Ralph Volcere Served with Court Papers - Mathilda strikes again!

Ralph Volcere served with papers to appear in court on Monday morning. Mathilda Twomey strikes again!

Last Night Friday 9th December, two CID police officers came to my house at around 6.30pm. They served me with court papers to appear before the supreme court on Monday 12th December at 9am. The complaint against me was made on the same day by judge of the court of apeal in regards to the front page article in this week's Weekly issue. The speed at which the papers were drafted and filed and a court date identified and delivered at my house was simply out of the ordinary. If all court cases are address in this manner. There would be no criminal in Seychelles. This is a clear move to stop me from publishing articles about the shennanigans of the CA. On Monday they will issue me with a gagging order. I am appealling to everyone fighting for democracy, freedom and justice for Seychelles to come down to court on Monday just before 9am to show support for the cause. See you there... we have lost a battle but not the war. God Bless all freedom loving people wherever you are in the world. Peace and Love to you all!! RALPH VOLCERE

SOME IMMEDIATE REACTIONS OFF FACEBOOK (which might be banned soon by James Michel and his Communist Party Lepep):

Dear All. Ralph Volcere, Leader of NDP and Editor of Weekly was served with summons to appear in court on Monday 12th December at 9am to answer charges laid against him by Mathilda Thowmey. They want to stop him from writing on the shameful judgement of the Court of Appeal. We must all gather at the court from 8am to give Ralph our full support. We stand for freedom of expression and justice. Enough is enough!

    • Evelyne Honorez Wish I could come to support you, Ralph! This is terrible! Good luck to you and to the people of the Seychelles!

    • Jack Beck DECISION OF COURT OF APPEAL IN PDM CASE REWRITES THE CONSTITUTION

The decision of the Court of Appeal in the case of the Popular Democratic Movement is devoid of legal justification and totally ignores the key provisions of the Constitution regarding the matter of the case. In this decision, the Judges of the Court of Appeal, JJ Macgregor, Twomey and Fernando, have not interpreted the Constitution as it exists, they have written their own. These Judges have decided that the wording of the Constitutional amendment is not suitable and they have made their own amendment.

In its decision, delivered on December 9, 2011, the Court of Appeal found that the PDM was entitled to a proportionally elected seat in the National Assembly from the result of the general election held on October 1, 2011 because it had obtained over 10% of ‘valid votes’. It thus reversed the majority decision of the Constitutional Court given by CJ Egonda-Ntende and J Gaswaga and of the Seychelles Electoral Commission that the Constitution allocates proportionally elected seats on the basis of total ‘votes cast’ . The decisions of these institutions could have been overturned only with clear Constitutional basis which the Court of Appeal has not been able to provide.

The Constitution makes very clear and specific distinction between the allocation of seats to directly elected members and to proportionally elected members.

Article 78 of the Constitution states without ambiguity that the allocation of proportionally elected seats shall be as “specified in schedule 4”.

This Schedule 4 carries the clear tile “Proportionally Elected Members” and deals only with such members. Thus the Constitution clearly sets different rules for the allocation of these seats. The Judges of the Court of Appeal have no basis for saying that the two must be the same.

This Schedule 4 contains the provision that has been quoted so often and which was the basis of the Judgement of JJ Egonda-Ntende and Gaswaga of the Constitutional Court.

“A political party which has nominated one or more candidates in a general election and has polled in respect of the candidates in aggregates 10% or more of the votes cast at the election may nominate a proportionally elected member for each 10% of the vote polled. “

As the two judges of the Constitutional Court stated in their decision, the Constitution has in several instances used the terms ‘votes cast’ and ‘valid votes’ and it is clear that there are two different meanings. ‘Votes cast’ as stated in Schedule 4 is different from ‘valid votes’.

Votes cast can only mean votes that are put in the box. As CJ Egonda-Ntende stated, this is the only possible interpretation. The action of casting the vote comes before any interpretation of the vote as being valid or not. If a vote is invalid, it does not alter the fact that it has been cast.

CAJ Fernando’s statement argues that the Constitution could not have intended to recognise that a person would not vote or would cast an invalid vote. But this is precisely what Schedule 4 does.

The principle of using total ‘votes cast’ may be misguided. If this is so, then we have to go back and change the Constitution. The Judges have no right to ignore what the Constitution says.

The Judges of the Court of Appeal have fallen back, as Judge Burhan did in the Constitutional Court Case, on the Elections Act, which prescribes a different method of tallying the votes. But it is very clear that the Elections Act does not apply to Proportionally Elected Seats.

This is how the Elections Act begins:

Short title and Application 1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Elections Act.

      (2) This Act shall apply for the purposes of: -

      (a) an election of the President

      (b) an election of a directly elected member of the National Assembly

      (c) a referendum.

The Act does not include ‘Proportionally Elected Members’ in its stated purpose and makes no mention of proportionally elected seats. In seeking to rest their judgement on it, the Judges are grasping thin air.

