The Seychelles Column - By Christopher Gill

Viral Dhanjee Has The Communist Beast By The Tail

After the MSR was blocked from being registered as a political party in the last election and political debate in Seychelles was curtailed by a communist system in place that feared the principle of “Sesel Pou Seselwa”, one of its members Viral Vadilal Dhanjee set out to file papers as an Independent Presidential Candidate.

Viral Dhanjee outside the Court House

First MSR and Christopher Gill denied their rights

Then it was the turn of Seychelles patriot Viral Dhanjee (left) to be denied his rights

Mr. Dhanjee’s candidacy was refused, and he was denied participation in the elections, a direct violation of his right to participate in public and political affairs of his country. This not only violates the Constitution of the Republic of Seychelles, it is a violation of the UN Charter of Fundamental Human Rights, which the communists have ratified. Typical of communists, they say one thing, do another. When they do this little exercise, they pass themselves off as being smart and capable. They are not of course, and every patriotic Seychellois, must tell them to their face, the truth.

Hire A Fighter For Freedom

To take on the communists establishment point man Mr. Hendrick Gappy the Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Dhanjee and his advisors knocked on the doors of tough, no nonsense lawyer who is very intelligent, and brews with a fighting spirit when human rights are at stake: Madam Alexia Amesbury. Madam Amesbury is earning a well deserved reputation for being a real Fighter for Freedom. Her tenacity to see victory is second to none when it comes to Human Rights.

Msye Gappy i anons rezilta eleksyon
Hendrick Gappy - Electoral Commissioner appointed by President Michel - How appropriate!

Constitutional Court Rules In Dhanjee’s Favor

Well prior to the elections, the Constitutional Court ruled in favor of Mr. Dhanjee being entitled to stand as a Presidential Candidate. However, in typical communist arrogance, the Electoral Commissioner and his team ignored the decision, and denied Mr. Dhanjee the right to file his candidacy. Hence, as the elections were in place, Mr. Dhanjee’s name was not on the ballot paper, for fear, that he would pull the balance of votes needed to push a second round.

Court of Appeal

Madam Amesbury filed a motion to the Court of Appeals to stop the elections, until such time that Mr. Dhanjee’s candidacy was present on the ballot paper. In an erroneous ruling, Justice Macgregor applied the Balance of Convenience Test for Injunctions, to a Fundamental Human Rights issue. When Human Rights are at issue, it is never convenient to the state.

Mrs. Amesbury fighting for justice

Attorney General Ronny Govinden (left) decided to step in illegally to save Gappy

Justice Macgregor is a former SPUP founder, and Central Committee member of the SPPF. He has been an MNA and Speaker of the National Assembly for many years, and he has been nominated -appointed by the SPPF PL as a Justice to the Court of Appeals. With this in mind, Madam Amesbury filed a motion to have Justice Macgregor removed from the bench for this case, as Mr. Dhanjee did not believe he could obtain justice with his presence. Similarly a Motion will be filed to remove Justice Hodoul, a former Minister in the SPUP Government and another SPPF PL appointment. Justice Hodoul also suffers from medical issues that may prevent him from delivering justice. As many will recall, Minister Hodoul signed numerous Land Acquisition Act property orders in the Rene’s One Party State.  This caused many Seychellois to lose their properties and still today, many have not received compensation for these wrongful and illegal communist-based acquisitions.

Justice MacGregor getting some poor advice from his mentor Michel ---   Justice Jacques Hodoul

In a rash move, to get rid of Mr. Dhanjee’s  case, it appears that the Court of Appeals is doing the politically expeditious thing: hear the case on July 12, 2011 and get rid of it to save face for sham elect president, James Michel (PL).

The Court Is Inconsequential To Human Rights Violation

Regardless of the decision of the Court of Appeals, Mr. Dhanjee’s lawyer has been burning the midnight oil for Freedom and has extensively researched the UN Fundamental Human Rights Charter obligations the Seychelles is being held to uphold by the Dhanjee case.

Pull The Communist Beast Tail

After the Court of Appeals is finished, the Dhanjee case will go to Geneva, before the UN Human Rights Committee. The case will be heard, and very likely, Dhanjee will win his case again. When that happens the Committee will very likely SANCTION the communist regime in Seychelles until the elections are set aside and Mr. Dhanjee is given the opportunity to stand as a candidate, as he should have been given in the first place.

