaken our own people  into contributing in a valuable manner, on the development of Victoria.

Messrs Morgan and Falah Mohamed exchange documents after signing the agreement

Expo 2020?

The Seychelles 2020 Expo logo
What ever happened to the Sr. 22 Million Expo 2020? Was not that the expo of all expos that showed the new developments for the city of Victoria? I visited the International Conference Center where the expo was hosted a couple of months ago. All the makkets and props were stuffed in a corner collecting dust. Sr. 20 Million in expenses and now it all collects dust. No follow up. Just a fancy show, parade everyone in, lights, action, put on a show, then puff, shut it down, collect the money, run like hell! And don't forget Danny Faure just went to the Assembly to ask for some Sr. 2 plus million rupees to pay for the Expo electricity bill. Talk about taking the Seychellois people for fools!

Michel & Faure hard at work spending tax-papers money.

What About Qualified Seychellois Doing The Master Plan?

Why has James Michel not had qualified Seychellois contribute to a master plan and do it? That may sound like a hair brained idea to Mr. Michel, but it sounds like a reasonable and highly plausible idea to many Seychellois. We are not all meant to carry guns and shoot at our fellow brothers and sisters.

Michel - If Seychellois are not good at Planning, how about an Arab President as well?

Some of us, can actually develop a master plan. Some could probably do it better then Abu Dhabi. One question though, I must ask Mr. Michel, what makes Abu Dhabi people qualified to do this job and Seychellois, not? You know, I use to write papers for these chaps in university. I am a Seychellois. Surely, we have capable Seychelles who can do this job? Lablache? Payet? Didon? Ernesta? Houreau? Chaka? Dogley? Malvina? St. Ange? Pool? Banane? Michel? Herminie? Decomarmond? Prea? Pragassen? Chung- tave? Dhanjee? Mancienne? Bibi? Even some Savy have brains. The list goes on and on. You get my point Mr. Michel?

Seychelles For Sale To Arabs

I have been receiving reports that numerous properties are up for grabs by Abu Dhabi in the coming weeks. This includes ex-Beachcomber Resort Praslin location which was stolen from the Masons, as well as St. Anne Resort as we must not forget that Francis Savy received the island for one rupee, courtesy of Stepdad Albert Rene and one Joel Morgan then Minister responsible. Raffles Praslin is also up for grabs. The Victoria Waterfront property which was highly marketed at the 2020 Expo and which had been promised to the likes of the Seychelles Yacht Club and Marine Charter for further development is now earmarked for Arab investors.  Properties all over South Mahe, even the defunct Emirates Cap Ternay Project is soon to find new Arab owners.  The list is daunting. What exactly is going through James Michel mind to sell interests in Seychelles to basically one family and country? Is he of sound mind?

Beautiful Cap Ternay - soon to be in Arab hands

Desperate Men Take Desperate Measures

Mr. Michel recently took over the Tourism portfolio. But he has not done much with it and we have not seen him do much with it except to increase State House' travel budget at the expense of taxpapers money. It is depressing to say the least. If anything, he has helped to destroy Tourism since he took over. It has been in my opinion, a little like the boy taking a toy and smashing it into a wall because he did not know how to wind it up. To make Tourism work, all players need to be engaged in a real way, and the playing field must not be said to be level, but it must actually be so.

Our most important Ministry needs a leader with vision, not a President who thinks he knows it all. Why does he not simply hand over the tourism portfolio over to Alain St. Ange who is doing all the work anyway? Surely St. Ange cannot do any worse than Michel.

Alain St. Ange - the defacto Tourism Minister

More Desperate Moves

Surprisingly, many people do not know that Mr. Michel has taken over the portfolio for Planning, Lands and Land Use and Habitat. It is here where, we must be afraid, be very afraid, because Mr. Michel will sell anything he can likely, under his “Sesel Pou ARAB”- policy!

But Michel's know-it-all and Arab-loving policies will surely backfire one day in the future as the Seychellois people have been watching the Arab Spring with great passion and are simply tired of being lied and manipulated.  The death of Gadhafi on Thursday is a grim reminder of what happens to despotic and corrupt leaders who believe a country, its people and its resources belong to them.

Just remember the trick statement he made when he took office: “Judge me by my actions” and then he said: “I am President of all Seychellois”.

I guess a lot of passports will be sold in UAE over the coming months.

People of Seychelles, those in SPPF PL, do something about your leader before it is too late!

Seselwa Unite!

Sesel Pou Seselwa!

May God Bless All Freedom Loving Seychellois!

Now we hear about some prominent individuals at UNISEY sleeping around with both girls and boys.
These are the same people who are supposed to be our role models!
If James Michel cannot see what shit he's landed us in then he's a bigger fool than I had thought.
He declared that he was going to do things differently in his new mandate. Unless I've missed it, nothing seems to have changed one bit.If anything, it's getting worse and will continue to get worse until some people are taught that they cannot get away with murder.
We're all looking to the president to set the example.

The"prominent individuals at UNISET" are not doing anything our political leaders from top to bottom, have not been doing.
Albert Rene used State House as a brothel, dropped his second wife for a younger one and kept on sleeping around.
James Michel did same as chief. He dropped his wife and where he did better than Albert is that he got himself an even younger mistress and subsequently wife. This did not stop him from sleeping around.
Rumours of adulturous relations with staff are rife.
And I would not know where to start with his ministers. The only one you do not hear stories about is Shamlaye. All the others are falling over themselves to be better at conquests.
Yet, in all this we are being asked to set the example to get our country out of the morality mess it is in.

Someone asked what David Savy was doing at the airport welcoming Etihad, after being sacked from Air Seychelles. He is now the Chairman of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority. Michel cannot keep the stepson out of work for too long, if he wants to hang on to his own job.

I can't help feeling that Michel was wishing on Friday that he could adopt Etihad as the national airline and smother the troublesome Air Seychelles. You could see it in his eyes as he welcomes the Etihad delegation at State House. What are the chances he will be flying Etihad when he goes to the Abu Dhabi Etihad Grand Prix next week. Etihad is of course the national airline of the Abu Dhabi where Khalifa comes from. Emirates is from Dubai, another of the 7 countries that make up the UAE. Let's see how this pans out.

Why Gleeny was present?Simply he is Still conlonel of the Air Froce though we do not have one and he does not even has any military responsibility. That is now Pp communist system works you given or takes many tilte in order to steal from the people wealth while douing nothing or have no idea of what they are given tiltes, promotion for.

This one thing we have to do instead of complaining overthrow this gang of crooks by massive peaceful streets protests thus save our land from neo-clonialsim and people form modern slavery.

4 Tronpet

With all due respect to the distinguished honorary consul who made the presentation but SHOULD OUR GOVERNMENT STOOP TO THIS LEVEL AND ACCEPT 4 little tronpet FROM A LITTLE ISLAND IN THE PACIFIC????
And with so much fanfare????
Where is our pride and dignity as a nation?
Is this what our "active diplomacy" has been reduced to?
Accepting hand-outs, whatever they are and from wherever they come?
Come on guys, let's be real.

Miss Kreol

So Shamlaye reckons that failing to involve our Miss Kreol in this year's festival kreol is "an oversight"?
Really?

The more I look at and listen to these people the more I realise how pathetic and mediocre we've become.
James Michel should off-load these incompetent morons and appoint competent people in their place. It's not as if we're all a nation of morons. There are many competent people around.

Anonymous said...

Tronpet

I agree - Pathetic and humiliating this is.
There comes a point where, for national pride and dignity it's best to politely decline certain gifts, however well-meaning they may be.
Why do you think some nations, even after major catastrophies, refuse foreign help, even when offered?
It's all to do with national pride and dignity. There are certain things that an independent sovereign country should be able to do on its own. Getting its Music Conservatory 4 tronpet is one of them.
Tonight, I'm embarassed and ashamed.

Nothing will happen to Michel. Trust me on this. He and his cronies will continue to screw us until his term is up. Baton will then be passed to Danny Faure and Jean Paul Adam and the screwing will continue.
Seychellois are cowards. They'll moan, complain, swear under their breath but will never say enough is enough. This is why Lepep will continue to reign over us for ever and ever Amen.

