The Seychelles Column - By Christopher Gill

Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures…

…Ancient Communist saying!

No sooner that the Seychelles Freedom Party (SFP) was registered, and I gave a press conference calling for an all out BOYCOTT of the national Assembly elections, joining officially along with NDP and SNP. Immediately, the Election Commission registered another political party called Seychelles Popular Democratic Party, headed by Mr. David Pierre, ex SNP who turned in his membership to his party on national television. Mr. Pierre, was the Deputy Secretary General of the SNP.

David Pierre - SNP 2010 Conference addressing delegates on the issues of election, money and vote buying.  How ironic!

David Pierre

Correspondingly, the SPDP leader has announced, through SBC help, that he and his party will be participating in the upcoming elections for the National Assembly. They will field candidates, they will seek legislative office, and they will have a vote for the leader of the opposition.

This position is completely contradictory of the common unifying platform of the Seychelles opposition. Mr. Pierre has not met with anyone in the opposition prior to deciding if he will field candidates. I am personally uncertain if he even read the Commonwealth Report on the recommendations that have been made to level the playing field for Eighteen (18) years.

Allegations of Backing By Ruling Party

Immediately, as the party was registered, numerous allegations surfaced on the internet that the ruling party was financing Mr. David Pierre’s party.

These allegations have not been denied by Mr. Pierre, until now. However, there are reports that he has been seen making numerous trips and visits to Danny Faure’s office. Mr. Faure is the Vice President of Seychelles and high ranking PL official. What would a future opposition party leader be doing roaming even close to Danny Faure’s office, all by himself? Could this be true?
Danny Faure - Confused as usual

Desperate Times Indeed

The call for BOYCOTT of National Assembly elections is a unifying platform of all elements of the Seychelles opposition community. In spite of all our shortcomings, and all issues internally that we grapple with, we have been able to come up with a common stance and common purpose, that unifies all Seychelles opposition.

That is, a BOYCOTT of these elections is critical at this time, because the promises of democracy and freedom made by F.A. Rene in November 1991, after Eighteen (18) years, have not been kept by PL and James Michel. It is arguable that we have backed tracked to one party state in the last Six (6)  months faster then in the last Sixteen (16) years.

A Boycott exposes the promise broken by the SPPF and PL to implement democracy with corresponding freedoms made in 1991.

A Boycott exposes what the Commonwealth Expert Team (CET) in their Commonwealth Reports note, that is, we have numerous one party state laws in place that prohibit a full transition to democracy.

Basically, though we live in 2011 in life terms, but in terms of progress in democracy and freedom, we are still back in November 1991.

The Democracy Tree Without Roots

This means the democratic tree if you will, that Mr. F. A. Rene told us he was planting in November of 1991, has not taken root after Eighteen (18) years.
Albert Rene

Occasionally when it is exposed that the tree is really a dead tree, the next course of action, is to prop a few plastic oranges on the tree, to make the world believe, we have tree that is alive and well rooted. With the plastic oranges on the tree the communists can say that the tree is fine, it even bears fruit occasionally. You can even water the tree with sea water, it will thrive in appearance.

People of Seychelles, we are entering an era of plastic fruits in the opposition. As the opposition is shammed, like elections, and everything else around us, the world will see it for themselves, and we will not have to work to expose the sham, the entire tree without roots, will become a plastic tree that looks so beautiful, and lively, but it has not grown an inch in real terms since November 1991 nor has it borne any real fruit except for plastic fruits placed on the tree deliberately.

Do Not Lose Hope In Humanity

These tactics are expected of communists. They use them all over the world. In some communist countries, they fake debates, others will fake projects to give the people hope, many fake economic results to fake their success, when in fact it is all grand failure.

Faking an opposition is part of the communists effort to fake our realities. It is used to give cover and mask to their illegitimate democracies the world over.

The common thread in all communist societies is that faking it is never enough and they are sooner rather then later, exposed to the entire world, not just the central committee!

As they fake all the way, we must be united, act as one, for a common good cause that is greater then all of our sums divided.

The boycott by opposition has already extracted pledges of electoral reforms from Michel and Faure.

It is only a few months ago that Michel voted down an electoral reform motion in the national assembly. Leave it to them they said. But dissolved the national assembly hours after Carpin betrayed SNP and the people of Au Cap, scuppering any attempts to push through electoral reforms in the national assembly.

After appointing the controversial election commission with Gappy at the head, Michel said it would be up to the commission to recommend reforms. Like Pontius Pilate, he washed his hands of electoral reforms. A commission was the most he would offer, after snide remarks in Sarkozy's message of congratulations on his victory.

Now, faced with electoral humiliation by a boycott, he has discovered and renewed his engagement for electoral reforms. I didn't know he had it in him and frankly neither did he.

You do wonder how far down the line we would already be if David Pierre had not acted like an opportunistic political demagogue and allowed this election to go ahead.

Now it is down to the voters to force the pace of electoral reforms and change the shape of politics in this country. SNP returning to the assembly with 11 seats will have meant politics as usual in this country. The boycott will change everything, even if only a sizeable number of the 25,000-strong and growing opposition take part. Michel will have no choice but to listen and get on board electoral reforms.

This election has turned into a debate on the role of an opposition in our country. It seems like the role of government has been made irrelevant. State House had to arrange a skit to remind us of the existence of district administrators (unemployed in this election, without their usual role to bribe voters with state resources). The non-election is forcing the country to examine the state of our democracy (some say it is only multi-party politics and nothing more). That is a great achievement for the boycott movement and I am bloody proud to be part of it.