Such a ruling, will affect international funding for Seychelles initiated requests. Jean Paul Adam will have his plate overrunning with SANCTIONS before the UN Human Rights Committee. Dhanjee pursues his case because he is a great patriot who loves his country. The pain, you communists, will only end when we have new presidential elections, and you end the practice of sham rigged Gappy-led elections in Seychelles.

Seychelles SANCTIONED For No Human Rights Country Report

Only in March 2011, the Seychelles was SANCTIONED by the UN Human Rights Committee in Geneva, Switzerland, for not filing any Country Report for over Seventeen (17) years. This violates Eight (8) different conventions on human rights.
Minister Jean-Paul Adam - No time for Human Rights reports, but plenty of time to party

What Is The Message?

The message is on the wall: “The Communists in Seychelles are being exposed”.

Anyone that attempts to give credibility to Communists for self gain, promotion, or self enrichment, will similarly be exposed as well!

No good ever comes from a deal with the Devil…..

I see no way around it.The UN will very likely sanction the govt. of Seychelles until another election is conducted with Mr. Dhanjee included to stand as a candidate...and this time everyone plays by the rules with proper observers.

Another election is conducted -- in 5 years time.

Is there anybody out there that can do us a favour by giving Krist the Gilliar an egg to suck on?.

Well, we are on the road to further SANCTIONS this will be the second one, if not amicably resolved in Seychelles through the implementation of TRUE Democracy and due respect for FREEDOM.

Viral Dhanjee Case will be one SANCTION.

MSR case will be another.

The Country Report not being filed is already in existence: SANCTIONS.

So the time to suck eggs is a call to PL to start cracking the eggs, so they can suck them as TIKLO their spear head brain would assert.

Bloody unbelievable that Jane Carpin has crossed the floor to vote with the SPPF.

This is an atrocity and Wavel and SNP have now lost all credibility in this country. If Carpin was bought, that's her problem and she joins a long list of traitors of Judas status who believe money is the end to all the means.

I am not a huge fan of Christopher Gill. However, I have followed this blog religiously over the years. I am shocked at what just happened and it is a sad day for our country. But the good thing is that I now have more respect for Gill and his rants and raves. It is clearer to me now that Gill in fact has been ahead of himself and that he was right all along. Wavel is a sell-out to Party Lepep and it would not surprise me if this was a calculated move that had been planned well in advance. By not following through with their boycott, SNP has now showed its true face (or trou fes) and I am now convinced that Ramkalawan is a closet Michel lover and supporter and simply there to enjoy his fact pension.

SIMPLY SHELL SHOCKED

Anonymous said...

Tell me it's not true that Jane Carpin has ended the boycott to vote with Parti Lepep!

Anonymous said...

All, Ramkalawan has again today suffered a few slaps. Ramkalawan has moved to remove Anthony Derjaques as MNA. The Speaker has refused to accept the letter citing some giberish, presently the SNP has 2 hostile MNAs, after Jane Carpin voted along with the PL to allow for Constitutional amendments for an Electoral Commission. Carpin gave PL the 2/3 majority required to vote for the amendment.

The latest exposes the weak leadership that has become Ramkalawan at the head of the SNP and Opposition. The honourable and right thing to do for Ramkalawan is to resign as the MNA for Anse Etoile (by extension the Leader of the Opposition) and the SNP which would then call an extraordinary metting of the party to elect a new leader.

Ramkalawan has led the SNP and opposition to the pits. His position is udefendable even for STAR resident SNP apologist.

God save Seychelles from its politicians.

There was no boycott, there never was. The SNP crew was in the Nat Assembly today. Carpin voted with the SPPF/PL at the end of debates. Ramkalawan did not know what hit him once again. Surely anyone right in the mind should see that Ramkalawan cannot cling on the leadership of SNP/Opposition after this.

Derjaques had jumped ship for some time now, but Ramkalawan letter to speaker to remove Derjaques only delivered today. The Speaker is probably allowing this situation to continue to create more confusion and disaray in the SNP.