The decision of the Court of Appeal, being so weak in legal justification, undermines the credibility of the Judiciary as the guardian of the Constitution and the law. The decision has grave consequences for our democratic system because it allows the composition of a National Assembly that is not according to the Constitution and by that sets aside the wishes of the electorate.

The Court of Appeal has, in this ill-considered decision, diminished the credibility of the Constitutional Court, of Chief Justice Egenda-Ntende and of the Seychelles Electoral Commission.

Good afternoon,

A country, nation, economy, heritage cannot be managed using the chaotic management Formula -

How many of you have cared to sit down and think hard - where did I/we/my person get the basic or ground stone for political interest, what were they/he/them that inspired and drove me/I/we.

We learnt our basic in Sechelles Seychelles from Mr Adam, Mr Finlay Roseli, then Mr James Mancham, Mr Henrie Gonthier, DR/Mrs Stevenson Delhomme, Oficials of VDC and Seychelles Planters Association. then Mr France Albert Rene and others at the Democratic Party Head quater and the SPUP Office.

We also learnt a great deal in our youth in East Africa, those from Zanzibar who would never have wasted/taken their time to address anybody on the Star or SFP Blog.

In Old Seychelles we also learnt a great deal for individuals who had worked hard to build then Colonial Africa and their experiences. {Hence our statement to you all and the rest of the world - where do you all think we came form, planet jupiter or Saturn}

In exile we have learnt a very great deal. The object of learning is to share, contribute and use it for a positive purpose.

All of you coming on these two blog would be insulting your very person if /should you say you have learnt nothing from President FA Rene and Sir James Mancham.

When a group of people, nation , sciety learns they comport in a better manner, their views and out look of the greater world, life society, their own self, their society, friends and associates takes a very different angle.

Is there something wrong in sharing it on these blogs. The functionality, mechanism of their workings we have contributed to in instances.

We are not ashamed to say we have learnt from those individuals we have mention above, we do not take credit , we give credit - we do trust our younger generation will come forward and tell us who inspired them and where they learnt the rudiment of Sechelles Seychelles politic, and the Indian Ocean Region.

{"There has been a very tragic and grave accident off Italy, 4,000 lives at grave risk - those who understand the working of todays Italian Masoinic Fraternity, the Catholic Church and the Templars - President FA Rene, some of his older Ministers understood such and those issues and the Older individuals like Mr Guy Morel and their reactions - how many of you understand and your reactions/respective positions"}

These Blogs did not formulate and create our living planet and world - it is a small and in instance important inovation which contribute and can contribute in our world and human life.

"It has been shown that unbridled neoliberal approaches to economic development tend to widen the gap in incomes, and generally work to the benefit of those who already wield economic power,” he said, before calling for a path of economic growth that fairly benefits all Seychellois". WORDS PLACED IN JAMES MICHEL'S MOUTH BY HIS SPEECHWRITER.

But is that a criticism of the IMF ? Is it not the same argument Rene deployed against the IMF ?

Marxist old ways die hard, indeed. Those ungrateful gits. After all the IMF has done for them, to rescue them from devastation.

Or quite simply, Michel has no idea what he is talking about.

Anonymous said...

You completely right, this half-brain donkey just do not know what he is saying and as you say -words were placed into his mouth.Economic growths should normally have positive effects on Jobs creation, increase financial dividend, improve the standard of living of the people.Pp tells us we having an economic growths never achieved before-thus why is it that unemployment has sky-rocket?why is it that our people have become poorer?Of course our super economists Afif,Faure Michel cannot explain themslves.

With Pp all happens by magic-Acadabra?here we are with the super economic growths concocted for us by the masters of economy Afif ;faure And Michel. If Pp magic formulaes are so successful ,then Faure deserve to be named for the NOBLE PRIZE OF ECONOMY.(fakonomy).

The other day Pierre Laporte was singing on SBC. Perhaps this is what he should be doing for a living.

The Chinese Ambassador in a short speech welcomed the initiative, adding that the embassy would help to promote the islands as a destination for the Chinese travel market, adding: “When I was first posted to these beautiful islands, truly like Heaven on Earth, there were two principal reactions from my counterparts. The first was one of compliments and how fortunate I was to be given such a posting to such a friendly and beautiful country as the Seychelles, and the other was a question, and that was, where is the Seychelles?”

I bet the Chinese ambassador asked the same question when he was told he would posted to Seychelles.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Alain St. Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, having just returned from an important overseas mission that morning added his compliments to all the assembled DMCs, saying that the Chinese market would work and prove to be of importance to the Seychelles travel market. “This signing of an MOU between all the DMCs comes at the right time. The government of Seychelles has decided to open direct air access between Seychelles and China. To make this initiative, we all need to work together, and today’s show of unity among all the local tour operators is, therefore, welcomed,” Alain St.Ange said.