Well i will twell one thing ,note it down in case you forget.PP will not be in power in the next election.WHY? if the electoral reforms are democractic we will get him out in the election but if PP try to fake and pretenting to conduct refomrs to gain time we will do it as the lybian,Tunisian,Egy<ptain did namely by massive streets portests all other the country.note it won't be for one day but 24hours on 24 until Pp crumble.
YOu were wrong on the boycott you will be again wrong on pp's fate.
This country is for the people of Seychelles not for a gang of criminals and its foreign firends we will show them what people revolution is.Morevoer if Pp is still in power it is not becuase pp is strong but becuase we the people have allow them to do so the table is turning, change will be on our shore soon not longer than until the next election.

As usual you and I and everybody else will talk a lot about this being our country but will not do anything.
Stop talking about street protests. Will NEVER happen.

NEVER.
One thing we have excelled in is talk, talk talk.
You know it, James Michel knows it.
I was not born then but I hear that Albert Rene defied the British administration several times by taking his supporters to the streets in marches and strikes.

Reply to All-

I read clearly the sense of panic and chaos that is setting in the SNP camp from the comments made on this blog.

It is sad indeed.

The panic is caused because of two fundamental reasons: 1. Failure of existing leadership to deliver the promise for change after 18 years; 2 failure to allow willing and able leaders in the party to come up.

A third less important point of course, is the systematic exposure of SNP being a sell out party that Freedom Party is exposing on its blog. Most recently, Bernard Goerges tapes reveal he worked for his clients some British nationals and his other Client FIU and State House at the same time over the banking of $900,000.00.

In rebutal, the point has been made that these ideas are not believed by the people in the streets. Fair enough of a point as fair as a chicken without feathers wears a coat and tries to pass it off for feathers.

But my impression is that they do believe what we say.

Please stop mentioning Sylvestre Radegonde and Marc Hoareau on this site, like they do not deserve any respect.

These two men are great Seychellois. They are currently also private figures in our community. Permit them the respect warranted to allow them to make any announcements that they will go Public and get involved.

Anything better then what Ramkalawan has dished out will be an imporvement for Seychelles.

Have a great day and live FREE as God intended you to be.

This will destroy Communism.

PS-

I have been on a private holiday with my wife, and children (15 days). Sorry, if I was missed and chaos brewed on the site while I was gone.

I ask all in the opposition to mature up a bit. Because the comments being placed on some blogs can only make PL Communist laugh to death.

Today in Seychelles's front page is another example of yellow journalism practised by that paper. It does not dare criticise the government, and in those rare occasions that it tries to criticise Parti Lepep government, it wastes paper and ink and its readers' time beating about the bush.

So, no surprise that it has used a totally inappropriate picture of Ramkalawan to accompany its article on Ramkalawan at the SNP Women's conference. It is one of Parti Laliberte's favourite pictures. But serious journalists from a struggling and fledgling paper wanting to be taken seriously can do better than that.

TODAY in Seychelles's forte is self-censorship, in various forms, while it ingratiates itself with the regime.

How incompetenet must Minister Morgan and Brig Leopold Payet be, before they are dismissed ?
Two fishermen, were kidnapped, just 60 miles from Mahe...thats right, somalis, came to mahe, kidnapped two fishermen, and took them away to somalia. These were not American SEALS in a helicopter spiriting away Bin Laden, but Somalis, in a boat, who came 60 miles to our shores..
If the fishermen were taken hostage on one of the outer islands, i could understand, but 60 miles from Mahe!!!?? thats desplorable...
Not only were the taken hostage, but they returned to Somalia, on mainland Africa with them!!!
Morgan, you are incompetent at best.. you cannot protect us..do the honourable thing and resign now!!!!

Anonymous said...

we have over 100 miles scattered over a million square miles, so yes, its impossible for us, with our limited resources to police over such a vast ocean.
However, the absolute minimum I expect, is that we are protected from these pirates on MAHE, PRASLIN and LA DIGUE...
Knowing that these pirates could come to mahe, kidnap fishermen, and take them back to somalia is unbelievable.
The buck stops with you Minister Morgan.
Morgan, Michel, you guys can`t protect us or our assets..time for you guys to leave!
In any other country, heads will roll..
when the Americans went to get Bin Laden, the pakistanis were up in arms that their sovereignity was invaded...well, our soverenigty has been invaded....
what guarantees do we have that this won`t happen again ? none whatsoever..Morgan and michel...you have to go!

Anonymous said...

if we cannot travel to the other islands, we are all hostages to these pirates, not just the two unfortunate fishermen..

morgan, you are useless...step up, be a man, admit your shortcomings, RESIGN....

what must the somalis do, come to seychelles, open a stand at next years SUBIOS festival weekend, send a candidate for MNA etc before you pull your finger out ?

i mean, any other arrival in seychelles, be it by air or sea pays an arrival and departure tax at the point of entry and exit...maybe these somalis have got the right idea, they enter and leave seychelles as they please, take our people hostages, and don`t pay anything for the privilege..next time i leave seychelles i am going to hire these Somalis Ferry Services and forget about Air Seychelles, that way i can leave seychelles, go to dubai, return with my shopping, and not pay a penny!!!! :o)

The 3 idiots Michel, Morgan and Leopold are taking us Sewelwa for fools.

While Michel is receiving a watch at State House with all his lovely ladies in waiting, Morgan is making another useless speech at Subios with ass-licker Alain St. Ange in a dinghy, and while Leopold is still counting his stolen millions, Somali pirates are 60 miles from our shores. Where are the Chinese planes, the Indian Navy boats, the Arab Coast Guard vessels, the drones, and whatever else equipment we have received to fight piracy? Where is La Viktwar pou Sesel?

Now we need Siva to cough up another cool million dollars to pay for the release of these 2 poor fishermen. But Siva is not in the good books these days as they have used him and now ready to throw the big Indian baby out with the bath water. Maybe the deep-pocketed JJ Spirit Foundation can dig into its illegal millions to pay for the ransom. Or Marie-Louise can ask fat cat Danny Faure for a supplementary budget.

And I wouldn't be surprised if the Somalis get smart and ask for the release of all the prisoners we are holding in prison. If I was the negotiator, I would ask for Pinocchio-nose Morgan to be handed over as well. What a day of joy that would be for us Seychellois. Hell, puny Morgan would fit right in with the skinny Somalis and maybe he could lead a tribe, make some white baby Somalians and become the feared Pinocchio the Pirate. He could also call on Meriton's renesans morale book to teach these Somalis some manners so that they don't steal other people's boats let alone hard working fishermen.

Michel you dickhead, why don't you invade Somali and become their head of state. Shit, Seychelles is too small for you and you are running out of women. So use your stolen millions and create en nouvo Somalia. Take your bunch of wanking Ministers and MNAs with you too. I can already see Marie-Louise and Mari-Rose enjoying those long Somali dicks; they won't even have time to squeal and make famous speeches. And the Somalis could feast on that fat bastard Dr. Hermini for at least 6 months.

James Michel, Joel Morgan and Leopold Payet are all fucking idiots and a disgrace to our land. I hope one day some Somali pirate gets a chance to put a bullet into their empty lying skulls.

And when did Regatta and Subios become so political?

Sov nou Sesel

Just wait til Somalis land on Bird, North, Denis, Fregate or Desroches. That will be the end of tourism on our islands. We are a time-bomb waiting to explode. The millions spent on our army and coast guards are wasted if they cannot protect our people just some sixty miles at sea.Too many fancy speeches with no substance and no action.