That is a very good question from SNP apologist. This way of doing things have been encouraged by Ramkalwan and top SNP Leadership for some time. Let us do some historic. At the height of our econominc troubles in 2007, Ramkalawan marched to State House for secret and private discussions, the end result was that Ramkalawan (generally the policians and Constitional Appointees) got a huge salary increases, they got a pension for life. The lesson which was learnt by David Pierre, Derjaques, Carpin and the rest of the SNP Leaders was that it was ok to discuss and take money from the SPPF/PL. This is what Ramkalawan is getting, he is reaping what he sowed in 2007.

I bet i 'kas dan fes' to admit that Christopher Gill was right all along. When the SNP were targetting Gill over cross the floor, SNP Leaders were themselves planing when they going to cross themselves. Gill crossed the floor in 1994, Ramkalawan in 2007, Pierre, Carpin, Derjaques, Gervais Henrie in 2011.

SNP Leaders sold their sould to the devil in 2007, when they voted for your huge salary increases and voted a budget of austerity for the people. Now the devil has come to collect.

I am tempted to say that it looks like a carefully orchestrated plan by the SNP Leadership to sell the 23,000 people who voted for them to the SPPF/PL. One day they are boycotting, the bext they are in the Assembly. One day Mancienne says Ramkalawan is not resigning, the very next day Ramkalawan gives an interview to Today and says he is resigning. One day they will not participate in elections, the next day they will.

Can anyone make sense of Ramkalawan/SNP anymore?

We need to be wary of people who behave like Gill.

The Carpin episode reminds us that there are people among us who are ready to betray our hopes at any moment.

The opposition was supposed to give Michel a bloodied nose today. Instead, it is having to deal with treachery.

The whole electoral reform strategy for the opposition has been derailed by someone who has been in the assembly since 2009.

Vox has wanted Ramkalawan's scalp for years. It is not surprising that he is revelling in SNP's misfortune. But times like these make you wonder if there is anyone else apart from Wavel Ramkalawan who can lead SNP.

Michel obviously knew he could count on one SNP MNA to support his constitutional amendment.

This is not "people" being free to join and leave SNP, this is SNP leadership throwing in the towel in the face of the leadership, who has taught them how to do it, and taught them what they can gain from it.

Their is no excuse for SNP. The years of silence has caused cancer to take root.

All that can be done at this point is stop fighting everyone, if you can, unite the opposition, before it gets worse.

Guys, let us not make this about Vox ok? I told you so. My parting words will be you reap what you sow, the SNP 'traitors' are just following the leader who sold us out in 2007. SNP apologist says i wanted Ramkalawan's scalp. The simple answer is yes, i do not take too kindly of traitors. Ramkalawan was a traitor to the cause since 2007 when he choose to feather his nest and allowed the people to suffer the brunt of an economic reform. He advocated a boycott, yet he went to the National Assembly just so that he does not lose his salary. I call this treachery!

Who is the biggest Traitor of them all? WAVEL RAMKALAWAN a man blinded by greed, who sold his people into SPPF/PL slavery.

Vox

Vox has been after Ramkalawan well before 2007. What happened in 2007 is just a convenient argument for him.

Voting for pay increases may have been ill-advised, but hardly counts as "traitor" in the books of any reasonable person. The blows to the opposition are being delivered by those who find PL's money and patronage irresistible. It does not matter if SNP will not get to power in 5 or 10 years -- a principle is a principle and beliefs are sacred. It is suspicious that some can change their principles and beliefs and join Parti Lepep, simply because they disagree with SNP leadership.

Anybody see Jane Carpin's face tonight. She looked so "araze"! What a horrible mess.

Anonymous said...

Derjacques was unhappy with being removed. But he did not cross the floor. He keeps his dignity.

But as a lawyer he should know that the Leader of the Opposition can remove proportional members, even if the procedure for doing so takes more than one day. He was wrong to notify the speaker that he will appeal to the constitutional court, as this only allowed the speaker to play games. If the speaker follows the procedures for acting on the letter from the leader of the opposition, Derjacques has no reason to complain to the constitutional court.

Anonymous said...