Bless Alain St Ange ! He is as optimistic as ever, despite the tourism industry collapsing on his watch. He would have made a good captain of the Titanic. Brother Raymond is not helping at all and is out of his depth. We saw him on SBC the other day struggling to talk about the tourism industry and how to sell Seychelles to the Chinese. Perhaps they should remind the Chinese that we are a communist state and we expect some solidarity from Chinese tourists in our hour of need. On the other hand, Chinese tourists probably detest their Communist government anyway and the foreign governments that support the Chinese communist state. We could sell democracy to the Chinese tourists as an alternative to what they have at home, but we are well short on that score.

How do we get out of this brown stuff that parti Lepep has landed the country in ?

I wonder what IMF will say to Michel?

Of course those in the IMF who know that Michel growth is a fallacy avoid straight talk and prefer the tip-toe and tap-dance around the truth instead of saying the plan is mainsfestly doomed to failure ,should Michel not shake his balls and look at our economic realities in the eyes. For Michel's economic planning is based on juggled figures ,masseged statistics and irrational exxuberance about oeverrated and illusory economic development.Systematic falsification of economic datamfradulent statistics and creatice accounting in economic reports have largely gone underchalleged for years now by the learned economists. The lacks also of sytematic and sustained critique by some leaders of opposition leaders is all the more surprising and baffling given the fact that the economic swagger and windbagger about stratospheric economic growth and development comes from a regime known for his economic literacy.

Post 9.54 Am 15jan12
How to solve the problems?

First thing Pp must do is change the way it defines the problems.
_Reduce inflation, for accelerating inflations threathens growth and livehood.
_Increase wages ,thus give consumers more spending power.
Pp needs to work off its astronomic debts-that trend-line government spending is already too high relative to both GDP and Taxes government collects. And so on and on.
These are only some ideas, for we are not here to help out pp crooks from the shit they created.

1964 Above:

Again you have missed my point.

While I am sure Christopher nor anyone else with any sense would advocate returning our motherland to 1964 it does not make the past irrelevant. I have explained several times in prior postings why that is so. I suggest you review them.

But to give you an example of its relevance in a context you might understand let me refer you to June 5th 1977. The Collaborators celebrate this date and its significance to them not to retrun us to June 5th 1977 but to celebrate the date they betrayed Sesel Pou Seselwa they advocated since 1964 and to celebrate the caputre our patrimony which has allowed them to sell us out to Fabrike and foreigners.

The point I have thus far unsucessfully attempted to make to you is that if you do not stand for something you will fall for anything. That is why the Collaborators do not want us to remember 1964 - they want us to fall for anything they do or say. Reference to 1964 says we stand for something that we will never compromise. That something is that we will never sell out our patrimony to anyone and we collectively will not let anyone do so as well.

Stop pretending that anyone wants to kill you and Totof off. Ase fer kouyon mon boi sa komsi pe gat en bomb lo en konmen! Do not delude yourself with all this self importance bullshit!
First of all you cannot even write properly to explain yourself – I was straining myself to understand what the hell you were saying. Your school master/mistress must be cringing if they are reading your post! I suggest you start writing in our mother tongue. One of the first thing that the great, yes GREAT FAR did as president was to develop our Creole as a separate language, with its own orthography and grammar, establishing Lenstiti Kreol for this purpose so that morons like you who find it hard to speak or write English and French will still have an outlet of communication. So as a self proclaimed politician and homme d’affaire I suggest that you save your self some embarrassment and start writing in Creole…if you can muster that simple task that is! What a coincidence that you, Johnny and Jeanne d’arc have the same appalling writing – you guys not only went to the same “colledge & university” you must have sat next to each other in class!
In future, think twice before you, Totof or anyone of your little minions pokes fun at our president’s English – let an educated man judge him!
And far from the delusion of your simple mind, you have no idea who I am. All you are doing is feeling in the dark trying to guess my identity and making an even bigger fool of yourself that you already are!

As for your roast beef I would advise you to slow down a bit. Haven’t your doctor told you that too much read meat is unhealthy for you? We have been blessed with an abundance of fish rich in nutrition and omega oil – don’t be a show off with the roast beef – enjoy our fish, they are tastier and more nutritional and cheaper. After all, with all the roasting you receive on here everyday I would have thought it would put you off it altogether! Feed your son with fish it will develop his brain cells and hopefully he won’t end up a retard like daddy!

And please stop inflating Christoper Gill – he is fat as it is, anymore hot air and he will explode! “He is not president yet”. Not now and not ever! One Mancham as a short term president was enough to give us indigestion we don’t need any of his bastards to take his place. And no Gill or Celtel either!

Here we go again ! Supreme Court judges, sitting as the Constitutional Court, have declared the re-appointment of Court of Appeal Judge Domah as unconstitutional. It is a rare victory for the Constitution of the Republic of Seychelles that does not get much respect from Parti Lepep and those Parti Lepep appointees who have supposedly sworn to uphold and defend it.

