Mr. Viral Dhanjee, a prominent Seychelles society personality has been categorically blocked from participating in the upcoming Presidential Elections by Mr. Hendricks Gappy, the Electoral Commissioner in the Republic of Seychelles

This block of certifying Mr. Dhanjee as an independent presidential candidate comes after the Commissioner of Elections blocked the Mouvman Seselwa Rasin (MSR) from being registered as a political party.
The leader of MSR, Christopher Gill, has called for a general boycott of the Elections believed to be rigged and a sham.

The blocking of Mr. Dhanjee as a candidate is another nail in the coffin of these rigged sham elections in Seychelles
The rational of blocking Mr. Dhanjee is that of the 670 signatures he submitted, with ID card numbers, only 474 were fully complete after they were closely scrutinized by Election officials. This means Mr. Dhanjee was short of 26 signatures. However, Nomination Day had not closed yet, and Mr. Dhanjee could have easily been given the opportunity to get 26 signatures, before the close of the day. He was not given this opportunity. It is highly unreasonable to not permit him to cure any defaults, if any.
Mr. Dhanjee believes that his candidacy would garner at least 12% of the vote from intellectuals and grassroots disgruntled with the ruling Pary Lepep led by incumbent James Michel, and the placated SNP opposition led by Wavel Ramkalawan.
With his 12% vote support, Mr. Dhanjee says that this would push a second round and the norms of democracy in Seychelles
Mr. Dhanjee will be writing the Commonwealth to brief them on this undemocratic blockade of his candidacy and he will take appropriate court action.
It is now becoming clear that some citizens can participate in the political affairs of the country, and others cannot.

Mr. Dhanjee was a registered member of the MSR and decided to attempt to participate in the election process after the MSR had been blocked by the Supreme Court from being registered.
Mr. Dhanjee has lost a battle, but he has not lost the war. By blocking him, it is in fact the Party Lepep who is losing the war. On the sidelines, the opposition candidates of SNP, NDP and Mr. Boulle have thus far remained silent on blocking of candidates in the process.

In the end, another court case for Hendricks Gappy, the not so independent Electoral Commissioner to deal with after the sham election is over! The elections in Seychelles is clearly rigged in favour of the incumbent Party Lepep and its leader James Michel who participated in the June 5th 1977 Coup D'Etat to oust the then legally elected Sir James Mancham from power.

Where would anyone of us go to 'plennyen'? What has either the SPPF or SNP done to encourage free speech in Seychelles. Both Michel and Ramkalawan controls comments on their facebook pages, neither political parties have ever put in place in website/blog allowing for free speech and exchange of information.
Why is it now i am reading from principally SNP supporters to other opposition forces to 'kile' or to go begging to Ramkalawan?
Lest we forget there was an alliance between the SNP and the DPs in 2006-2007. We all know what happened to this alliance (but we do not know why). Why would anyone trust either Ramkalawan or JAM to respect word or agreement in respect of an alliance/agreement?
Ralph Volcere has as much right as Troukler to stand for the election, this is democracy.
In any case it appears Ramkalawan beleives he is going to win this election witout the help of anyone, otherwise he would have taken steps towards other opposition forces to make some form of unification.
In the USA after O Bama convincingly thrashed Mrs Clinton, he went out and extended an olive branch to her and got her on board his ticket and beat the Republicans. Ramkalawan is no O Bama i agree, but again i repeat no one has any obligations to bow down to Ramkalawan/SNP just as they did not have any obligation to bow down to Mancham/DPs. Incidentally Ramkalawan/SNP is heading the same way the DPs did some time back.

I am very concerned that the make it or break it events will happen during the cooling off period. Gappy knows that cooling off period has never been respected by any party especially SPPF during they have control over all the institutions abused the period for aggressive campaigning. I personally think that real manipulation by Gappy happens exactly during that periods where they have aleast have an idea of how people will vote. But since the oppositions are not organising any rallies i think that has created a lot of problems of the manipulating machine at arrti chamber. But keep our fingers cross voters fraud from Gappy is still a reality and his machine is already oiled to please his master through the ballot box
Another press release from St Ange to tell us he will give a speech in Lusaka on "Seychelles Brand". It is damaged brand, contaminated by his appearance in PL's PPB, now that he has sold his soul for a ministerial position in PL, and can no longer claim that the whole country own the tourism industry which is being used by PL in these elections as a political football. These press releases will get more critical analysis, as we now know there is political bias to make PL look good.