Again, the struggle for a better country is being borne by the opposition. It was the opposition that opposed one-party state and forced its abolition. It is the opposition that is spear-heading the struggle for meaningful democracy. Parti Lepep supporters are reactionaries. They were content with the one-party state which they now say they deplore and that this country is not a one-party state. They are content with the current democratic deficit and are leaving the fight for fully fledged democracy to others, while they scramble among themselves for whatever favouritism the regime is dishing out.

Your statements are false in regards to our perceptions of Muslims.

I have never said those words you infer.

People who are evil come from all walks of life.

Similarly, good people come from all walks of life.

This type of insinuation is childish and shows how BANKRUPT you are of any ideas.

This explains why our country is BANKRUPT.

Unfortunately, it is now BROKEN as well, because you could not accept the critic that is was BANKRUPT by your tribe the Communists, in the first place.

Change your ways, before we sink deeper into permanent insolvency.

I demand to you, out of intellectual honesty, that you say SPPF PL have failed Seychelles on this BLOG in exchange for professing false statements attributed to me.

We live in a age where our people are multi tasked and multi capacity to adjust.

You seem to be focused on STAR BLOG when we have moved on to Seychelles reality.

It reminds me when Seychelles was BANKRUPT October 30, 2008, James Michel went on SBC to tell the people of Seychelles we are BANKRUPT and cannot pay our debts.

Only one year before, he said, he was happy to tell the people of Seychelles, SPPF had paid all our debts.

Is that consistent?

You represent the past and a bunch of pathetic Failures of the highest magnitude.

E ou la Grand Kouyon Kousoopap,

Jane Carpin exercised her Democratic Rights in walking out from the Seychelles Nappa Policy Party.

You keep babbling on and on about "Electoral Reforms"....can you list/clarify at least five matters that need immediate attention that Michel has "voted down on electoral reforms?."

In Seychelles, the Seychellois vote for the Leaders of their choice, can you say that for countries in the likes of England, Australia and America to name just a few?.

Which country among the above four mentioned are more Democratic?.

Why are you accusing David Pierre of being a "political demagogue" for exercising his Democratic Rights?. If that is the kind of democracy you want to espouse for Seychelles, then you are a very inconsiderate Insignificunt bastardo for you have no respect for the majority of Seychellois Voters and their democratic rights and choices.

And by the way Boof Head, the only humiliated Personalities would be all those in the Opposition has been Parties. I had no idea that Wavel would be so bloody Stupid to fall into the Intelligent Trap once too many times in his role as the main Opposition Leader.

Your comments place you in the company of being a racist. I can understand that from the undertones of your vile comments concerning Mr. Dhanjee a Seychellois of Indian decent that you are indeed racist. How many Indian decent Seychellois have made the mistake to vote for SPPF PL in the past?

I trust they will not make this mistake again in future.

Now you infer that if RAFFLES SEYCHELLES is being sold, I should be happy because it is a Muslim investment.

First, without regard for the project concept which is highly flawed, no one can be happy to see a major investor as Prince Alaweed Bin Talal pulling out of their country. This sends a negative sign and red lights to future investors.

If Prince Talal of Saudi Arabia cannot hack the Seychelles investment climate, who can?

Secondly, the fact that Prince Talal is a Muslim is not an issue to me or the Freedom Party. My children may one day become Muslim if they decide.

When you raise these senseless issues born out of your bigotry mind, you hurt Seychelles and all that makes us unique in the world.

I ask you to focus on the questions put to you in past blogs concerning corruption and theft of Government of Seychelles assets, before you move on further.

With a week to go before the sham ballot, the election campaign is as flat as a pancake. Parti Lepep has yet to attack MDP and MDP is pretending to be attacking PL. Even the campaign is a sham. After all the time spent training their candidates how to look good in front of the camera for the PPBs, Parti Lepep has been confounded by the boycott.

The real campaign is between PL/MDP v The Boycott. SNP supporters are the most sought after voters in the world at the moment. SNP sneezed and Parti Lepep caught a cold.

SNP is not on the ballot paper. But The Boycott is on the ballot paper. You vote for the The Boycott by voting for BOTH PL and MDP candidates. Give all of them a tick.

If you can't please yourself by staying at home, please them all with a tick each, if you do have to traipse to the polling station.

We can have a real election later, with candidates of a better calibre.

Anonymous said...

You can see the major worries in Parti Lepep. They really do not believe that David Pierre's MDP can ever represent the opposition in the country. Normally, they would be preparing to celebrate a major victory, untroubled by how they achieved the victory, as long as the opposition was credible. The boycott has knocked the stuffing out of them. They know that their government needs the legitimacy of credible elections, as they strut their stuff on the international stage. 2011 is not 1977, the year of their treachery.

If opposition supporters hold their nerve next Saturday, we will achieve much much more than we would have achieved if we had stood in these elections and won 11 seats.

We stand for electoral reforms so that the next presidential elections can be held on a level playing field. Nothing will change if we vote in the national assembly elections. We will be fighting the battles of the last 18 years all over again.

The boycott is a game-changer. Parti Lepep has recognised this already and is running scared. Elections where Parti Lepep start with a massive unfair advantage will be consigned to the dustbin of history. Their foreign financial backers better take note.

Anonymous said...