Domah was re-appointed by Michel following the recommendation of Parti Lepep-dominated Constitutional Appointments Authority who in turn received a recommendation from the President of the Court of Appeal, Francis MacGregor.

Following hot on the heels of that dodgy and much ridiculed judgment that appointed David Pierre as "leader of opposition", the Court of Appeal has been thrown into crisis once again. The culprits are the President of the Court of Appeal, the Constitutional Appointments Authority and James Michel himself.

Will Domah now appeal to McGregor's court or will he do the decent thing and accept that there were no "exceptional circumstances" to re-appoint him. There are many qualified people in the country who can do the job.

Any appeal by Domah is bound to throw the Court of Appeal into further disrepute. MacGregor can't get involved in this appeal at all. This means he will have to step down as President of the Court of Appeal if Domah appeals. MacGregor cannot be allowed to select the judges to hear the appeal, even if he is not on the panel. He is too compromised. It was poor judgement to get involved in Domah's job application in the first place and he should resign for that.

Anonymous said...

So, Domah wasn't a judge at all and all cases heard by him will have to be re-heard. Shame he did not hear the PDM case. David Pierre is thanking his lucky stars that another Court of Appeal panel will not get a chance to rectify that gross error.

Maldives military arrests top judge, spark protest
(AP) – 3 hours ago
MALE, Maldives (AP) — The Maldives' military has arrested the chief justice of the country's criminal court after he released an opposition leader who had been detained without a warrant for allegedly defaming the government.
Monday's arrest of Judge Abdulla Mohamed has prompted all courts in Maldives to boycott sessions Tuesday, in what could become a showdown between the country's first government chosen in free elections and the independent judiciary introduced by former pro-democracy political prisoner President Mohamed Nasheed after coming to power in 2008.
The arrest of a judge by the military is unprecedented in the Maldives, which became a multiparty democracy after 30 years of autocratic rule. It also sparked a brief street protest in the capital of the Indian Ocean archipelago.
A government statement quoted Foreign Minister Ahmed Naseem as saying Tuesday that Mohamed was arrested "for corruption, in particular for allowing his judicial decisions to be determined by political and personal affiliations and interests."
"The government of the Maldives fully supports and will always protect judicial independence," Naseem said. "However, judicial independence does not mean that judges are above the law and can behave as they see fit contrary to the laws of the land. A judge is a citizen of the Maldives no more or less important than any other citizen."
The country's supreme court, the prosecutor general's office and judicial services commission all issued statements calling the judge's arrest illegal and requesting his release.
The prosecutor general's office said that under the constitution a judge can be arrested only after a supreme court decision to do so.
With no positive response to their calls to release the judge, all other judges and court staff announced they are boycotting sessions and not extending detention orders on Tuesday.
Opposition activists said the arrest was in retaliation for the judge's ruling that opposition leader Mohamed Jameel Ahmed's detention a day earlier was illegal.
Police arrested Ahmed for allegedly defaming the government during a television interview in which he accused Nasheed's government of working against the state religion, Islam, with the support of Christians and Jews. Opposition activists say the government is trying to use an old criminal defamation law to persecute them while it is not part of the current democratic law.
Religious debates have gained prominence in this Sunni Muslim nation of 300,000 people where practicing any other faith is forbidden.

Spanish judge who charged Pinochet stands trial
By DANIEL WOOLLS, Associated Press – 2 hours ago
MADRID (AP) — The Spanish judge who became an international human rights hero by indicting former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet went on trial Tuesday over his handling of a domestic corruption probe in a case that could end his career.
Baltasar Garzon was to take the stand as a criminal defendant at Spain's Supreme Court. He is charged with overstepping his jurisdiction by ordering wiretaps of jailhouse conversations between three defendants and their lawyers.
The trial launches a grueling judicial ordeal for Garzon, who enjoys superstar status among rights groups for championing cross-border justice but has many political enemies at home.
Next week he faces another, bigger trial for probing right-wing atrocities during the 1936-1939 Spanish civil war. The crimes were covered by an amnesty passed in 1977 as Spain moved to restore democracy after decades of dictatorship under Gen. Francisco Franco, whose side won the war. Franco died in 1975. That trial is expected to take a month or more. Just three days have been set aside for the one that started Tuesday.
Some 50 supporters cheered outside as Garzon arrived at the ornate 18th-century palace that houses the Supreme Court. As he stood outside the chamber before the trial began, colleagues of his from the National Court — from which he was suspended in 2010, over the civil war case — hugged him, patted him on the back and kissed him on the cheek.
With his trademark slicked-back graying hair, the barrel-chested Garzon spoke with a hoarse voice, saying he was overcoming a cold and fever but was otherwise in good shape. "Fine, just fine," he told The Associated Press.
Later, as a seven-judge panel heard a clerk read out the charge and the background of the case, Garzon sat quietly with his lawyer, reading papers and taking notes.
The corruption case centers on a network of business people who are accused of paying off members of the conservative Popular Party — now in power in the central government — in exchange for lucrative government contracts in the Madrid and Valencia regions.
Spanish law allows the bugging of jailhouse conversations between terrorism suspects and their lawyers. But it is vague on non-terror cases, saying jailhouse wiretaps can be ordered by a judge if he or she believes the conversations will yield evidence germane to an investigation.
Garzon has argued that he ordered the wiretaps in 2008 because he thought people visiting the three suspects were acting as couriers to receive money-laundering instructions.
Lawyers for those three detainees argue that, since the law does not specifically allow for bugging of conversations between detainees and their lawyers in non-terror cases, Garzon acted illegally. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of removal from the bench for 17 years. He is now 56, and judges in Spain tend to retire at 70.
The case has been brought because of a complaint by those lawyers, even though prosecutors say Garzon did nothing wrong and should be acquitted. This is a quirk of Spanish penal law — private citizens can seek to bring criminal charges against someone even if prosecutors disagree.
The same circumstances exist in the civil war case.