Anonymous said...

the last blogger mentioned something that i did not even think about...just imagine, if the somalis use these two poor fishermen as bait..?
the two fishermen, obviously have no money..but what if they are used as pawns to get the somalis already in prison released ?
if you google the name Omar Saeed, you will see that he was a young man from east london, he became a muslim fundamentalist, and went to bosnia, and was trained by al quaeda.
In the mid 1990´s, he went back to pakistan, and befriended brits and american tourists in pakistan, and kidnapped them..it was only after the army raided his property, they were freed and he was arrested..
a few years later, al quaeda hijacked an air india flight and demanded his release with the exchange of 200 or so indian passangers...his release was granted..
fast forward a few years, he was instrumental in 9/11 and financed it by sending the 911 hijackers US$100K..then later, it was he who kidnapped the unfortunate daniel pearl, who was then beheaded...
Omar Saeed is now in prison, on death rowe..
my point is this...these fishermen are poor, and have no money..my fear is the point that the previous blogger mentions... what happens if these poor fishermen are used as pawns to negotiate for the release of the somalis...how stupid would michel and morgan look, if after jailing them two weeks ago, in front of the EU etc, they have to release them next week!!!!

Anonymous said...

first morgan loses US$10million to the fake sheik, now seselwa fishermen cannot go fishing off the coast of mahe. DISGRACEFUL...
as the last blogger mentioned, where are the drones, war boats, coastguard etc..
when the royal couple were here, they had a coastguard ship permantly protecting their privacy, but what about a coastguard protecting our fishermen, in our waters...
we had a rogue shark that killed two tourists, remember how fast alain st ange and morgan and co tried to cover their asses on that one...now two poor fishermen are kidnapped...
st ange, morgan, michel....you all have to go...complete disgraces..

Our Coast Guards acted like the Royal Navy when William and Kate came to North Island on their honeymoon. I'm sure the British Monarch paid a huge sum for this and of course we will never know where the money went, if not in Michel's or Leopold's pockets.

Now where is the same Coast Guard when thye are needed to protect our fishermen just a few miles off the coast of Mahe? Ironic isn't it that Michel helped kicked the British out of Seychelles and then 35 years later he protects their future King. I just wished he would do the same to our locals.

isn`t James Michel also our Minister for DEFENCE ?
So, just on those grounds, he should resign..If he cannot defend our main island, which is a thousand miles from the mainland africa and even more from somalia..he is a complete ignoramus..
these pirates, sailed over a thousand miles from somalia, to mahe, and then back again with the fishermens boat in towe, AND NOTHING...if i were the fishermens family, i would be suing the ministry of defence, the coastguard etc...complete waste of time and resources..
Michel and Morgan ( M&M)..complete waste of human life, your mothers should have swallowed you both, instead of letting your daddies come between their legs

Anonymous said...

seriously...somali pirates, NOT SAS or NAVY SEALS travel a thousand kilometres from somalia, come to MAHE, and take a fishing vessel and two fishermen hostage, and then return the thousand miles back to Somalia completely unchallenged...
complete and utter, fucking disgrace...michel, you and trophy wife, cabinet of wankers should do us all a favour and fuck off..
if it is that easy to invade our country, we should pay some mercenaries like gaddafi did, to invade mahe and get rid off you... these pirates have proved to us, its not that difficult and that we have zero defences against such an invasion..

Anonymous said...

we should get these somalis to come to mahe and kidnapp michel and co...should not be so difficult...maybe throw them overboard to feed the rogue sharks whilst they are at it...fat bastard hermine will probably be confused for a walrus, and first to perish...

And that after the Coast guard failed to act after and should have acted after within minutes after they lost contact with the fishermen this was the first mis-step,but the Coast guard did have a change to correct thier mistakes hours after when the Fish siener was atttacked ,again the coast guard failed to act with the excuse that the French vessel repelled the acttack though the pirates were still in our waters.Twentyx-four our last again a Spanish Fishing Vessel spotted the pirates for the third times the coast guard failled to intervene. All in all this was a demonstration of how bad trained, basd equiipped, bad commandand coordination within the SCG and bad strategy on the part of Pp regime to have appropirate stragety, equippment to prtoect our EEZ and country.
Just imaging if we would have a permanent base of one of our coral island confiscated by Glenny Savy?It would have reduce the risk that pirates reach so near to our shores, even after the hijack as in this case we would have had the poosibility to Chase them more effectively .You have also noted that we cannot only protect our EEZ from pirates but from illegal fishing by Twainese,Iranian,Thai,Chinese and many other ofriegners without control.
All this becuase of our failed communsit regime that has runnout of ideas that it never had anyway and is rusted to its spine.

He is criticising western governments for taking action in Libya and doing nothing about Somali. Does Michel not know that there is no oil in Somali ? He is still mourning Brother Gaddafi.

He forgets that he was on a junket in Australia, yet again, when pirates got within 65 miles of State House.

what does this pirate attack say about our defences ? it is the year 2011, and pirates, probably uneducated guys, from a failed state, in a boat, can travel 1000KM to our shores, kidnap fishermen, and take them back...God (ALLAH) help us if we turn into a muslim state, and the israelis (or any elite forces ) have to send their commandos here for whatever reason ( if it emerges we are harbouring international terrorists etc _ probably are )...
as a nation, we expect our govt to provide us with security, water, food, effective civil service, protect us, judiciary, education etc, and in exchange, we pay taxes...Michel and his govt fail on all these fronts...
the americans don`t want to enter somalia ( see black hawk down) for obvious reasons, as well as zimbabwe, as the previous blogger mentions, there is no oil in those countries also..as in rwanda during the 90`s...the consensus is to leave those africans and let them kill themselves...

Pirates

Why did James Michel need that size of delegation and SBC in tow to go and visit the families of the hostages?
Why should this be such a public circus for the families who are traumatised?
Where is his sense of decency and respect?

I was struck also by James Michel's declaration that his government is going to "intensify" patrols.
Why does he come up with the same tired excuse each time? Seychelles has been under this threat for a long time now.One would have expected government to have a fully thought-out plan and strategy in place ALREADY.

His declaration that Seychelles does not have sufficient manpower to patrol our seas is sending alrm bells. He's saying that he needs to bring in foreign troops.
Here's Khalifa's golden opportunity to station his troops in our country.
With respect to the grieving families, I have a nasty feeling that James Michel has engineered this whole thing to be able to get arab troops stationed here. This was the plan of the new naval base all along. That is why they included a mosque in the plan.
We're screwed. It's either the somali pirates or arab troops in our country.

james michel is useless cunt of a president..
any opportunity for a photo call..
the fact and fault that these fishermen were kidnapped, whilst on home waters, 60 miles from home, and taken to somalia over 1000KM away, lays firmly on his feet..
He is the minister for DEFENCE, and if he cannot defend fishermen, fishing 60 miles from the shore of the main island of mahe, means he is INCOMPETENT..
pirates come this close, and do this, and return to Africa, and then he wants to intensify patrols...its like bolting the gate after the horse has run...he needed to do this along time ago..
Somalian piracy is not a new phenomenon..its been there for the last 20 or so years...he has been in govt for the last 35 years...the blame rests surely on his shoulders..
Pissed off.... where are you ?
all the SPPF sympathisers are deafening by their silence...
I hope the fishermen return safely, i really do..i pray that their fate is better than tham that of others taken hostage, however, if my life was in the hands of joel morgan, i would be scared....

Michel could have made his grand declarations from his teleprompter at state house. He did not have to go and embarass these grieving families with his crowd and tv lights.
It's right that the president wants to express his sympathy and solidarity with the families but if he was sincere he would do this privately - away from tv cameras.

The interview he gave was schoolboy's stuff. Hardly likely to impress anyone or scare off Somali pirates. The dilemma now is the more ransoms we pay, the more lives we put at risk, because the pirates will come back for more money. They know the closer they get to our islands, the more likely they will find boats and fishermen.