Why is the parti lepep candidate in Au Cap fuming & cursing?
Because James Michel has decided that Jane Carpin HAS to win the Au Cap seat.
James Michel is desperate to give the impression that SNP supporters condone Jane Carpin's betrayal.
He's in for a shock next Saturday that he'll need some more botox around the eyes.
We will boycott Jane Carpin. We will boycott David Pierre and all his stooges. We will boycott these sham elections.

Anonymous said...

As an inhabitant of Au Cap district, I know that many Lepep supporters are very angry. They are confused and do not understand which party they are supposed to be supporting. They want their candidate elected but many are being told "to look at the bigger picture" and to vote for Carpin. They are told that "it's too complicated to explain" but to "fer nou konfyans".
Many Lepep voters are planning to spoil their votes rather than vote for Carpin. They say that they want to be confident of voting for somebody who would be defending their interests in the assembly and not one who would be selling her soul and her principle to the highest bidder.
Wise words indeed. Even if they come from lapire-drinking reds....

Anonymous said...

The bigger picture is the bigger party made up of PL and MDP.

Anonymous said...

The zambians have done what Seychellois would not, cannot or are afraid to do: They've kicked out a party that has been in power for over 20 years and have elected the leader of opposition, Michael Sata as their new president. This was Sata's 4th attempt at the presidency....sound familiar?

Anonymous said...

Could it be that the zambians are more intelligent than us?
Could it be that the ruling party did not have the privilege of Sheikh Khalifa's petro dollars to buy voters?
Could it be that their democracy is more mature than ours and the election was fought on a level playing field?
Could it be that zambiana had had enough and no amount of money received as bribes would have changed anything?
It's in fact a mixture of all of the above. But above all, our Zambian brothers and sisters are mindful that it cannot be healthy to have the same party in power for years and years. They are convinced that it is healthy and acceptable in a democracy to change people once in a while to bring in fresh bllod, new ideas.
Because POWER CORRUPTS & ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY.
If in doubt, just look at us!

The greatest conspiracy of deception mounted by David Pierre, James Michel and Danny Faure. David should be ashamed of himself and his only objectives is to become the leader of opposition.

His colourful speeches do not reverberate in the ears of people who knows him personally.

I would like to tell David that promiscuity and not a civilsed way for a person who want to lead his people. Seeing women only by their sexual part is not a civilized way to look at a human being when you want to lead.

It is very apparent that this sham election will fail big time because it would be an opportunity for party lepep to prove that they have the people at heart since their would be no other than themselves to pass on the buck.

My heart goes to Mrs Hoareau for her conviction and for pass on encouraging messages for the people of Seychellles who hearts have been bleeding for 34 years. if Only if we had more people in the calibre of Mrs Hoareau 18 years ago. We would have been very far. Honest and truthful personal is a very rare commodity in the seychelles.

The much ridiculed SADEC observers have arrived. They will have an easier time this time. I do not think David Pierre will complain about lack of robust election observation.

SADEC says it is happy to see its recommendation being implemented, referring to the Election Commission. It has taken 18 years to get an Election Commission and even then we still have Hendrick Gappy (the old disgraced Electoral Commissioner) at the head. The fight for an IMPARTIAL Election Commission goes on.

SADEC says it wishes all political parties take part in the elections. It has already realised that these elections are a SHAM without the participation of the REAL opposition. SADEC is not encouraging such participation, if it continues to laud James Michel for its foot-dragging over electoral reforms, many of which are in past SADEC reports. After 18 years after what should have been the end of one-party state, we are still fighting for a level playing field through electoral reforms. We disagree with SADEC that we should be grateful for small mercies such as an Electoral Commission with Gappy at its head.

James Michel has not even bothered to say what electoral reforms he will implement after the elections. Parti Lepep will not implement democratic reforms that will dilute its power and lessen its grip on the country.

Anonymous said...

David Pierre has still not explained why real opposition supporters should vote for a party led by two people who have betrayed the opposition big time in the last 6 months. We know he left because he was not made vice-presidential nominee. No other dishonest explanation will convince us otherwise.

In the first part of his speech, he was pretending that he was the leader of the opposition and taking credit for the work done by Wavel Ramkalawan. It was certainly not David Pierre's RECORD.

The second part of the speech was devoted to attacking SNP.

In the third part, we saw feeble attacks on Parti Lepep while promising them "politik sivilize". It is just what Michel wanted to hear.

In the fourth part, he was talking about attacks on him and his candidates by opposition supporters. A few minutes earlier he had been attacking SNP.

The fifth part was missing. He was supposed to tell us why we should vote for his ragtag candidates. He did not. This is really about David Pierre getting 10% and becoming leader of the opposition. It is a big ego trip, at the expense of electoral reforms and democratic reforms in the country.

Is that it ? Is that the best David Pierre and Jane Carpin can put up, after their act of betrayal, bettered only by the 5 June betrayal ?

Do they really expect us to abandon the real opposition and the fight for electoral reforms and join them after David Pierre's 13-minute flim-flam tonight ?

They put up no credible case for undermining the fight for electoral reforms. On the one hand, their campaign was telling us we live in a democracy and we will go back to one-party state if David Pierre is not in the national assembly. But tonight David Pierre told us that the work is half done and now is not the time to abandon it. David Pierre has been looking around for excuses to cover up his naked political ambitions.

Not a single blow landed on Parti Lepep which in any case was too busy fighting SNP and the Boycott in this campaign to notice them ?

Not a single acknowledgement of MDP by Parti Lepep, as if they were too scared to attack MDP and want some of their supporters to vote for David Pierre.