It is not the letter from the CAA to James Michel to appoint Domah that should be criticised. It is the whole set-up whereby the CAA puts forward candidates that they think Michel and PL will approve that is wrong and corrupt.

I hope Domah sticks to his guns and appeals. He asks for 2 years to bring it to a total of 7 years as per constitution, but they give him another 5 years making it 10 years which is forbidden by the constitution. He is a victim of a corrupt system. His appeal will further expose how bad the system is.

Too many people in this country think they can do whatever they want, as they have been doing for 34 years while sticking two fat fingers up at the constitution and law and order. MacGregor obviously thinks he is beyond the law and above the constitution. He has irreparably damaged the Court of Appeal and he should go.

Our people who will need to pay back all these loans have a right to know how those monies are being used. The world Bank must not support Pp dictaotrship which is nothing than State terrorism.

I think it was a bit much to expect the judges of the Constitutional Court to show real independence from the executive in the Domah/Dhanjee case. It was strange that they had dared to deny Michel his choice of Court of Appeal judge.

From what SBC is saying, the CC has left the door open for Domah to be re-appointed by Michel, provided the CAA writes the correct letter.

The CC is simply saying that the CAA was wrong to write to Michel asking for Domah's contract to be extended from 5 years to 7 years.

Extending the contract from 5 to 7 years would have been a grey area, constitutionally. Domah was entitled to be appointed for 7 years. But the constitution forbids re-appointment without "exceptional circumstances".

The Constitutional Court is saying that the contract could not be extended because the Constitution makes no provision for "extension" of contract and in any case the original 5-year contract had not expired. I am sure that was not what Dhanjee had complained about.

From what SBC is saying, there was no ruling on "exceptional circumstances".

This means all the CAA has to do now is to do what I thought had been done before, albeit unconstitutionally. The CAA can put Domah forward for re-appointment for 2-7 years, citing "exceptional circumstances".

Would we not be back to Dhanjee's original complaint of what are the exceptional circumstances ????

Let's hope the Constitutional Court has not given Dhanjee a pyrrhic victory, knowing that procedural defects in Domah's appointment can be easily remedied, while the judges make a "show of independence".

This is like the PDM case where Court of Appeal judges rejected Basil Hoareau's arguments but came up with their own reasons to rule in favour of PDM.

If the judges have not ruled on "exceptional circumstances" as demanded in Dhanjee's motion, then the question of re-appointment of foreign judges has not been settled by the Constitutional Court.

It seems the judges have said this is not a case of "re-appointment under exceptional circumstances" but an extension of contract from 5 years to the maximum 7 years.

State House compounded the problem by ignoring the CAA's recommendation to extend Domah's contract by 2 years, but instead "re-appointed" Domah's for 5 years. But the judges have decided to concentrate on the letter from the CAA to Michel and not on what Michel had done.

Parti Lepep's legendary incompetence is exposed once again by timid judges who have shied away from the central question of what constitutes exceptional circumstances for the re-appointment of foreign judges. Supreme Court judge Gaswaga was re-appointed because he is a good judge and had outstanding cases to judge. Perhaps Supreme Court judges are not in a position to rule on what the Constitution means by exceptional circumstances, because it is an issue that is too close to home for them. We have the CAA and Parti Lepep to blame for such a situation where judges are too compromised to judge properly. Classic symptoms of a banana republic. They have all gone bananas !

So, Alsin St Ange thinks a flight Milan-Rome-Seychelles is a non-stop flight. What's the plane doing in Rome then ? Tourists from Milan will be told it s a non-stop flight, only to find the plane stopping in Rome about an hour later.

The three judges have done what the rules of law stipulated and that how they should conduct themsleves.Having said that and knowing their past failures to abide by the rules ,one can also ask if this is not an attempt to give us the impression that our justice is fair in its delivery of justice and should Volcere be found guilty on 25 th Jan. which is the aim of Pp(to silent Opposition )then we should accept whatever court dicided in his case.It might be a way to cover up what is coming up for Voclere under the guise of fairness.
We will watch them carefully and closely.