Parti Lepep may rue their decision to capitalise on Carpin's treachery and for Potter to move a motion to dissolve the assembly in the afternoon, as soon as they realised they had a two-thirds majority. It was unconstitutional. They may well need to rely on Michel to use his own power to dissolve the assembly, if the assembly is reinstated by the constitutional court.

It is not unusual for a member of parliament to cross the floor and betray her party. But Parti Lepep's incompetence in reading the constitution and the law generally is extraordinary for a government.

Anonymous said...

It was a quickie dissolution. The Assembly adjourned until 4.30pm while Parti Lepep discussed their plans.

Herminie says that Carpin voted with Parti Lepep on the constitutional amendment, after having listened to the debate in the morning.

But there was no debate on the motion to dissolve the assembly in the assembly. So, what grubby deals did Parti Lepep stitch up to dissolve the assembly ?

SBC says Carpin will contest her removal at the Constitutional Court. But the assembly was dissolved before he could be removed. Why is she going to the Constitutional Court ?

Potter says she has dissolved the assembly because of the boycott and that the assembly cannot function with one side only. It did function with one side during the one party state and it will function with one side only after the next elections. Wonder what she will say then ...

The incompetence in the legislature and executive is keeping the judiciary very busy.

Then i remember SNP apologists and Wavel cheerleaders touting the actions of the Speaker and the later judgement of the Court as ground breaking, if i am not mistaken some described it as akin to Lord Dennings pronouncements. Re Carpin and Derjacques, Ramkalawan has done exactly what he did in the case of Elizabeth -- write to the speaker about the decision to replace proportionally elected members. That is what the SNP leader is required to do. It is Herminie who is acting differently this time because of the court decision in the Elizabeth case.

The constitution was badly written and there are gaps in it. Proportional members CAN be replaced by their party but the process is long-winded if they decide to challenge their replacement. Herminie now knows that.

The constitution does not give the leader of the opposition the right to fire a proportional MNA. There is no explicit power for that. The power lies with the political party represented in the national assembly by the leader of the opposition.

What to do if a proportional member does not want to be replaced ?

The constitution says that proportional members RESIGN from the assembly if they are no longer members of their political party. Therefore, if they do not want to be replaced, the party needs to EXPEL them first to trigger their resignation as MNA. The party

Anonymous said...

The party then informs the speaker that the proportional member is no longer a member of the party and no longer its proportional member. The speaker will issue the certificate to the proportional member who can challenge the decision in the constitutional court. While the court decides, the proportional member remains in the national assembly. If the court decides in favour of the speaker, the party is then asked to fill the vacant seat in the assembly.

The party will also need to make sure its procedures for expelling members are clearly written down and robust, as the proportional member can use that to challenge their removal in the national assembly. Ideally, it should give the party leader the right to summarily expel someone who refuses to leave the assembly, so that they can be replaced quickly, given the gravity of their offence and the urgency of the situation.

There are 23,000 people out there looking for leadership to remove PL. PL are clearly frightened of this. Carpin let every single one of them down when she raised her hand to vote with PL twice in one day on the two most important motions ever in the national assembly, while sitting with her SNP colleagues. That must rank right up there with Judas going over to Jesus to betray him with a kiss. It was shocking. We will recover from that blow and we are not going over to PL. They better know that.

Anonymous said...

Derjacques's case is different, as he did not vote against the party. You expect these rivalries and differences in any political party, especially in an opposition party that is undergoing a leadership change and people jockeying for positions. It's politics. It shows they are passionate. He has also refused to speak to SBC which counts a lot.

Gill has been joined by Carpin in his hall of fame.

"We will recover from that blow and we are not going over to PL. They better know that."

Please elaborate what you mean by 'we'? Maybe the ordianry man, but the SNP Leadership i.e members of the National Assembly and Executive Commitee are not trustworthy.

Who is the next one to sell his soul to the devil? Bernard Georges accused on nemerous occasions of misappropriating client money? Gervais Henrie? Colin Dyer? Brian Julie? JF Ferrari (he sold us once to Albert Rene lest we forget), Mrs Eichler who is known to have collaborated with the SPPF to enslave the people in the one party state and why not Wavel Ramkalawan? Did he not deal with Siva (Isn't Siva one of the PL 'bailleurs de fonds').