Michel had plenty of reasons why we should not BOYCOTT, including a revelation that he has discovered his engagement for electoral reforms.

But Michel did not have a single reason why we should not NOT vote for MDP.

It was a SHAM campaign leading to SHAM elections.

The writing is on the wall. The real opposition will be outside the SHAM national assembly.

Michel will discover an appetite for electoral reforms after we have stood firm and boycotted these sham elections.

James Michel has to have David Pierre as Leader of Opposition. He is hoping to have Jane Carpin elected in Au Cap at the expense of his own candidate. Two members of the "opposition" in the assembly! What a victory for our democracy!

Political parties have been reduce to a group of scoundrels whose combined resume paints of nasty pictures of greed, embezzlement, treson of our country. What Pp is offering us is not politics but an animal farm where
only a handful of crooks survive and the poor and voiceless melt into oblivion.A farm where a conspirator(PIERRE)spells out his intention to run as fake loyal oppostion as he preaches rhetorics to room teem with pot-inhalers with the hope of getting his progaganda dead into their brains. The farm is packed with expired politcal minds who have outgrown their usefulness and can only contribute "roto-rata"and doomday politics.

Though Pierre is opening his loud-mouth attempting to make us beleive his different to PP his words does not convince anybody not even himself, for all his actions and track records show that he isnot relieble nor someone the people can put their trust in.

The two lying-liars Pp-PDM are raping our freedom and taking us back to one aprty state we must therefore mobilize and so no to Pp-PDM.

BOYCOTT!The boycott will heralds the advent of a new chapter,it has the stength to warn us that our country is not moving in a healthy direction and surely deserves to draw a closer a serious attentionfrom all of us.A chapter in which wefocus on organize our peopleand continue to express our total resentmenttoward Pp communist regime while at the same time seriously deliberating on the future of our country.

So, TODAY IN SEYCHELLES interviews "President" James Michel during the cooling off period.

What the hell is TODAY up to ? A very big black mark on its record. If Today cannot display a spirit of independence, how the hell can we expect others (e.g. the Electoral Commission) who depend on James Michel for their appointment ? Show some backbone and get off your knees, TODAY.

I do not think David Pierre will complain ! It is all very "civilised" with him and has promised to COLLABORATE with the man he called a "coward" 4 years ago in the national assembly.

As we were told last night in the Parti Lepep PPB, there are a few unemployed Parti Lepep MNAs who were expecting to carry on until 2012. But they all voted for the early dissolution of the assembly, because they did not have the guts to go against party line. The FEAR that SPUP/SPPF/PARTILEPEP has introduced into the country affects them too. In fact they did not know even know what they were doing when they raised their hands to dissolve the assembly. Didn't their lawyer then run to the judges in the Constitutional Court to explain to him what he and his colleagues had done ?

But these ex-Parti Lepep MNAs need not apply for any job where guts are required. We know they are gutless. The new breed will be no different. That is, those who manage to survive Parti Lepep's underhand attempts to get David Pierre's candidates elected instead of them.

Sorry James Michel you are not elected to say to any political party in Seychelles how to run their party. It seems that you are on dope. Getting these Judas on your side would not change the political landscape in the Seychelles. In reality you are hardening the stance of the opposition and we are more determined as ever to be free from your evil political system.

If you have forgotten your history SPPF is good of changing the political landscape in the Seychelles from multi-party democracy from 1976 to one party state in 5th June 1977, 1993 from one party state to multi-party state in name only with all the one party state apparatus still intact until this day in 2011. What type of new political system that a simple clerk with a university degree in AK47 that he got in Tanzania? The only changes that we expect are more shit from your Arabs boss, more foreign prostitutes on our shores, more misery, more taxes, more restriction to beach access by local Seychelloises citizen, more corruption, discrimination against Seychelloise who do like the way the our country is being lead and an assembly of fools that will not be able to debate since a great majority of them in their PPB do not even know the role of an MNA because they are just loyal servants who have been selected to rubber stamp your communist system. Betrayal -- a Parti Lepep cancer

When will the Parti Lepep's love-affair with treachery and traitors end ? It would seem that the bigger the treachery, the better for that party of shady origins. Eversince its beginning as SPUP, it has consistently and persistently betrayed the hopes and aspirations of the people of Seychelles. Every decade since the 1960s of our short history has been marred by their treachery.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Albert Rene's SPUP exploded bombs left, right and centre. The transmitters of the then Radio Seychelles (relied upon at the time as the main source of information and entertainment by thousands of our people) were bombed. The country's commercial centre, Victoria, too was bombed, in order to intimidate businessmen and stop economic development. Bombs were placed at a tourist hotel, with the potential to burn tourists live while they slept and damage the emerging tourism industry. Whenever Rene lost an election (he lost all democratically held elections), arson would sweep the country. Someone was very busy in those days. Traces of explosives and benzine must still be on their hands.

Democracy short-circuited, short-changed

Then came the high treason of 5 June 1977 when our young democracy and our hopes to join the family of nations with civilised governments were snuffed out. On this occasion, there was no denying that Albert Rene was behind the treason, although he spent years denying his role before finally admitting it a decade or so later.

In the 1980s, at the height of the brutal one-party state, our hopes of living in a country that respected human lives were once again betrayed, as Albert Rene let the blood flow freely. That must have been the most murderous period in our history. Shallow graves remain undiscovered.