Typical STB looking at it from their viewpoint and not from that of the tourists. It is a nonstop flight into Italy from Seychelles but not nonstop from Milan to Seychelles. Perhaps by NONSTOP they mean you avoid stopping off in the UAE and a recognition that tourists do not want to spend hours in an UAE airport terminal. But then why did Parti Lepep promote UAE airlines at the expense of Air Seychelles ?

In the case of judge re-appointment,we see again the same problem as in the case of PDM whereby PP cronies who have for decades ignore our constitution and rules of law telling us once again it is a question of definition, terms, interpretation, which in fact shows us how ignorance those Pp ilks are.Andas always Michel feels he can act above the law and can over-rule judges decision at will.

The SPPF was founded in 1964 by France-Albert René, under the name Seychelles People's United Party, and it has been led by him

We have several students of History and researchers at Home - one of the more famous Mr Julien Durup. It has taken the like of him to shed lights and research many of our Colonial history past and all the efforts to bury them to date his efforts and achievements requires national recognition. Yet he does not get it.

Mr Christopher Gill, one of the son of Mr Peter Gill, have written and explained how his Father contributed to the setting up of the People New Paper. Yet in our Official History records and Wiipedia it is stated otherwise and nobody, no efforrts is/are made to corret this - resulting our children, future generation, the world, the African Union, the Commonwelath, the UN and the EU Institutions continue to write and publish lies, use legal and policing institutions of the West to opress anybody who dare speak and say otherwise.

From our part we have know and been addressing about those issues and lies, anomalies for the past 25 years too. Where by others have worked and those in Sechelles Seychelles who have taken credits and take credits and nobody do anything to challenge them.

In a thread we addressed recently we explained we were happy to give credits to personalities like President FA Rene, Sir James Mancham, and several others - the learning process of anybody from Sechelles Seychelles who wish/want to learn about the rudiment of politic.

Given Mr Christopher demand on Star and SFP Blog, call - emphasis for transparancy, accountability, the issues of Seychellois racine. What we have come up with a bit of digging. All those on the Star and SFP Blog accusing him of Floor Crosssing, like Mr David Pierre and many others form the SNP at the last election.

Wikipedia state that it was Mr France Albert Rene who founded and started SPUP, all the SPPF/PL today their politic, belief, ideology, dogmas and approach to Socialist politic. The Seychelles media today.

The evidences point/show that prior to SPUP there was another important and strong political party - entity in Sechelles Seychelles - SIUP - Seychelles Island United Party - (their Emblem wooden shield and two hands shaking. ) Their meeting place was a Bar across the St Don Bosco School - not to be confused with the Bar on the corner of Mr Marcel Zatte shop, Harrison Street Mr Gustave De Comramond - Le Seychellois.

Some of the founding Menbers were:

Mr Hockaday Payet - known as Mr Harry Payet - (we knew him resonably well his daily visit to my uncle clobbers shop, Mr Desire Ah time vis the Seychelles Police Station. ) His many important speech at the then Gordon Square before Mr FA Rene and Mr James Mancham return to Seychelles after completing their law studies in England.

Mr Riffnay Jumeau

Mr Finlay Roseli

Mr David Joubert

Mr Serge Pothin

............

Mr Hokade Payet - Harry Payet Founder

A Person they called" Tipin" - short, quasi errend person.

Mr Philibert Loiseau

Mr Micheal Green

.............

(FA Rene) took it and changed to SPUP after his return from England as a lawyer - the issues of his takeover/battle.

The people of Sechelles Seychelles need to give credit were credit is due so that our children, future generation learn to believe in their values.

Every day we listen and hear President JA Michel talk about moral values, moral rebirth, special values, on and on. Given the many institutions he has allowed that they exist the past 5 years it is time he come forward and explain, use these resources to explain to our children , those old people who have forgotten or never got to know who started what and by whom - what took place.

A nation cannot be fed for ever on con, lies and mass media manipulation.

DUBAI, JAN 25 - Etihad Airways will acquire a 40 percent stake in Air Seychelles, its second airline acquisition in the last five weeks as the rapidly growing Abu Dhabi-based carrier embarks on an ambitious expansion plan.

Etihad and the Seychelles government will each invest $20 million in the state-owned airline, Etihad said on Wednesday. The Abu Dhabi airline will also provide a $25 million loan to help Air Seychelles meet working capital requirements and support network development.

"The investment in the national carrier of Seychelles is a natural next step towards growing our operations in the increasingly important leisure markets of the Indian Ocean and Africa," Etihad's Chief Executive Officer James Hogan said in the statement.

The agreement also includes a five-year management contract for Etihad Airways to encourage Air Seychelles' long-term growth, the statement said.

Last month, state-owned Etihad acquired a stake of around 30 percent in Germany's Air Berlin.