Anonymous said...

so, morgan heads the high level committee on piracy, that begs the question, who would have led the low level ? cos if morgan is the best we have those fishermen are fucked..
James Michel is Minister for Defence, and cannot defend us...he is minister for Finance, and we are a bankrupted country, with the highest debt per capita in the world, do you see a pattern emerging ?

reading todays nation, we see the same old James Michel..promising tough action, and radars etc...then ends with ``Morgan will soon explain how the new measures will be deployed``..in other words, he says what he needs to say in front of the cameras, but as usual, there is no substance..
When the royal couple were here, they had the coast guard at their back and call to protect them from paparazzi, but us seychelloise, the fishermen, who put fish in our plates, are unprotected..
I am reminded of the unfortunate Ken Bigley, the british contractor who was kidnapped in iraq, and then beheaded..during the whole trauma, Tony Blair and his govt rang the family and assured them that everything was being done behind the scenes, at no stage did he take his entourage to Bigleys family home for a photo shoot..michel has no class.
I fully understand the need to show that he is doing something, after all, it is his fault ( minister for defence ) that allowed the pirates to capture the fishermen...inviting the families to state house, or even going to the families home, but WITHOUT the camera crews..how can you haev a private and meaning ful conversation, and console somone, with 20 strangers and a tv crew in your living room and in your face ?
The difference with Bigley and the fishermen is also stark, Bigley went to Iraq and knew of the dangers, these fishermen, were 60 miles( less than an hour) from the shore of mahe, not on some distant remote island near somalia, they were seychelloise on seychelloise property, when they were kidnapped..
If you look at the SPPF website, and Michels election propaganda, you see him steering the coats guard ship..acting like he knows what he is doing..Michel, you don`t know ships, in fact, you don`t know shit!!!
I pray to god that the fate that bigley had, does not encounter the fishermen.
We should have a vigil for these fishermen..if they are not released soon, they will slip from the public eye...it is time for the opposition parties to hold Michel for account as Minister for Defence, for allowing this to happen, and in the names of the fishermen, mobilise the masses.
The Arab Spring began with one man, a fruit and vegetable seller setting light to himself, this shuold be our moment..
We are bankrupted by a minister of finance and have a the same minister of defence, who cannot defend us in our backyards....ENOUGH IS ENOUGH..how much more must we take ?

The visit to the relatives' home was in poor taste. Shame, Today did not see that. Where was Michel when the pirates were marauding in the waters of Seychelles ? He was in China to launch his autobiography in Chinese and then he hotfooted it directly to Australia on an expensive junket. He was having FUN while Somali pirates were planning to kidnap hardworking Seychellois fishermen right under his nose. Shame, Today did not see that. Now Michel is talking about putting armed men on fishing boats ! Is that really practical, or just a president at a complete loss and clutching at straws ? Shame, Today did not challenge him on that.

Anonymous said...

the buck stops with James Michel..
he is the minister of Defence. The fishermen would not have been kidnapped if he was doing his job competently, FULL STOP.
The pirates coming to seychelles, is not an unforseen even like the tsunami of 2004. As minister of Defence, he should have defended us, seychellois, the fishermen in our land and waters.
If my son is bullied in school, the minisry of education and the school are responsible, they have a duty of care towards him, if i am misdiagnosed at hospital, the ministry of health is also liable etc..
if two fishermen are kidnapped and taken hostage 60 miles from Mahe, then the minister of Defence AKA james michel, is responsible..END OF STORY..
James michel, should go...
if the pirates are released and a ransom is paid, the pirates will come back for more, knowing its a easy payday, if they are not released, the ministry of Defence is responsible for NOT DEFENDING Seychelloise, on seychelloise property, and are civily and criminally liable..james michel has got himself into this mess..

I just wonder why the family did not shut up their doors when the butcher knocked at the doors. The butcher with his ignorance did not even seem to have asked these families if they wanted cameras in the private homes or not,the butcher just decided by himself.

Michel said we do not have enough manpower.Well what about those thousands of unemployed youth many with qualifications. If there is not enough recrute more Seychellois donkey.

If Michel meansby we do not have enough manpower in order to illegally allow Arabs boots colonize our soveiregn land and control us then we might see us in the streeets sooner than he ever dream of.WE WILL NOT TOLERATE FOREIGN TROOPS STATION ON OUR SHORE,AND LESS aRABS CAMELS.

It is certainly not true that the families of the 2 hostages invited Michel in. Michel forced himself on them and the families had to find somewhere to accommodate Michel and SBC. Michel forgets that we do not all live in presidential mansions. He is so out of touch with reality. If Michel is genuine, he should do these visits without SBC.

The pirates have heard about Siva and Khalifa and are now insisting on a massive ransom. Morgan let on that the pirates' spokespeople know Seychelles and have even visited the country.

Islam has just conquered another corner of the globe. For this one we did not need to commit any atrocities as we normally do when we invade different parts of the world. The president here is a fool, an illiterate to be precise so he will allow us to rape as many women as we want as per the unholy Quran. Our pedophile prophet Mohammed must be lauging in his grave. We are free to bomb churches as we please. The illiterate president says it's OK as long as we reward him well. Hurry up we have lots of work to do here. We need to get the woman in burkas fast, destroy churches, erect mosques, ban music and dancing, introduce sharia law and islamic banking.
Lots of work here dear brother. Vive Michel the illiterate president. Vive Islam. Vive Mohammed.

For the past months or maybe year, I have come to this blog to read about Seychelles news. But, as of today, I will come no more because I find for above post about Muhammad and Islam to be really disgusting.

Chris, how can you tolerate this, my friend?

I always thought that my country, Seychelles and its people were racially and religiously tolerant and all inclusive.
If someone wants to criticise an Arab for political reason, then 'maybe' this is fair but to bring religion into it is shameful.

Just like we do not bring Christ and Christianity when we criticise the Irish, we should do the same for other races.

To me, Christ and Muhammad are great Personnage who have founded great religions and civilizations in our history and should be respected, whether we human beings are today living to their high ideals or not.

I think we are losing our meaning of what a Seychellois creole is; Mixed and all inclusive and tolerant.

Are we becoming bigots!!!

Anonymous said...

Not "bigots" my friend. "Zenofob".
But here's the deal: For our country, we'd rather be zenofob any day. It's zenofobs like us who are going to protect our country.

I agree we should not be bringing religion into this but when catholic priests molest and abuse small boys, priests sleep around contrary to their vow of celibacy, they bring discredit on the religion.
Similarly, there are thousands of atrocities being perpetuated by muslims.A lot of atrocities and weird fatwas. These bring discredit to their religion.Do we want these kinds of people in our country? No way Mohammed!

I shouldn't ask but is there any reason-APART FROM THE VERY OBVIOUS ONE- why James Michel would appoint LISE BASTIENNE as chairman of the La Digue Trust Fund? Isn't there a diguois competent enough to take care of the affairs of their island?
What does Lise Bastienne know about La Digue's needs?

Suddenly, Lise's time as a simple teacher and then clerk at STB look so far away.

Anonymous said...

so, lets get this straight..
every national day, when we go to the stadium, what do we see ? our armed forces marching the quick step wih their shiny rifles.
Now, that we have a situation, that requires our Armed Forces, to defend ourselves and patrimony, what happens ? Michel calls in the Mercenaries ( ghurkas)... why do we have a military, if the military can`t help us in our hour of need..
the enemy, is not a professional army, but unemployed fishermen...surely, our trained, and professional armed forces can deal with them ?

Anonymous said...

Ok!
When a priest molests, do we criticise the beautiful teachings of Christ?

A fatwa is a religious degree.
It also exists in Christianity. The Crusade went to the Middle East (Palestine) by a religious degree and there they shut the door and set fire to the houses with screaming women and children inside, burning them alive.
Religious degree still exists today in Christianity.

Can the action of men cause us to criticise Christ and its beautiful teaching?

The same with Islam, whether there is fatwa or suicide bomber, we cannot criticise Muhammad the beautiful teaching of Muhammad.

Let us stop it with the religious intolerance because it is a raging fire that we will not be able to put off.

Does La digue has an elected mayor? Why does Pp just give more power to local administration/distircts to decide what best for the communities.

About Islam. We could agree and disagree on islam but the point here is that Seychelles is a christian sovereign state being annex by Arabs islamic despots with the help of Pp communists. Our land are being illegally dished to Arabs that we we as christian and people,be it our culture, tradition, language etc have nothing to do with them.Arabs want with the help of Pp to build Moshe on our shore while Muslim community in our represent 0,0001%,Khalifa even wants together with The butcher to even build one in a milit<ry base probably unique in world history.