Seriously can anyone in the SNP Leadership be trusted anymore?

Anonymous said...

"Derjacques's case is different, as he did not vote against the party"

Splitting hairs are we?

Derjaques has notified the Speaker of the Nat Assembly that he is going to challenge his removal. There was no need for him to vote against the SNP, Carpin vote was enough. In fact Derjaques position is probably worse, he is taking the SNP as political party and its leader to court (as is Carpin).

The honourable thing for Derjaques to do would have been to resign as MNA for the party to appoint a new member after being requested by Ramkalawan the Party Leader. But i guess the word honourable is alien to the SNP Leadership.

This goes beyond difference and rivalries, it is a case of severe internal strife, chaos and disorder.

Anonymous said...

I was referring to the 23,000. I am not talking about what people did before multi-party and the birth of SNP. Many have proved their loyalty to SNP since then. It is those who are likely to betray the 23,000 that need to be cleared out by Wavel Ramkalawan. People are free to leave politics but they are not free to betray the hopes of 23,000 people while they leave. After Carpin's Judas act in the National Assembly, SNP will need to put some new faces forward to generate confidence. Some of the old guard, with advancing years, clearly have new priorities which PL are likely to capitalise on.

Anonymous said...

Derjacques voted with SNP. He is entitled to disagree with his colleagues. But he showed party discipline and did not vote with PL. There must be quite a few donkeys on PL side who wish they could throw away their muzzle and talk about their differences with Marie Louise Potter, Herminie and Michel. They will take their burdens to their grave, unless we can remove PL and allow them to speak out.

Incidentally, MNAs do not take SNP to court. They take the speaker to court. It is the speaker who decides whether to remove an MNA or not. Read what has been written earlier today.

A proportionally elected member has the same rights as a directly elected member in the national assembly. They cannot be sacked by the party leader -- not instantly anyway. They can be asked to resign. If they refuse, it gets difficult.

As I pointed to Gill sometime ago on his floor-crossing antic which is now being much imitated, the constitution forbids MNAs changing their political parties. If they do, they have resigned. This applies to both directly and proportionally elected MNAs. (An MNA who was elected as an independent cannot then join a political party without resigning as MNA.)

A party that wants to remove an MNA who refuses to resign will have to expel him from the party first. The party must follow its procedures for expelling party members.

Are you people still in SNP serious?

I just read some of your bozo comments you took time out to quote the constitution, and explain the ins and outs, theories of issues surrounding Carpin and Derjaques.

Now I want to puke! Its my turn.

What happened in the Assembly yesterday is nothing short of a political implosion.

Is exposes great issues in SNP that have gone silent for too long.

How Derjaques voted or Carpin or court cases to be persued at this point is very Quiotic and useless.

Its over, PL has called elections.

The PL communists have used all of you. You have been used because you did not unite the opposition.

Now do the right thing and stand by the People of Seychelles to remove the PL.

You can best do this by BOYCOTTING the next National Assembly Elections .

Simple, now get on with your lives, and when you fight for the people and fight for Freedom, make sure you do not forget what the fight is about.

Now you all are fighting each other.

Pathetic. Don;t you people ever learn?

Unite the opposition or just shut down your perty, which is made up of some great seychellois, but led by a bunch of lame opportunists !

When an MNA goes to the Constitutional Court he is challenging the certificate given to him from the speaker that he has ceased to be an MNA, if he has not resigned.

Herminie must now know that while he can suspend an MNA willy-nilly he cannot sack them willy-nilly.

Herminie will have another problem and I doubt if Govinden can help him there.

If the political party expels an MNA who refuses to resign in order to force a resignation, how does the speaker know that the MNA has been properly expelled from his political party. Both Carpin and Derjacques are claiming they are still SNP -- incredible though it is.

Herminie will have to act on the communication from the leader of the political party and let the Constitutional Court decide if the MNA was properly expelled from the political party.

Carpin yesterday reminded us of Christopher Gill, just as Gill was trying to put his floor-crossing behind him. Both occasions were equally dramatic and will do lifelong damage to the personalities involved. It is hard to believe that Parti Lepep will welcome these turncoats with enthusiasm, after having used them mercilessly. It was a bad day for Gill, MSR and SFP too.