In 1990s and 2000s, we were supposed to enjoy life in a democratic country once again. But such hopes clashed with SPPF and Parti Lepep's desire to stay in power at whatever cost. We were short-changed on democracy, as Parti Lepep hung on to the one-party state institutions to get electoral advantage and said it would take a coup d'etat to remove them.

If we were expecting a respite from the decades long betrayal of SPUP/SPPF/Parti Lepep in the current decade, we have been sorely disappointed. The decade has hardly started and Parti Lepep's treachery has taken new dimensions. They took their treachery to the national assembly.

Parti Lepep -- comfort zone for traitors

They have now been joined by Jane Carpin and David Pierre, known for their betrayal of their former colleagues and supporters. The cancer has spread. These two politicians of dubious reputation have found their comfort zone within Parti Lepep's now extended family of political parties, the home of national traitors. In the campaign for this weekend's elections, we saw that Parti Lepep was egging them on to win one or two seats to fabricate a sham opposition in the national assembly, the scene of Carpin's treachery. If we expected Parti Lepep to allay any fears that the lack of a non-Parti Lepep MNA in the assembly will lead to a one-party state, as David Pierre's MDP has been telling us, it did not happen. Parti Lepep was reluctant to criticise its partner in crime and too embarrassed to put them right when it erred in this campaign.

There is one thing that we need to do in this election. It is to end Parti Lepep's long-running betrayal of our hopes and aspirations. We will do this by giving Gappy's polling stations the widest berth possible this week, or by spoiling our vote. The treachery has to stop before it spreads any further. And it stops on 1 October 2011. The cure starts. Not a moment too soon !

In his PPB for Mont Buxton, David Pierre sounded like James Michel when he said "Zabitan Mon Bikston". Of course, he now talks James Michel's language.

Anonymous said...

As the voting starts on Thursday and Friday, if the turnout is high among the few voters in the outlying islands, Gappy will be making an announcement with glee. If the turnout is low, he will keep quiet.

As there is a boycott on and THE OPPOSITION have asked people to stay at home, Gappy should not be giving a biased running commentary on the turnout. Such a commentary will amount to a blatant interference in the elections by the Chair of the Electoral Commission.

Gappy will give his running commentary, if the turnout is in favour of Parti Lepep and Parti Lepep is desperate to show that people are ignoring the OPPOSITION.

About the last PPBs:
Michel saw it fit to make his next to the Presidential flag - ignoring the fact that he was addressing us as a political party leader and not president.
Danny Faure was trying to look more and more presidential behind his posh desk, preparing to take over as soon as James Michel either collapses on viagra or trips.
Marie- Antoinette Rose was on about "the new, younger generation of politicians". Not clear where his 70-year old party leader fits in this category.
David Pierre was determined to list all past achievements of "the opposition". He even told us that the opposition won over 40% "at the last elections. These are the same elections he campaigned for James Michel in and took an active part in getting "the opposition" to vote for James Michel.
Yes, David Pierre has learned fast. Difficult to mae the difference between him and his masters in parti lepep.
But above everything else, Madame Jacqueline has my support. She comes across as a very sincere person who is not in this business to make money, for power or prestige. She has my vote. I hope we had more people like her.

Anonymous said...

Boycott yes.
By this time next week, the elections would have come & gone and Lepep, along with their comrade-i-arms David Pierre will be sitting in the assembly for the next 5 years.
The big question is WHAT NEXT FOR THE OPPOSITION?
SNP needs to sort itself out, get a new leader, a new executive committee and position itself to effectively oppose from outside the assembly. Will this happen or will the party continue on its current path and continue to lose suppose? Only Ramka knows and he's not telling us.

Anonymous said...

Well that Pp-PDm seat in the Assembly is a foregone conclusion otherwise there would have been no need for Pp to illegally dissolved the Assembly, create a new fake party and Michel undomocratically appointed five electoral commissioners himsself.

The boycott will regardless what deligitimize, expose PP,and note that the boycott is already a success.

Jeanne D'Arc

Anonymous said...

Whatever Ramka was doing to capitalise on the current international climate for democracy to achieve a more level playing field for elections was scuppered by first Carpin and then Pierre.

Carpin removed pressure on Michel to introduce electoral reforms, by voting with Parti Lepep.

Pierre too removed pressure on Michel by participating in these elections. Whereas SNP was working to get 50% or more, Pierre will be happy with 10% simply to replace and spite Ramkalawan.

It is hard enough fighting Parti Lepep and all its might and money. Ramka and the opposition do not need traitors like Carpin and Pierre.

It is now down to rank and file opposition supporters to decide. It is not that difficult to spoil a vote, if they have to go and vote. If Pierre gets 25% or more of opposition supporters, that will make it very difficult for SNP and others.

If it is clear that opposition supporters have boycotted this election, then this will give courage to SNP and others to continue the fight outside the national assembly, as was the plan in the first place.

The SNP leadership is solid behind this boycott, despite some people saying there were splits. Apart from Carpin and Pierre who had left by the time the boycott was announced. Others can see the big picture, even if they might have differences of opinion.

Anonymous said...

I donot think Pp which has the machine of manipulationunder its control would never allow PDM its stooge to gain more than 10-15% for above this figure Pierre and clan may become to powerful and to risky for Pp ,there might be situation where Pierre might want to oppose,or go against PP and pp cannot tolerate that from a Party it creates itself to be loyal oppostion party.Pierre will probably get what Pp will think is okay for them ,enough to legitimate their manipulation of laws and so on, and enough that Pierre cannot have any possibility of reversing PP motions etc.