Islam whether you like it or not, recent events of terror have proven that it is a pseodu.archaic ideology which does not have any place in our society. An as a christian whose religion exist 500 years before even Muhammad was born i do not see any reason why we should change our belif which not only is our belief but more,it is part of our culture to convert into a religion that we do not indentify ourselves with be it historical, culturally, socially, and so on.
Let us protect our land from the invention of a fate that is not ours and let stop Pp and his islamic despots from forcing their pseudo-religion on us.We were a peaceful nation without religious problem Pp is doing all to incite conflict in our soceity we must a people stop that.

Becuase our Commander in Chief is an idiot.
I am not a military expert but let me use my common sense and propose a more effective solution than Michel and goons.

What about for example with consultation with Fisherman Association determining a fishing zone whereby all fishermen will go fishing thus making it more effective to know where they are instead of letting them going fishing one to the North, one to the South, one to the East and one to the west thus meaning making it impossible to have control on them ,their whereabouts and much more difficult to detect their kidnapping.Having a specific and preditermined Fishing Zone will facilitate the Coast Guard jobs to intervene and also have a better control on what goingon in our waters.Since they will all be in the same Zone the probably of indetifing any abnormal movement could be detected early enough thus our coast guard can react rapidly. Moreover,if all fish in the same Zone ,you could have also a Coast patrol present in the zone at all time instead of rooing all over our EEZ to search form lost ships without knowing where to search thus wasting fuel for nothing.Common Sense PP.

Is there anything good that we can do ourselves for ourselves ? It does not look like it under Parti Lepep. What a missed opportunity May 2011 is turning out to be !

Since 1977, we have maintained a standing army and it has cost us no small fortune. Think about the houses that could have been built instead, or the dams, or the roads. You name it, it could have been done, if you know how much we have spent. Accounted for or not accounted for. We did not even have an external enemy back then. Rene had to protect his coup d'etat at all costs.

Now that we need the army to defend us against Somali pirates in skiffs, we are told we need to employ Gurkhas. To spare our army top brass a well-deserved embarrassment, them who are weighed down by medals that they have awarded to themselves, we are also told (as in lied to) the Gurkhas will be under army command. Pull the other one. If the Gurkhas have come to save us, they will want to call the tune. Brigadier Payet will be under the command of the Gurkhas. Of course, the tanks and cannons are no good against pirates. They are left to rot on land. Where's the brigade, Brigadier ?

A while back, when soldiers were deployed on Bird and Denis Islands to carry out security and patrol duties, Michel used this to justify the army and to taunt those who believe Seychelles does not need an army. He is wisely keeping his mouth shut this time and not taunting those who think creating an expensive army was an expensive folly. Somali pirates were not impressed by his boasts. Quite frankly, neither was I.

The British Army is finding it too expensive to employ Gurkhas and is cutting down on recruitment. The Parti Lepep government has the money to recruit Gurkhas who, needless to say, will be paid much much more than our soldiers. Then, Michel will complain that Seychelles does not have the money and other countries should chip in. Who is going to take him seriously when he next pleads impecuniousness ? Not him personally. He is loaded.

This explains one thing very clearly. Parti Lepep has no good strategy to deal with the piracy scourge. Perhaps they thought the pirates had gone away, as it is sometime since the Chandlers were kidnapped. Parti Lepep did not realise that it is just taking the pirates a bit longer to do their deed, as they have longer to travel to reach 65 miles off Mahe. Undetected ! From Somalia to Mahe.

We are well and truly up the proverbial creek without a paddle. And the pirates are getting closer. We might as well start saying our prayers ! Unless the brigadier can find his brigade. Not the light brigade, oh please ! Don't be facetious.

it used to be said, that the scourge of Africa, was tribalism. Whenever a president was elected, he would automticaly put his tribesman in govt and civil service, to protect the status quo, hence the genocide and nepotism, look at rwanda, kenya, uganda, libya, sudan etc, basically every african country, less seychelles.
Seychelles does not have tribalism, but seychelloise. James Michel will go down in history, as the first president in africa, who put foreigners, before his own people.
As the previous blogger stated, our judiciary is rife with foreigners, our police is dominated by Irish, soon our military will be with gurkhas etc.
All of our few profitable national entities, have been sold to an Indian ( ramadoss and valabjhi )..seychelles is marketing itself as the creole capital of the world, but james michel, creole himself, as betrayed his own people.
The fact that gurkas are now going to run our military, begs the following questions, for how long will they be here ? how many are coming down ? what will be the total cost ( accomodation, salary in forex, air expenses etc )who will be in charge of them ?
Gurkas are some of the most feared soldiers so i doubt they will take guidance or orders from brig Payet, who has only fought and lost one battle in his life, the battle of the bulge around his fat gut!!
After 35 years of SPPF leadership, we have a toothless coastguard, very effective in protecting the HRH from the paparazzi on their honeymoon, we all know how dangerous the paparazi are, they killed Diana after all, but against somali pirates are totally useless.
OOUr minister of defence, who is also our minister of finance, and leader of armed forces, then decides to call in the mercenaries to proetct us, proving to all that our military is totally inept.
All those national day celebrations wih the military marching, is a COMPLETE FARCE..
I am ashamed to admit that i am seychelloise.
Fishermen, from a failed state, in skifs, can travel 1000km to our coast, kidnap our brothers, and return, and our coastguard cannot do anything, our military cannot protect us, and we have to call in mercenaries..This is a sad day in our history.
So, after 35 years of SPPF leadership, we are a bankrupt state, with no military and no defence...guess who is our minister of finance, minister of defence and leader of our armed forces ? yes, james michel...for all you doubters out there, what more empirical evidence do you need for you to stop voting SPPF ?
5 more years of this bullshit ?
i would prefer to sell up and go to somalia, unbelievbly, there, where there is no govt, than live here with these corrupt thieving bastards!
35 years ago, the SPPF slogan was foreigners out and seychelles for seychelloise, how things have changed...

James Michel lost the way a long long time ago. His obsession now is to give the impression that he's a better president than Albert Rene.
Of couse he's dreaming. Rene must have been a butcher but he was intelligent. He had a vision, usually WELL THOUGHT OUT and stuck to it. He got on with his job without any tv or cheering cloud. The guy had substance and class, two of the many things James Michel would NEVER acquire, no matter how hard he tried.

Rene unlike Michel though also a dictator refused to sell out his country to foreigners, except a piece of land at Anse Boubin Praslin to RICHI and Desroches Island to the Shah family of Iran but in both cases it was not for one rupee and not in National reserves, and no foreigner shit in our rivers, and disrespect our country's rul of laws like Khalfia and his Arabs clan is doing.Under RENE we had a coast Guard with, i think, about four ships plus two helicopters though all was in place to protect the communist system.

But Whether it Rene ,Michel,Faure ,whoever it is time to get rid of communism.Communism must be banished and radicated in our land and that ,now.

Brigadier Leopold should be adviced to send young Seychellois with A-levels joining the forces to University abroad to study military science then we could at least have some colonels,Majors with Bachelor,Masters etc.. in order that they can do the planing, develop strategies etc for today it is the Indain doing it for us as if we a colony of India.

Michel will probably soon come on SBC to praise Khalifa for the donation and will tell the press or do as Mancham recently did namely telling Khalifa that Seychellois are starting to love him and appreciate him as if he is our king and our country a colony of UEA.And he might even tell us how is it important to have an UAE naval base in our sovereign state with a Moshee in it.

It is always good to be helped by others.but seriuosly we already 35 years independence should we already have all those tools to defence our land?

University Graduates in the army

Rolph Payet can take care of this - God help us!
Does Flo Payet have a place as head of our joke of an army? I don't think so. The modern exigencies require competent people, as a minimum, somebody who can READ a simple speech written for him.
I was embarassed listening to him stuttering away on every word in the speech last night.
Isn't James Michel so deep in mediocrity that he cannot notice that something is wrong?

James Michel is accepting "gifts" left right and centre and to him it's a result of his "active diplomacy"!!! Seychelles diplomacy has been reduced to begging, reduced to sacrificing our pride and dignity as a nation.
This naval base is not as innocent as it appears to be. Khalifa wants to have his own troops to protect him.Use the guise of piracy to base his troops.
I look forward to the day when we would be able to walk with our heads held high, not beholden to anyone, big or small, muslims or bhudists. Not going about the world with a begging bowl. To the day when we shall be able to stand on our own two feet, with the little that we have but PROUD AND DIGNIFY.