Middle East carriers such as Etihad, Qatar Airways and Dubai-based Emirates have been aggressively expanding route networks, provoking fears that Gulf-based superjumbos would draw traffic from European carriers' hubs.

Qatar Airways recently acquired a 35 percent stake in all-freight carrier Cargolux, while the Air Berlin stake buy was the first time a Gulf carrier has bought an equity stake in a European passenger airline.

I Jean-Paul Isaac hereby certify that we have never received or intend to take up any money from any foreigner or business man or Parti lepep to sell out the people.

Seychelles freedom Party's funding should not upset Key figures in the SNP especially Gervais Henrie who struck in business with partner Lindy and opened a newspaper to overthrow Wavel Ramkalawan in his ambitions for leadership.

We know that with the coming of our newspaper Seselwa magazine all fake opposition party members and executives are alarmed and in full fabrication of an illusion that we have ceased function.

All freedom loving Seychellois should know that people like Christopher Gill who gives away the three thousand rupees received from his years as a member of the national assembly are the sources of our collateral for staffs and public members that we aid.

Our apology for fake profiles insinuating bogus claims in my name and in others but nun like people's party we do not conduct political cleansing to deal with spam, or viruses we scan repair and if beyond salvage we delete it.

Regards your youthful Secretary General Jean-Paul Isaac in full corporation with Christopher Gill and our executive.

Volcere is back in court on 6 March. Judge Dodin presiding, unless he gets cold feet too and his wife can convince him to feign illness. Gustave, beware the ides of March !

There was more musical chairs in the judiciary this week. Chief Justice Egonda-Ntende stood down from judging a case because someone had written to him saying he had no confidence in him. Oh, bless his cotton socks.

Don't you wish more judges would follow his lead ? Had Twomey recognised her substantial vested interests in the PDM case (cf her three sheets to the wind brother who is close to James Michel), our constitution would not be weeping now.

Also, Francis McGregor would do the decent thing and retire from the Court of Appeal. This Parti Lepep die-hard has vested interests in all political cases before the Court of Appeal.

Perhaps the Supreme Court, fed up with a politically motivated Court of Appeal overthrowing its judgements on political grounds, wants to set example for the justices at the Court of Appeal to follow. But chance would be a fine thing.

Now that TERI University in India has linked up with University of Seychelles, what do we see ? TERI gives a doctorate to James Michel. You can see where this is leading. As soon as UniSey is allowed to award degrees, Michel will be handing out UniSey doctorates hand over fist to foreign leaders (Khalifa is queuing already), in the expectation that these foreign leaders will lean on their universities to award Michel a doctorate. Beats burning the midnight oil, wracking your brains and sweating for one ! Where did I lay my AK47 to start my career, a la Col Dr Michel ? Failing that, beam me up, Scotty.

Long live SNP !

SNP AGENDA 2012: ELECTORAL REFORM

At every stage of a country’s development, certain things take priority and sacrifices are made. SNP and the real opposition in Seychelles decided to boycott the national assembly elections for one reason: electoral laws and the electoral environment are unjust and Seychelles needs electoral reform.

SNP made painful sacrifices, but they were done for Seychelles. It is for this reason that our engagement in the electoral reform process is profound and serious. We wish to see better laws in the country, so that the playing field can be made level and all politicians and political parties have equal opportunity.

SNP made its intentions clear after the presidential elections. We boycotted all national assembly business, except that for electoral reform. We presented motions through Mr Bernard Georges to demonstrate our seriousness and desire to move things along.

At the start of 2012, we wish to make it clear that electoral reform remains our priority. We will participate in the work of the Electoral Reform Forum to try and give Seychelles the best laws possible.

Seychellois, this work is very important and we will not hesitate to give it its due importance. We hope everyone else will take it seriously and bring forward valid proposals. SNP has already produced several papers on this topic and more will be produced in the months ahead.

Seychelles deserves the best. SNP has been working hard for Seychelles for a long time. We will continue because of the love for our country.

Seychelles is topsy-turvy !

Last year, James Michel and Parti Lepep were shouting “Victory for Seychelles” at the top of their voice. But this year, the very same James Michel has chosen the theme of “Work hard for Seychelles”. You can tell the country is topsy-turvy. Since when does anyone celebrate victory before the hard work is over ? This shows us that the country’s leaders take the people for fools whom they believe will swallow whatever is fed to them. For how much longer will that kind of mentality persist in our country ?

Our country lives upside down. As long as Seychellois are prepared to sit back and allow these ‘doctor know-alls’ to abuse our intelligence, they will do whatever they want. It is clear that everyone must take a stand so that things can change and move in a different direction.

Seychellois must engage their brains in 2012. We must use our God-given wisdom to achieve results. It is that sort of hard work that will allow us to see through the tricks of these politicians and reclaim our country for Seychellois.