Turnout on the outlying islands will not be surprising. almost everyone will go out to vote. Their jobs depend on being seen voting. As Lepep and PDM is one and the same, which candidate they vote for won't be an issue this time.

Let's keep up the pressure.
Let's continue to spread our peaceful message that this election is a sham and must be boycotted.

David Pierre's dishonesty is one more reason why we should boycott these sham elections. His last PPB shows how he is quick to copy the dishonest actions of Parti Lepep.

In his PPB, he pretended to represent the opposition while his action shows that he has betrayed the real opposition. He talks about the success of the opposition but forgets to tell us that we are boycotting to have more successes not to stay where we are.

On television, he came across as a poor leader, struggling to read his speech. His PPB was best watched with eyes closed, given his demeanour. He looked very angry and vicious. Most of the PPB was a broadside against the SNP leadership. It was as if he knew he would lose and wanted to use this opportunity for an onslaught on SNP. Parti Lepep was hardly attacked. Again like Parti Lepep, he acted like his opponents in this election were SNP and its supporters.

Like in many previous MDP's PPBs, there was no voter to voice support for David Pierre. No one spoke up for him. And not a single mention or photo of his other 24 accomplices. Mont Buxton, where he is standing, was not mentioned.

David Pierre failed to run on his own record. He failed to explain why he supported James Michel in the last presidential elections and why those brave enough to vote against Michel should now forgive him.

David Pierre failed to explain how he was going to get electoral reforms. In fact he failed to explain whether he in fact wanted electoral reforms.

All that could be detected from his babble was a new relationship with Parti Lepep. But was he not the one who called James Michel a coward in the national assembly at the end of the state of the nation address when James Michel announced a surprise dissolution of the assembly in 2007 ?

In April, we all knew that Pierre resigned from the national assembly and SNP, supposedly to go into private business, just as the presidential election campaign started, because he was not chosen as the vice presidential nominee and leader in waiting. That was a great decision by Ramkalawan. If we doubted Ramkalawan's judgement then, we do not now. Pierre left in a pique, while protesting about how SNP works.

This campaign has exposed his naked political ambitions. But this campaign has also exposed his leadership limitations. Seeing him behaving like a demagogue on SBC in his PPB and looking rather shifty all the time, I would not want to be represented by him in any way whatsoever.

This campaign has shown us that Pierre will do anything and say anything to become Leader of the Opposition even with just one MNA in the national assembly. He says he wants to take the opposition forward. One would expect him to resign if he were to poll fewer than 11 MNAs, 45% and 25,000 votes. But that would run against all that he has told us about him since April.

Dishonest, shifty, treacherous, scheming and no plan. That's the obvious conclusion after watching David Pierre's last PPB.

How can you on the one hand call for a peaceful boycott when on the other hand you are threatening the government with bullets?

I refer to your post of September 27, 2011 6:20 PM which was clearly written by Jeanne D’Arc or Jean Paul

“PP have been complaining some Seselwa are culpits stones at the house of member of the election commission and they say any peoples who get caught will spent 3years behind bar and pay 20,000 rupees fine, this is only stones soon or late they will start to see bullets flying by their house.”

Isn’t it true that MSR/SFP is using SNP, DP and Boulle supporters to incite violence because SFP/MSR does not have any supporters of their own!
Gill why are you using these innocent people for your own evil ends?
There is proof everywhere that you and Jean Paul Isaac are inciting violence.
You guys must be real fools to think that you cannot be traced because you are writing under “anonymous”!
Should there be any violence this weekend the first action by the police will be to seize your computers and all hard drives and you know that it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to trace your blog postings!

Pissedoff what is true is that violence is used by dictators to silence the people.Semocrates believe in freedom not voilence.Pp is under pressure it is not use if even with a fake Party (PDM) and manipulation it is going to win.

Seychellois do not have to use violence they could have cosen to exercise their right which that of protest, which both a human rights and constitutional right.

It also shows how effective the boycott is going, the more voilence incited by Pp thugs the more expose Pp will be .

But PP must keep this in mind this generation is not going to be intimidated by criminals we reserve the rights of self-defence be against Pp,Michel.Kim ilSung what happened in 1977 will not happen again.

And one last thing,Michel should take a leaf from Tunisian,Egyptian people's revolution namely it was when Those regimes started to shoot, brutalized the people that the mobilization exploded ,Pp must not think the people's revolution will stop at our board and if Pp is asking for it it willö get it.We will never ever let a handful of old crooks take our people lives anymore.

After this national Assembly election Sechelles Seychelles politic would have taken a big step backward.

We have four young politicians at Home in the form of Mr Philippe Boulle, Hon Wavel, Mr Ralph Volcer and Mr Christopher Gill who have called for a boycott of this Election.

Given Mr Chirstopher important efforts/battle to control the mess. The need to go back in time 1989 one year after that SIROP etc exile/refugee program had been officially presented to the USA, Australia, South African, India, USSR, German Embassy in London. They had all listened, taken note of what we had said - discussed and their words. Yet what took place, those in the greater world diplomacy who took those information, across their government - Diplomatic and Institutions mechanism decided to do. They provided important inside information to President Mancham and Dr Maxime Ferrari.

After the Assasination of Mr Gerrard Hourau the SNM/MPR Leader- had told the exile/refuge activist and Mr Gabriel Horeau and ex Minister David Joubert, our next very serious exile/refugee Conference must be out of London preferably in Germany. Ex Minister David Joubert took the leed and spear headed the Conference in Munich ?????. We were excluded from that Conference.