The mentality that we have today that we have to celebrate the "gifts" we're given, even as ridiculous as three "tronpet" has been instille into us by SPPF/Lepep.
It's OK to live off the sweat of others.Forget about your dignity as a person and a nation.
This is new "quality" that we can thank James michel for.
Will Danny Faure continue down this sad road as president?
I sincerely hope not.
We can do better, we can be better.

News that UAE is positioning troops here is not surprising but very worrying. It was clear when Khalifa "donated" the new naval base, with a mosque incorporated in the plans, that some muslim elements were going to be based there.
Good old dyak Agatine was quick to defend this and two days ago he was at the base to bless it,along with an imam.
Why should an imam be there? This was meant to be a seychellois event. Can you imagine a situation where each donor has their own religious representative to say prayers???? What for?
I'm no zenophob but these things make no sense and worry me.

It is extremely important to take note that our future is not in the hands of Ramkalawan. Whatever he does is irrelevant to us as a nation. What is very clear is that our inaction which amount to total submission that is giving these political leaders the leverage to think that they can act unilaterally on our behalf without being held accountable. If we want thing to change we has a nation must let these politicians know that we are not their robotic subjects and we are more powerful than them provided that we are united and stage a concerted effort to openly express our disapproval the way things. There is an adage in motivational science which said If you do not do something for yourself other we do it for you. Our problem as a Nation is that we complain so much but we do not act. So our weaknesses of inaction are being currently capitalized by these politicians to destroy our society by their lust of power and self grandeur. Who gave Lepep the mandate to allow UAE to build their base in the Seychelles since this where never put in a referendum to be approved by the people and to my knowledge it was never debated in the assembly. So lepep as usual they do whatever pleases them because the Seychelloise has no gut to bring them to task. Inaction will only bring more suffering to our nation and I am afraid that we will be an Arab satellite in the Indian Ocean if we keep on complaining without being proactive to stop the destruction of our small nation.

Somali pirates and Seychellois fishermen:

Beatty Hoareau mad a very pertinent point on SBC last night: How can the ghurkas, coming from a completely land-locked country, cope in small, cramped fishing boats for long periods of time?
Can they be effective?

Government should not be rushing into hasty decisions that are going to cost us a lot of money with limited success.
As it's taken government this long to come up with a "solution", they should open up this issue for further discussions, not least with the fishermen themselves.

Suggestions of fishing grids and others have been proposed. They need to be explored along with others so that any decision taken is cost effective and successful.
Afterall, we take every issue to the people for discussion before implementation, don't we?

Anonymous said...

My view is that it's high time that these pirates are dealt with like the vermins that they are.
Enough of being the nice guys.
A clear message that they should not be messing up with us should be sent. Nothing can be clearer than a policy of SHOOT TO KILL - ON SIGHT.
There is no reason for a small kiff 50 miles off our coast. There's no need to arrest and question. They should pulverised off the surface of the sea and others would think twice before messing with us.

A word on Michel's rediculous statement in regard to sending our men in uniform to Somali as peacekeepers. One may wonder if our Commander in Chief is well in his mind. This is a guy who has failed to provide adequate equipments and tools to our defence forces to execute their duty effectively but hence he wants to send our men in a no mens land to put their lives at risks .What brings our dear leader to such redicule? It might be that he is opting for the money UN would pay him if he particpate in a UN peacekeepers mission Or simple a sign of how emntally disable our Commander in Chief is.Instead of attempting to send Seychellois on a battle in a foreign land while not being able to defence their own country,Michel should rather propose that AU level that all countires boarded with Somali to engage in a unified way their troops to do the job. After all, they are all driectly concern,it is right at their boarders. To date,be Uganda,Ethopia, with the exception of Kenya are doing enough to secure their own boarders and work to together to solve or at least shows the world that they are taking the risks seriously. Each one until to date, has intervene alone which of course cannot have long term effectiveness.AU so far has been calling on the rest of the world to help bring stability and peace in Somali, but as it common pratice in African mentality, they themselves to donot underatke any action or bring solution but just as Michel does beg others to do the job for them.Should those counitres boarding with Somali start doning the job fiorst before even asking for interantional help? And personally i think ,Uganda,Kenya,Ethopia conbine would be enough without the need fo foreign countries to bring peace there should they act together.

The world should ask African to act and take the lead first before any other countries should help them.It is time the dosmoething by themslves instead of doing like Michel begging and that after decades of independence .

I see Seychelles troops participating in an international peace keeping mission in Somalia but which Somalia? This country is now broken up in several entities each with their own administration. Whose peace are we meant to keep?
AU, UN and others should set clear parameters and be clear what the mission's objectives are before we put our soldiers' lives at risk.
The international community should indeed look at the root of the problem. They should start by cutting off sources of arms to the country and help beef up the authority of the government, however undemocratic it may be.

If the Michel government is making Rene sick, then Rene is just about beginning to feel the way we do. He still has a long way to go, fever permitting. The boycott was a long time coming, especially after the lukewarm endorsement during the presidential elections. And much much has happened since then to raise anyone's temperature. This passive resistance strategy, started by Wavel Ramkalawan with the boycott of the national assembly elections, is obviously catching on. Rene's absence is a boycott. The boycott fever is catching on, whatever the form it may choose to manifest itself in. But what exactly is eating Albert Rene ? Rene is scared a fever will kill him off if he attends his birthday do ? No, he is boycotting. Was the sight of Michel bowing and scraping to his Arabian mates a few days ago too much for Rene ? Or was it the arrival of Khalifa's Etihad bearing a dagger for Air Seychelles the straw that broke the camel's back ?

State House is feeling well and truly miffed at Rene's refusal to decamp from his military camp at Anse Polite for his birthday shindig. No one believes in the fever hoo-ha because Rene's state of health has always been a closely guarded state secret. If Rene had not thrown the surprise at the very last minute, they would not have bothered with the whole thing.

SBC (still under the control of Michel but for how much longer) was ordered to report that the occasion is now a celebration for the elderly which merely happens to coincide with the birthday of Albert Rene. In true communist style, Rene is being declared a non-person even before he has kicked the bucket. What will SBC tell us next ? That Rene's Anse Polite compound is actually a Gulag ?

Never mind Rene's convenient bout of Chikungunya fever, it is Michel who is feeling the heat and sweating. Rene was probably having a right old knees-up at home today, as he celebrates not his birthday but the demise of James Michel who is now a dead man walking.

Anonymous said...

President Rene's fever

Really?
James Michel saw the need today to praise Rene more than he's ever done before. Suddenly, Michel seems to have recalled that another president came before him and "set the foundation for us to build on".
What prompted this sudden surge of fake humility when all along he's been acting as if Seychelles was nothing until he became president?
HE put Seychelles on the map.
HE alone engaged the international community on the specificities of small island states.
HE alone has "a heart for all Seychellois".
The likes of Madanm de st Jore who toiled endlessly, travelling across the globe to make Seychelles known and defend seychelles interests must be turning in their graves to hear James Michel.

All indications are that Rene is unhappy with Michel, has realised a long time ago that he made a grave mistake in handing him the presidency on a plate.

Rene is unhappy at the way Michel is prostituting the country he has worked so hard to build, to arabs.

Anonymous said...

Is this going to encourage Danny Faure to make a move ? Why wait when he can have State House now. We will know whether he is a man or a mouse, now that he has received a public signal from Rene.