I really need to laugh at SNP and Jean Francois-

We all know why I crossed the floor. Today, all Seychellois know, because I told them so.

I have no regrets for what I have done, because I have lived to to fight another day. Fight I have done so valiantly.

You SNP Bloks- are pathetic. Your whole executive committee is biegn bought out by PL en Bloc.

I stand and fight for FREEDOM today. I stand and call for unity, when you people plant seeds of division endlessly.

Remember, while you haggle over the speck on my eye, you forget about the plank on both your eyes.

I did not tell you this,it was the word of GOD.

For that, it shows how lost SNP has become.

Today you can read my column in the Weekly. DP has no issue with me. Their issue is with Mancham. Because today they now know who was selling us all along.

Maybe SNP has the same problem. But joining or supporting a communist government is not the answer to FREEDOM, it is a guarantee for future enslavement.

Unite the opposition or close the SNP.

MSR has been winning since its existence, examples:it was MSR leadership who exposed Khalifa Delo Kaka to the world, selling out of our patrimony, dishing out of our passports,Indaind illegally transported in containers by khalifa, the 2,5 billions missing in our coffers and a whole lists of misdeeds by PP and collaborators.Without MSR Seychelles would have been already become an Isalmic state and a colony of UAE and our citizen nothing less than slave in their own country. It is the leadership on MSR that the world press call upon when they need factual information on what going on in this country. They do not call RAM,or volcere but Chris.I think the only person who knows of RAM existance is Zwimbabwean Prime minister Tsvangirai, otherwise no one has every heard of him.Quit ambarassing for someone who has been at the head of the first oppostion party for almost fitheen years, isn't it?

Unfortunately, Chris, all political demagoguery such as we saw from Jane Carpin in the National Assembly reminds us of you. As I said yesterday, you are the trailblazer.

Anonymous said...

And something else, Chris. If SNP is that bad and is imploding, why does not the opposition migrate to SFP to unite ? It is not happening because you know that though the squabbles in the leadership sadden us, they do not shake our faith in the party. We are keeping the faith.

Anonymous said...

I guess soon we will have a form of united opposition, only that the opposition will be united with the PL. Seychelles politics is becoming like a banana republic political drama. We are becoming the laughing stock of the international community. And we are lecturing others at RIO-20?

Brigitte said...

It looks like SPPF's use of the old "divide & rule" - knowingly or not - has backfired.
The way i see it, there is no more SNP. The ones left should unite with MSR/SFP. If MSR/SFP has been registered as a Political Party already - if not what's the hold up - then SPPF should be very afraid. They are probably very afraid now. I have not read fully MSR/SFP's manifesto and i do not always agree with some of Chris' view however i believe he would be more up front in the assembly and would not allow the Government of Seychelles to blind him with bribes, bribes and more bribes.

Brigitte said...

Chris,
This is the time to atone for your crime. If in Seychelles today, there are so many people willing to sell their principles to the SPPF, it is because you showed them how it is done. When, as an elected MNA, you crossed the floor and joined the SPPF, you sowed the worse possible seed of corruption in our country. You glorified the act of treason and you gave dishonesty its public credentials. The Pierres and Carpins of this world are only following in your footsteps; they are bad but you are worse for having led the way.
So Chris, this is your chance to ask for forgiveness for your terrible and despicable actions, otherwise you will have to carry upon your shoulders the responsibility for all the acts of political treason of the third republic.
Be a man. Say you're sorry and history will remember you as a misguided politician not a traitor to your country.
I await your answer.

Brigitte said...

To lead the way you have to be in a position of power.
The biggest traitor of all is SPPF. To it's own people. They led the way & others followed. Once they start apologising then maybe others will follow. If others have anything to apologise for.
In the mean time all units go go go for MSR/SFP.

Brigitte said...

That's my view btw, i'm not speaking on behalf of Chris.

Jean Francois-

What Carpin did, reminds you of me because you have no love of Chirst in your heart, only greed and vengenance and self love occupies your heart.

This is Ferrari DNA which we all learn to live with over the years. Some of us have paid a great price for this Ferrari DNA.