There were pictures taken by Mr Edmond Camille and others - where are those pictures.President FA Rene - those working for hi then, the CIA, KGB, China, India, South Africa and MI5, the French Intillegence had pictures/inside knowledge. Every issues debated and discussed at that Conference was reported - where and who has copy of that report.

It has important direct connection/link to the ongoing issues. Mr Ralph Volcer attended as part of SNM/MPR activist - he was also UKSCA Treasurer.

Mr Lewis Betsey, ex Minister Uzice representing his party and Mr Christopher Savy representing Alliance attended.

Old Hands like Mr Guy Morel and Mr Guy Lionnet, Mr G Ricc are not with us our ancestral "arcahic, fraternal, Illuminatti, Masonic working". We told a number of individuals who had attended that Conference they would fail in their bid to change Sechelles Seychelles, we knew some of the issues debated. What they would do when they all got to Seychelles. They did and these were experienced and battle hard politicians/individual by our standard. What took place and the mess we landed in to this day - they had refused to listen.

Our ability to conclude they would fail - was possible because of the many important and historic input, contributions, important experiences we had made and been making in EU, the Indian Ocean, USSR, China, Latin America, USA, Canada, Australia affairs until 1989.

Mr Christopher Gill can you plead/convince one/some of those who were there to give/lend you a few photos and a copy of the report and meeting - for the love of Sechelles Seychelles publish them. Then let us Pray then go to the national Assembly election.

It is an illegitimate election. 45% have been denied their choice. How can I agree with that ? Bird brain !

For those who care to know more - the Vatican was importantly - if not highly informed of that Exile/refugee Conference in Munich????. The reasons. We had been in contacts with the Vatican Office in London. Visited them as and when a complication or complexities arose.

Israel Intelligence were monitoring events and development - do you good people know their capacity in 1989, the West German government - their Police were monitoring this event.

Most important the Italian, then government, their Intelligence and Fraternal/archaic establishment were watching/monitoring this development and event.

The Australian their government then and Intelligence.

"There are those who judge Facebook and Blog excellent to drive election issues - waht took place in Mauritius at the last election, they were out witted b the Party of Dr Ramgoolam - they ought not to have stressed the use of Facebook to drive issues and opinion."

In Sechelles Seychelles this year for the Presidential - wrote about the dangers.

There is the requirement to understand the complexisites of Facebook/ Blogs impacts, synergies, affecting dynamics. When you think you are driving an issues - you/one is being driven - the outcome.

Who denied me the right to choose my own representatives in the national assembly ? The one-party state institutions that some people do not want to let go, while protesting that this is not a one-party state.

Why go round confiscating boycott leaflets ? Police states do that, not democratic states.

About Parti Lepep's PPBs. Did anyone notice that we do not get close-ups of James Michel. The camera does not zoom in on him and stays far away. That's because Michel looks decrepit close-up.

His performance would improve if they could lop off his hands, or tie them behind his band or get him to hold an AK47 while he speaks. Those childish hand movements are annoying !

Don't tell me that when Michel hands the baton to Danny Faure we will get the same performance from him every night. What a carry-on that was ! He turned Parti Lepep's PPB into a poor comedy show. And suddenly there is a lot of work to be done in the national assembly. What a lie ! When SNP was not attending, the assembly meeting lasted 60 to 90 minutes.

The elections are illegitimate ! Boycott !

Anonymous said...

As I said earlier, it was necessary to watch David Pierre in his PPB with eyes closed. If you did that, you would have heard one little gem, worth its weight in gold, in Pierre's incoherent grand design to take on Parti Lepep in the national assembly.

He said that even if SBC does not broadcast all that the opposition says in the national assembly, Parti Lepep's MNAs hears everything. That makes a big difference.

Eureka !

That was a Eureka moment. Pierre has found the answer to all our woes -- jaw-jaw with Parti Lepep MNAs in the national assembly , while SBC refuses to broadcast much of it. Why didn't we think of that before the boycott ?

With bunkum like that, Herminie is unlikely to press his button to cut Pierre in mid-speech, if he gets into the national assembly.

Pierre is promising a dramatic self-conversion. Earlier this year, while Marie-Antoinette Rose was regaling the assembly with the Kok Maron story, Pierre was shouting insults back and expecting support from SNP MNAs. It is just as well that Parti Lepep has forgiven him his misdemeanours, now that that he is in the same camp as them. Just as well too that Ginette Gamatis has been booted off the assembly (Michel has no time for geriatrics) and it remains to be seen whether Marie-Antoinette Rose will get in through the back door on the proportional list.

Michel never thought the opposition would cut loose of Mancham, when his accolades for Michel got out of hand.

For Michel to outsmart Mancham now, he would have to do leaps and bounds in democratic reform, freedom, and involvement of all parties in a National Reconstruction effort. He will have to disclose and bag David Pierre as a fake opposition and a failed idea.

If not, Danny Faure will soon step on to Michel's carpets in spite oe f his involvement in the fake opposition party. This has been an agenda to discredit Michel all along. He has fallen for it.

The utter corruption, last night on SBC the issues of "one heart, one world, one house and one life" the statistic of heart failiur and stroke in Sechelles Seychelles, those so call super specialist and experts - our grand parents knew otherwise - the other side of the coin. Meaning there exist other scientific phenomena which the medical world and scientist refuse to make public.