Was not the same Mr.Albert Rene who promoted Mr.Michel with the support of all the state apparatus to be the president of Seychelles in order to protect his ill gotten wealth together with all his cronies. Birds of a feather flock together. During his relay inauguration was not the same Albert Rene who told Michel not to listen to anyone and if he needed advice he would be there. What is Albert problem? Did he not know that Mr.Michel did not have the brain to run a country? Who knew Mr. Michel better than Mr.Albert? Now Mr Albert is tasting his own medicine together with all the Seychelloise people. Please do not count on Mr. Albert to uproot his wild grasses in the Seychelles garden. It is us the Seychelloise who needs to uproot the bad seeds that Mr. Albert Rene himself had sow. I do not think that Mr. Danny Faure would be any different to Mr. Michel and in the Lepep rank nobody would be any better because most all of them are marinated in corruption and immoralities. These people are all about themselves. To end I would congratulate Michel for taking orders from the Arabs since he is Lawrence of Arabia and mark my words Lepep is crumbling under our very eye and the people will see them very clearly since they would be not able to blame the opposition since they are not in the assembly. Air Seychelles is being dismantled post-haste. It will have just one smaller plane to fly to South Africa and Mauritius. Michel can then say he kept his election promise, although that's not what HM staff and most people understood his promise to keep HM was. Who will want to use an airline with just one plane with no replacement in case of breakdown ? It looks like very soon we will have just a domestic service and the international service being provided by Khalifa's Etihad and Emirates. It is payback time. There is no such thing as a free lunch or free gifts from Khalifa.

The dismantling of HM has clearly been delayed until after the presidential elections. This explains why PL was keen to call assembly elections early.

I do not suppose we will see Michel visiting HM HQ to explain his deception.

Everything that's happened so far has been well-planned.James Michel and cohorts have been planning it all along. When, before the presidential election, James Michel visited HM offices at Pointe Larue and declared that HM was safe, he was lying for the votes that he needed.
The dutch CEO has simply been made the scapegoat.I'm amazed that government is putting this out as "restructuring & repositioning".Really? When will it be called "bankrupcy & redundancy"?

I am also amzed that, with the magnitude of the implications, government has left this to the CEO of Air Seychelles to issue only a press release. Where is the Chairman of the Board? Where is the Minister of Finance? The Minister of Civil Aviation? The Minister responsible for Tourism?
Why is it that when there is bad news James Michel ALWAYS takes cover and sends others as fodder?
Why can't he be a man, get his advisers to write a speech for him, put on the teleprompter and come out and read to us?
We were warned that James Michel was going to see the end of us. It's coming true.
"Code-sharing with Etihad"?? What a joke. Etihad is simply absorbing Air Seychelles international operations. No more no less. It's pay-back time for the naval base, the desalination plants, the school computers, the hospital.
Did someone say recently that there is no free lunch? So true.

They are all cowards and it is a bloody disgrace. Rene refused to attend his birthday party on the eve of the announcement and Michel is hiding in State House.

This must be the most insulting press release ever in the world.

Even SBC is struggling to find anyone to interview. It has promised a further report in a future news bulletin (the usual "fitir bilten"). If SBC can't get the government to explain, it can talk to the opposition to get their views. That's how it's done in Australia, Wales, England etc where these SBC journalists were trained before they became doormats on their return to Seychelles.

The truth is we have ourselves only to blame. No intelligent people keep a government in power for 40 years, especially not one as corrupt and incompetent as this one.

Too many things don't make sense in this Air Seychelles saga.

We are told by a press release (that's parti Lepep running the country by press release) that we have more seats on flights to Seychelles. We knew that because of Etihad and Emirates.

We are also told that the reason Air Seychelles has gone under is that demand for those seats (i.e. passengers) has not increased.

On the other hand, Parti Lepep including Alain St Ange have been telling us non-stop that there have been more tourists coming to Seychelles. We were also told that Etihad and Emirates are bringing more tourists, not poaching Air Seychelles passengers.

Please stop lying. The demise of Air Seychelles is exposing the liars among us.

The truth is that there are now more seats on flights to Seychelles but there have not been more tourists to fill those seats. It follows that the stronger airlines with owners with deeper pockets (Etihad and Emirates) will beat the weaker ones like Air Seychelles.

Tell the truth please. You will get caught out by the harsh economic realities.

Then they tell us about the crisis in Europe. We know about that. There are still millions and millions of Europeans earning very good salaries who can holiday in the Seychelles. We need only a few thousands of those every month.

But you would expect the crisis to affect all airlines flying from Europe to Seychelles.

But why does Emirates still find it profitable to fly tourists from Europe to Seychelles via Dubai and Air Seychelles can't ?

There are those who say Air Seychelles was charging too much and more than Emirates and Etihad. So the UAE airlines have been undercutting Air Seychelles for whatever reason, putting aside the question of mismanagement at Air Seychelles.

But now that the UAE have a near monopoly on flights between Europe and Seychelles, won't they jack up the price of tickets and charge as much as they can without competition from Air Seychelles ? We will now rely on Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airlines to provide competition on Europe--Seychelles routes and can they !!!

In the long term the Seychelles economy will suffer, if tourists find air tickets too expensive. We will pay heavily for the few gifts from Khalifa and the fact that we cannot say No to him.

The tactics have been tried before on cross Atlantic flights. Big airlines lower fares to drive out smaller competitors and then hike up fares.

But we have a moron at State House who does not understand any of that. We still vote for him.

The thing is that Pp is so use to lying that it has become commonplace ,they donot think that they are lying and forget that facts on the ground prove the contary.

WHAT THEY TOLD US IN AUGUST 2011 ABOUT THE FALKLANDS CONTRACT

Air Seychelles ends Falklands charters - 31.08.2011

Air Seychelles has announced the end of its South Atlantic Airbridge on behalf of the British Ministry of Defence to the Falkands Islands.

This is because the national airline has embarked on a new strategic plan whereby it will concentrate more on its core business in flying more passengers from Europe to Seychelles and vice versa.

Air Seychelles executive chairman, Maurice Loustau-Lalanne has said: “Our Falklands contract providing an airbridge from the United Kingdom to the Falklands for the Ministry of Defence has now ended and we are now concentrating on our core business in flying more passengers from Europe to the Indian Ocean region, as part of a revamped strategic plan.”

The B767 aircraft which was operating the UK-Falklands route will now be deployed to serve the Seychelles–London route via Italy starting on September 8.

In his note of thanks to the services rendered by Air Seychelles, the out-going commander of the British Forces in the South Atlantic Islands, Commodore Philip Thicknesse, said: “Both my command team and I found your crew exceptionally courteous and professional and they managed the challenge very well – and Air Seychelles has been very highly regarded from our island community.”

Air Seychelles successfully bid for the contract in 2009 after the UK Ministry of Defence had to seek a replacement for the previous operator which had stopped flying.

Several other prestigious airlines bid for the contract but Air Seychelles was successful due to its experience with Boeing 767s and flying to island locations.

Air Seychelles is also considered as one of the world’s most experienced B767 operators with over 20 years extended range operations.

WHAT THEY SAY IN NOVEMBER 2011 ABOUT THE FALKLANDS CONTRACT

The situation has become worse as the Falklands charter contract of the UK’s Ministry of Defence was lost in September this year. Therefore, the two Boeing 767-200 aircraft were returned to the lessor in October before the expiry of the lease.

In August 2011, they told us the Falklands contract had been ended because of a new business strategy to concentrate on European routes.

In November 2011, they admit that the Falklands contract was lost and the loss has contributed to the demise of the airline and its European routes.

Say whatever you want,55percent vote for the president and the assembly control by PP,the people voted for them,if we have another election it would be the same result so stop wasting time.Everyone see everything and know everything they like it the way it is.Half of the seychellios people it might be more like the way things are, stop wasting your time just leave them alone.

Anonymous said...

No the people did not vote for them ,Gappy manipulate the vote as always for if your arguement would be true than there would be no need for pp to:appoint emebers of Elelectoral Commission himself when ,there would have been no need to illegally tried to form a fake party with Pierre,no need to forbid access to opposition parties to National media ..etc
And lastly ,using your common sense what the use of having a party in power prohibiting all other parties access to national medais etc when genuinely it has a majoirty support as you want to make us beleive. Why afraid of democracy then when you think you have a majority behind you?Why manipulate elections then?

It is pathetic - by any standard - for our so-called leaders not to come out and tell us what is going on.
James Michel is usually the first to show his puffed eyes and dyed hair whenever there is good news but takes cover when news is bad.
James Michel and shit do not mix, even when shit has hit the fan.