My stepfather Peter Gill, who had 14 fishing boats and sold fish to La Reunion for 20.00 a kilo in 1981is one such person that paid a great price for Ferrari DNA when Dr. Ferrari acquired his business and ruined the fishing industry in Seychelles forcing fishermen to sell directly to SMB for under Sr. 10.00 a kilo. My stepfahter paid fishermen 14.00 a kilo.

Davidson Chang Him who died in front of you and your Father the doctor with a 9mm is another person that suffered for Ferrari DNA.

We pardon you in our hearts because we know beyond your skin, you are an ignorant. What you pass off as education is half baked and your Regar rag is our witness.

Unfortunately for SNP, they will suffer greatly, for just being associated with the Ferrari clan in more ways then you can count on your fingers. We have been conservative when dealing with you up to now. We are actually holding back information on you.

The power for us to pardon, allows us to live.

SNP though led by a priest, seems to have forgotten this basic principle of the Bible and allow the Ferrari mentality to call the day in house.

If you have no moral compass you will dish out pig food to us. Right now, you seem to be doing it by the barrels.

Your preoccupation with me is the source of your self destruction.

In the meantime, SFP cannot believe the amount of ex-SNP registering as party members.

So between your comments, and the reality of our efforts on the ground, there seems to be a big divergence.

By all means do keep it up. You are a blessing, even if you turn up to the table with pig food.

I must admit, even for an SNP apologist, that the party is in a severe crisis following yesterday's developments in the national assembly when party discipline was severely undermined. We count on Ramkalawan to steer the party out of this particular crisis, so that it can continue to be the great party that it is and that we are justly proud to support. The popular support for the party and Ramkalawan's leadership is as solid as a rock. As Today in Seychelles put it rather politely, it was the action of a rogue MNA trying to copy Christopher Gill.

But the problems in the Parti Lepep government are even more severe, following their DISGRACEFUL actions in the national assembly yesterday afternoon. These actions will consolidate the whiffs of illegitimacy about Michel's presidency and the new national assembly.

Herminie said on SBC that he will today write to the Electoral Commissioner to ask him to organise fresh elections.

Who the hell is the Electoral Commissioner ?

Yesterday morning, Parti Lepep government set up an electoral commission with the help of a turncoat to replace the electoral commissioner.

For good measure, the last acts of the national assembly was to amend the Election Act to remove all mentions of the Electoral Commissioner.

Gappy was made toast yesterday. Who is Herminie going to write to ? A toast ?

The new Electoral Commission has not been appointed. The process may well take weeks at least, if the Constitutional Appointments Committee is to advertise for applicants as promised.

We now need to wait for the Electoral Commission to be put in place (Gappy may well be resuscitated for that role) before elections can be held.

Furthermore, the manner of the dissolution of the national assembly may well be unconstitutional if it was not on the order paper in the morning. The National Assembly can't decide to dissolve itself, just because it was raining that day and Carpin had gone bonkers. The Constitutional Commission may well re-instate the national assembly before it can then dissolve itself properly.

Potter said she was dissolving to bring order to the national assembly. Clearly the boycotts were doing their heads in. But as usual with Parti Lepep whenever they try to fix something they break it even more. Parti Lepep may well have thrown the national assembly into utter chaos because of its incompetence. Faced with having a two-thirds majority in the national assembly, Parti Lepep reverted to type. It abused the power, without thinking about the consequences.

Another option is that the National Assembly can dissolve itself with a two-third majority, as was the case yesterday." The Nation.

From what Bernard Georges says on SBC this evening, the motion to dissolve the national assembly was not on the order paper sent to MNAs. It is difficult to see how the dissolution was constitutional under Article 111. A few weeks ago, Herminie refused to debate an urgent SNP motion at short notice, citing assembly procedures that had to be followed.

Another cock-up by Parti Lepep, aided and abetted by turncoat Carpin. Again, as soon as someone leaves SNP for PL, they go ga-ga.

Chaos. Utter chaos. The government is incompetent. The government itself should be dissolved. They will now need corrupt judges to tell us everything is fine.

Brigitte said...

Of course, and around and around we go.

Brigitte said...