Rogue cop was in uniform on 1 January

It is true that in this country leaders say one thing and do something else completely. The trouble-making policeman who released ‘tear gas’ on innocent people and was supposed to be on suspension was in full uniform on 1 January at a ceremony with James Michel. Does that mean James Michel like rogue policemen or does the police take everyone, including James Michel, for peabrains ? Perhaps Marcelline should ask James Michel for his opinion on this filth.

Political skulduggery ruins Air Seychelles

Every Seychellois now admits that there is too much hypocrisy and treachery in Seychelles. Air Seychelles is a good case in point. Those who swore to destroy Air Seychelles are now shedding crocodile tears over its demise, and those who swore to protect the workers are now the driving force behind the mass sackings. At the same time, those who asked that Air Seychelles be left out of party politics are the same ones in cahoots with Parti Lepep politicians to decide whom to fire from their job. These are real hypocrites shedding crocodile tears.

Sacking procedures

We know for a fact that politics are playing a key role when it comes to sacking employees. Selection was not based on competence or ability, but on whether the employee supports the system or not. However, to hide this fact, they also fired a few Parti Lepep supporters who in any case have been promised other jobs or contracts so that they can be self-employed. Opposition supporters have been fired, even if they were competent workers. Even Parti Lepep supporters can’t resist talking about this.

Names sent to branch offices

Parti Lepep politicians in district offices were asked to examine the names of some employees. The sifting started there. One list was produced, followed by another one. Even where Air Seychelles management wanted to retain the best staff, State House insisted that opposition supporters were sacked. Political considerations had the last word. They ensured that opposition supporters were sacked and Parti Lepep supporters were retained.

Experienced workers – out

The political demagoguery was evident when you see that the first group of sacked workers included very experienced and loyal employees, whereas those who were recently re-employed and had poor record were kept purely for political reasons. Does this not make you worry about the direction Air Seychelles is taking ? Or does this not tell us that they have no idea which direction to take ?

Solidarity with workers

Bad planning by the government has made many young families with debts lose their jobs at the start of the year. Politicians who were supposed to have these people’s interests at heart have let them down, and allowed their own politics to have priority. SNP and the other opposition stand beside them and express their support and solidarity. We ask them to be courageous and stand with us in this struggle.

Parti Lepep has redesignated the Somali pirates as "illegal immigrants" and flown them home by IDC private plane.

So, when is a Somali caught wondering in Seychelles waters not a pirate but an illegal immigrant ? It seems that whenever Parti Lepep goes soft on piracy.

6 March 2012: We want justice

6 March 2012 must become a very important date for all Seychellois who stand up for justice, freedom and free speech. That day the Ralph Volcere case will be heard at the Supreme Court. You will recall that this case concerns the comments that Mr Volcere wrote in Weekly about the case that PDM had brought against the Electoral Commission on the election result.

A very malicious case

We in the opposition know the full intrigue and machinations of this case. We know who dreamt up the initiative to trump up charges against Mr Volcere, which magistrate plotted with the Attorney General to beef up the case, which judge connived and gave advice and who said that everything must be done quickly. We must not forget that the Court of Appeal judgement was on Friday morning. All the paperwork was done soon afterwards and Mr Volcere received the summons at 6.20pm that Friday to appear in court to be judged on Monday morning at 9. What do you call this, if not malice ?

No time allowed to prepare case

The other thing that shows that the Government was not motivated by justice was the Attorney General’s insistence to the judge that the case must be heard there and then. When Mr Volcere’s lawyer, Mr Derjacques, put forward legal arguments and principles of justice, Mr Govinden reacted nervously and yelled in court. Does this not tell us that the government was resorting to injustice to favour its own clique ? There are people who have been kept on remand for years waiting for their case to come up !

Anonymous said...

The key is the fight for justice

Every Seychellois must understand that the fight for justice is the most important engagement for Seychelles. The absence of justice affects everyone and every institution. Your rights as a citizen are not being recognised and the authorities are treating you as slaves. That is why SNP has always appealed for everyone to unite to fight for the rights of each one of us. It is that that will allow you to make progress and get the respect that we deserve. The fight for justice must not be seen as the concern of just a few people. We are all in it together in this fight.

Freedom of expression must be preserved

Every Seychellois must also understand that we must preserve the freedom of expression. Without the right to express our opinions, obtain information and expose all the tricks going on in the country, we will continue the headlong march towards the precipice. That’s what the government wants, but us the people must stop this from happening. That’s why we must come down on 6 March to show our solidarity. Our actions will show clearly that we want to preserve freedom and we condemn manoeuvres that keep us in the dark.

You can count on SNP in 2012

At the start of a new year, we say one thing to all Seychellois: you can count on SNP to defend your rights. SNP are no Judas and no traitors. Together with Mr Volcere and Mr Boulle, we represent the real opposition in Seychelles. We are no turncoats or Judas. We are working for a new Seychelles with a level playing field where every Seychellois has the same life-changing chances and every Seychellois is allowed to live free.