If they think that news that royals are spending $4k per night for their holiday, is going to attract more tourists to Seychelles, they are dreaming. The honeymoon will give Seychelles name recognition but Seychelles does not need name recognition as a holiday destination. It needs to convince holidaymakers that the price of a holiday is worth it. Seychelles must feature on every honeymooner's destination shortlist, but the high prices are unaffordable and they go elsewhere, unless they have a very rich grandmother.
If we wanted to rock the boat, we could contact British Sky News to point out what while British royals spend their honeymoon on secluded beaches, the locals are increasingly being denied access to their beaches. That is a story they will find hard to resist.

He is basically putting forward the same notion that PL has been putting forward in this campaign -- the notion that there have been 2 parallel governments in the last 34 years, a PL government and an SNP government and it is only the PL government that has built houses, diagnostic centres, a university and fought Somali pirates. I expect that from those who appear in PL's PPB but not from one who wants us to think that he knows a thing or two. It is the duty of the government to implement state structures that promote free speech, starting with SBC. I can actually see PL supporters writing on Wavel 2011 facebook page which is open but Michel's page is closed. State institutions should be available to everyone, except foreign enemies perhaps. SNP party structures must have safeguards in place against infiltrations by PL supporters.
Obama did not have a coalition with Clinton during the primaries. It was after he had defeated Clinton and won the Democratic Party nomination and Clinton had withdrawn from the race, that Clinton supported the Obama candidacy. There were no deals before it was known who would represent the Democratic party at the US elections.

The SNP campaign has re-invigorated the opposition and that spells bad news for Boulle and Volcere. At the last elections that they took part in, DP polled 1600 votes across the whole country. Ramkalawan polled 1300 votes in St Louis only. I hate to remind Ralph this but he had a 69. He needs to assess the risks at each stage of the election campaign.
Ramkalawan's PPB performance is doing a lot to energise the SNP vote -- each PPB is 26 most captivating and fascinating minutes. The PPBs are full of passionate human interest stories that we normally never get to hear about. They are the stories that really make you angry about what is going on in our country and give the lie to Michel's claims that it is victory for Seychelles. To be fair, he says Seychelles not Seychellois. Perhaps he sees a big difference between the two.
Ramkalawan is projecting the palpable passion and abiding anger at the social injustices that led him to rise up against SPPF those many years ago. His new physique should be the least of PL's worries -- not quite The Terminator physique but he carries our hopes to terminate PL once and for all.
Quit disturbing to hear that St.Ange is looking forward to make a speech on "Seychelles brand" in a country where a dissent person earns u$ 2 monthly.That is silly....i mean....wait a minute..is St Ange going tp pormote our tourism industry there or promote our country as a potential destination for asylum seekers? i would have prefererd that he goes to Australia a big country with a potential market and where our country is not so popular yet as a potential tourist destination compares to Bali,Fiji and othwer islands.He could have also use this time to hold a meeting with Air Seychelles CEO to see of the possibility of operating a weekly flight to Astralia rather than Falkland island,isn^t it?Any way we will keep tabs on his actions.

I do believe that SNP in spite of making progress on its TV/PPB image, photo shots on Facebook, etc. it is still doubtful how much this will increase its support or rather how much it will increase its diminished support over the years. I think they put together as big a crowd as they could in the Conference Centre which by the way we expected to be full and it was. Look at its meeting on Praslin. Do you remember the days when they use to command large crowds in open air? This was not the case in the centre where the meeting was held. Just like Lepep seems to have been unable to prove support on La Digue and Praslin as there were lots of people from Mahe, likewise SNP's increased support does not seem to be that obvious. So where are the voters, voter apathy? can't wait to get to see the outcome of this election.....

It was successful the first round because there was a united voice against. Minister Adam is blaming LUNGOS for raising the Human Rights report (lack of a report) with the United Nations NGO. He says local NGOs can't be trusted and it will be difficult for the government to work with them. Sounds like PL told Gappy what to do and say when he denied LUNGOS election observer status.
What a silly boy Adam is. No wonder PL has to look at opposition turncoats to fill up the cabinet of ministers.