We have just learnt of Mr Woodney Pillay death. (To his wife, daughter, son our Community and Personal condolance and sympathy)

Because we have this situation in Sechelles Seychelles - Mr Woodney Pillay supported the Opposition and whilst Mr Philippe Boulle was in exile and Mrs Kathleen Pillay his important responsibilities and help. He was very well informed.

Upon my/our return in 2000 the first time made it a point to meet him and discussed my issues, properties, the money President FA Rene owes our person some $150 millions and Associate GMR. That SIROP program, the exile return, the 3rd Republic and overall situation in Seychelles - his advice and offer to help us/me fight a Court case. He was vbersed in judciary and legal matters.

Two nights ago there was an important break in at the Court, large sum of money, drug, exibhits and documents taken. Why.

In the region of our world, Mauritius, Reunion, Madagascar, Comor, Maladive and Seychelles - we have a very dark/ highly negative/destructive side which is very Seychellois.

With the issues of registering that SIROP exile/refugee program by LUNGOS, he would have been a person who would have lend us support, advice and help - he has passed away.

Who were those involved - in term of our ancestral archaic, fraternal, illuminati, masonic the science and discipline to find out , who, why, and when.

It is very good we had an SADEC observer, how politic is done in Africa. Be they Parliament and Presidential election.

There is a great deal of gift, graft, kickback, underhanded payment and bribe. Beside instilling of fear, violance and intimidation.

One of the great phenomena of African politic is the use of Para science, black magic, witch craft and vodoo - it many appliaction.

Sechelles Seychelles pride itself of second best governance in Africa and its bench mark - capacity to inderstand nature and work with nature force.

We want to ask all members and official of SPPF/PL to take due time with all the experts we/they have in Sechelles Seychelles, put together a detail list, data of the climate, rain and sun, cloud until noon - miday. Including the voting pattern and voting process and voting intention and voting wish.

We joined you via the Internet at Noon and stayed until 2am. To follow, monitor and take note. We listened attentively to the election moderators, their report. The important marked change in climate pattern, rain and sun after noom. What had been causing the rain in the morning and the clouds. In fact those who got/became very upset when they knew we had joined because the rain stop and voters decided to go voting.

Will we see any of this in SADC, and the many Election group monitors - they would be labelled as lunatic and mad men.

We equally ask all those from the Opposition to take very good note what we have stated here - the making of earth quake, Tsunami, volcano, typhons have other mechanism, dyamics which the so call scientist and the world pretend do not exist.

We have addressed another apect of the election, boycott and Mr David Pierre Party -, there are those in Seychelles, across the world and Europe fully aware of what we have said - yet the dishonesty they tell the public as afficial version/reality.

Dear Friends, brothers and sisters,

All the important players in Sechelles Seychelles have had 21 years to think over the view/position and stand of the EU high parties, the USA and UN - why they opposed we become enbroiled in a Presidential or Prime Minister fight at Home - We have other highly complex responsibilities and they will conflict. For this reason we have persued the direction we have. That does not stop and hinder us from playing a leading role in that SIROP etc exile/refugee program 23 years on.

We are stating this in public and we trust President Obama will be informed - those who had grommed us for this eventual post and had we decided to break the rule - there would not have been a President JA Michel or Vice President Danny Faure - President FA Rene and President Mancham equally was very well aware of those issues - hence his decision and direction.

This said - given Sir James Mancham view as first President etc Democracy was highly unstable and young in Seychelles after 1991- the need to sacrifice a great deal of our belief, conviction about democracy.

We say it again - had the presidential election resulted otherwise - there would have been a major National review of the Seychelles exile/refugee and migrants national position and politic.

We say it again in public - Seychellois have been brought/taught to wash dirty laundry in private - not public.

President JA Michel, a number of high officials and executive of SPPF/PL, this include President FA Rene need to pay back a percentage of that good will we were committed, gave by not supporting radical opposition and taking position that would be beneficial to the economy, social progress of the nation and people.

By this we mean - nobody can, oppose an international lobby for the 10,000 - 15,000 exiles/refugees, the issues of their rights and situation the past 35 years.

The need for the Seychelles government, the national assembly to show responsibility and engage the international institutions in our/the exile/refugee national position and demands.

We also trust and wish, now that very many experience leading exile/refugee, have amassed enormous experience, waht hey have gone through since thir return - they will join all those who wish to work that SIROP get registered and recognise in Seychelles, the region and interntional, properly - the need to say it is a very big can of worms too.

The National economy, regional economy is not going to wait for us. The need/requirement to set a time table to progress with the registration of SIROP in Seychelles by LUNGOS - those who wish/want conference held on the issues. There are important interlinking issues with regional, EU and international economy and Market - the need to set a path as soon as possible.

This is the moment to test the democratic resolve of the Seychellois people and its President and their sincere intentions.

Dear Mr Christopher Gill,

It was stated and is stated on the Blogs to wait after the National Assembly election is over - it is over. All those who want to lend, take and play active and impacting role in our national exile/refugee issues.

What ever may be said in Sechelles Seychelles and the rest of the world, the experience, capacity for the public to express themselves on Blog have become very important - which never existed under President FA Rene last Office Term.

You have shown great courage, detremination and abilities in the face of important challenges to maintain a given agenda/debate going. In the next phase and battle to find justice for the Seychelles Exile/refugee after 35 years - those expereinces, capacity and abilities are/would be very crucial and paramount.