If Seychellois, even those baka drinkers who voted for James Michel last May, cannot see what is going on, then we have a serious problem.
Having said that, what can be worse than drinking delo kaka?
They did vote for Michel in their vast majority didn't they??????

Anonymous said...

Will we now see people go out to the gates of state house and demand justice?
Not in a million years.
People will moan, complain but life will carry on as usual and James will continue to screw us.
In any other country, the people would have taught him a lesson. Not in Seychelles. No Sir.

It's the deception that sticks in the craw. Some of us may well accept the economic case for grounding Air Seychelles. If PL's figures are to be believed, every person in Seychelles has contributed R4000 to keep HM afloat over the last 12 months. More was expected from each one of us in future.

Before the elections, PL was prepared to pump millions into HM and assured us it was to save the airline. It was really to save Michel's arse. The government was not able to forecast the dropping ticket sales a year ago.

With the elections now over, they have no difficulty looking into future to see declining ticket sales. Now they admit that HM is beyond rescue.

The world's economic climate has not changed over the last 12 months. What has changed is that both the presidential and national assembly elections are over. That's why the PL government is telling a different story, as the lies they told to get elected are catching up with them. That's what is hard to accept. The government lying to its people. Many of us expect nothing better from them. But it is still an affront when it happens and it sticks in one's craw.

Don't worry about losing the national airline. When Khalifa's Etihad overflies Mahe, just close your eyes and think of Air Seychelles.

To add insult to injury, they are keeping one aircraft to fly to South Africa and Mauritius. This will be our reminder that we once had a national airline before Khalifa arrived. Business travellers will have no choice but use Air Seychelles on these routes, because no other airline does these so-called profitable routes. Tourists will think twice about using a one-aircraft airline. They will holiday elsewhere. If Air Seychelles' strategic planners are banking on the same level of traffic in future, they are making another big mistake. It is only a matter of time before the SA and Mauritius routes start losing money. No quick release for Air Seychelles. Parti Lepep has decreed a slow, painful death. A party in power for 40 years thinks it can walk on water or fly without wings. That's where the people of Seychelles have gone wrong. The inventors of democracy were no fools, whatever the Seychellois people may think of them.

Anonymous said...

Where are the tourists that Alain St Ange tells us are arriving in droves ? The lies are catching up with Parti Lepep.

We were told that new airlines were needed to increase seats and passengers. Now Air Seychelles is pulling out of Europe and Singapore. How does that increase seats and passengers ?

The demise of Air Seychelles has been so quick, that no other options could be considered apart from grounding it in a few weeks time.

Honourable men would resign over this. Those responsible include Michel, Morgan, Faure and Savy.

JEAN D'ARC i know my country too well and let me tell you i have very good common sense maybe more than C.GILL who once cross the floor and not to forget the SNP fiasco. In some sense, some people will never and never trust the opposition they might be worst than PARTI LEPEP because so far they are all in a mess just like the state of our country.2008 with the economic reform many would have beleived that things was going to be changed and you know what JEAN D'ARC after the PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION 2011 THE PARTI LEPEP MOTORCADE surprise many people, even after the NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ELECTION 2011 IN ALL THE DISTRICT MANY PEOPLE VOTE STILL ENDORSE PARTI LEPEP AND JEANN D'ARC some people even left the opposition party to join PARTI LEPEP.Me i beleive that GOD has given each one of us a mind, spirit and intelligence also understanding.Sometime to beleive that PARTI LEPEP manupilate voters doesn't sound well because i beleive nowadays people knowing too well and see alot this beleive might be just an excuse as usual.Am just an observer expressing my opinion. When i wacth the old people at state house 16 nov 2011 are they really care what going on around them,ONLY GOD KNOWS.As the saying of the parti lepep goes DAN BOTAN,DAN MOVETAN NOU POU KONTIYEN,PLITO NOU MOR KI VIV DAN LESKLAVAZ.Can you reason with such people, teach them whatever you want at the end of the day it is just useless.Have you ever think about LA MISER incident.JEANN D'ARC let tell you me am not afraid of anything i trust my GOD in my everyday life because my life is in HIS hand,GOD THE SOURCE OF MY EVERYDAY LIFE NOTHING MORE.

My friend

I agree with you when you say that some people would never trust the opposition, you know why?Becuase we never have an opposition before what we have had to date,is SNP which is nothing than a PP loyal opposition which sole purpose is to help Pp communist regime stay on power. However, since a few months Seychellois has a real, genuine oppostion call SFP,this party has shown within weeks before the fake Assembly election that people trust the oppostion if it is real, and this can be supported by its of a succeful BOYCOTT it conducted-which checkmate both RAM and Pp .and the effect of the aftermath is evident-RAM is still under shocked,PP is in disarray.

On Pp's Election win-elections conduct under one party state has one purpose and one outcome, in all cases it serve that purpose, namely to keep the crooked reigme on power by all means.Election whereby fraud, manipulation, intimidation etc..are part of the game,is not an election but a criminal process that rob the citizens from their right anf freedom.

The people at State are our grandmothers and fathers who gave the whole lives but working hard for their country,They have done their part for thier country and their hard work which objective was to better the country and better the lives of future generation has been robbed by pp crimnal gang, resulting in our bankruptcy, sell out of our land, poverty and so on....Do they care about what going on,which is your question?Well, send their National medias (SBc,Nation)ask them this question then they will be able to freely answer you,or you can just leave them in peace for the have done their part they deserve some peace of mind.

You say that PP does not steal votes and people know that-Well i guess that why he has soemone like La fortune who i will consider someone with an education that supposedly should automatically knows more-but you know what!He was appointd By Michel as Elctoral Vice President, guess what,He knows so much that he took his first course ever of how to monitor an Election two days before it took place. That is i think a good example of hoe much they know.

On getting PP out.You seems so pesimistic that your beleif that we cannot topple Pp is understandable. But if you would have asked the same question to the Tunisian,Egyptian,Lybian beofre their revolutions many would have probably hold the same opinion as you do.You did hold such opinion when SFP called for a BOYCOTT of the Aseembly Election, even RAM though he deiced to support the boycott was not that convionce of the effect it could have less was Pp who was convinced of win big-but the people took you all hostage of your illusion.I thought you learn from the lesson ,unfortunately you haven't which also explain RAM?S stubborness to participate at the round table.

Good that you put your fate in GOd not a Dear communist atheist Leader,at least you can hope for a place in heaven than hell.

Time for regime change.

Miserable suckers, sent forward as fodder while our president with a heart for every Seychellois has his head buried under somebody's wife's skirt.
What a mess. A real fucking mess.

Anonymous said...

My beloved people - it's time for us to wake up and take our country back.
We need to do it for our children and our grandchildren.

Anonymous said...

Morgan statement was a bag full og illusion and cofusion.

Let us go back on a few points raised by Morgan-(onPiracy)

-Morgan said,we need foreign troop becuase we do not have enough men.Well Morgan the fact is the Pirates have been operating for almost three years in our waters-My question is why all those years you did not trained our people to defence themselves?
_He said,ex-Seychellois if call back for duty will be vulnerable-Yes indeed-For until now our soldiers were trained only how to handle a Ak-47 in order to not protect the country but the Party.

Morgan went on to tell us ,that we do not have the means, well Morgan where did you get money to import and pay Gurkas, flight, feed them ,pay them their salries ,accomodation etc...
_Morgan in fact should only tell us one thing namely that Pp has failed on all fronts and has run out of ideas and solutions.

As to the Gurkas, their present is not a surprise, for do not forget that Khalfia wanted to stationed his troops ,hence Pp has found a reason to stationed foreigner troops on our shores under the guise of fighting Piracy .We must monitor PP ,becuase this Gurkas might well stay here forever thus fulfill Michel and Khalifa 's dreams.

As Air Seychelles. All Air Seychelölois staff should oppose PP polica and conduct a strike immediately to protect thier jobs and make sure our National company does not become an Arab controlled company as Michel and his Arabs dispots want. And we will physically come to particiapte thus help you in your strikes.

Time to get rid from communists, time for regime change.