The government should be dissolved because - i bet you - Mr Michel ordered the dissolving of the assembly.
That is the second time!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Taking the case of the unconstitutional dissolution of the national assembly to the constitutional court will be hugely embarrassing to the PL government if it loses. Will the judges dare uphold the constitution ? It should be quite a simple job for them.

Either PL is extraordinarily incompetent or it was a blatant disregard of the constitution.

If the judges reinstate the national assembly, PL can quickly dissolve it again if Carpin has the brass neck to turn up again.

Will Herminie and Govinden then resign or get sacked ? Unless it was Michel himself who ordered that the constitution be disregarded.

They could easily have constitutionally dissolved the assembly next week, by giving Carpin an armed escort to the national assembly. It would have been more shame on her, being protected by the very armed thugs that assaulted the opposition a few years ago.

With the National Assembly dissolved and with a very weak opposition Seychelles is heading to a democratic one party state !It will be a very sad day when this eventually happens in some 3 months time from today.

Anonymous said...

We have been a one party state for three decades. But my concern is why Pp dissolved the Assembly with newly elected members just after an election and was it not done before the election?Pp would like a super majority in order to have a free hand to modify the constitution according to its own interests without opposition and debates which as a result inforce Pp dictatorship. We must keep tab on the situation and must be prepare to stop Pp by means of people^s revolution should Pp attempt to control the whole Assembly without any opposition .We cannot let those donkeys bullshit us anymore.

From what Bernard Georges was saying last night, there are different views within the SNP Executive on the boycott -- from total boycott to no boycott. Hence, why we have been seeing a compromise of a partial boycott. He says some want "business as usual".

As Ramkalawan was not in the assembly, it can be assumed that he is in the total boycott camp. Dyer and Arissol were not there either.

I suppose we will have the same situation with the national assembly elections. A boycott will split SNP apart. Participation will reduce the opposition in the assembly to a rump. I would have thought a boycott would make more sense. No pain no gain.

I still think Ramkalawan should stay on as party leader to lead a boycott of the national assembly elections. He is the only one who can do this. I also think there will be few people who will want to be party leader without the title of leader of the opposition in the national assembly. There is a possibility that a breakaway SNP group will want to take part in the elections. They will not succeed if Ramkalawan is leading the boycott.

The new national assembly's legitimacy is already in doubt because of the way the old was dissolved. It is interesting that SBC could not get the Attorney General to contradict Bernard Georges last night. It is very unusual for SBC not to give the government an immediate right of reply. It can be assumed that Govinden did not want to come on SBC. If so, one wonders whether his legal advice was sought before dissolution, or whether Herminie and Potter flouted legal advice to dissolve the assembly. There will be strong suspicions that both the executive and legislature (i.e. Parti Lepep government) are illegitimate.

What is going on in the SNP leadership as it seeks consensus on how to fight for electoral reform may be exciting to the pundits, but what is going on within the Parti Lepep government should be very worrying for all right-minded Seychellois. This government continues to prove that it is grossly incompetent. The SNP leadership troubles pale in comparison. The incompetence of both Leader of Government Business and Speaker of the National Assembly was laid bare this week.

I wrote the piece above without mentioning Gill's betrayal of DP and I am feeling guilty.

The presidential elections were a shambles and are being contested in court.

The national assembly dissolution was a shambles and is landing the speaker ONCE AGAIN in the constitutional court.

The national assembly elections are a shambles and the electoral commission to organise the elections does not exist.

Parti Lepep government is a shambles.

In the meantime, Mrs Mondon moves all her responsibilities as Education Minister to the students themselves. RE-Launching a failed Project - Education Reform - which acording to the Nation started loosing it's momentum in late 2008, but they are now bringing in "new dynamism & drive". She wants the student themselves to eliminate the bad influences that are affecting them. She could have started with fining the shopkeepers who keeps selling the students alcohol at lunch time if not before, but no tell the students to sort out their own problems and she - Mrs Mondon - is the one getting paid to do that.
Need i go on??

So Brigitte do you endorse what Gill has done - posting the semi nude photo of an underaged girl on his blog?

brigitte said...

i will,

In order to blind them into thinking that what she & the gov is doing for them what no other leaders would do for their people, she talks about FUTURE LEADERS, RESPONSIBLE & EMPOWERED CITIZENS, she goes as far as telling them they are "the platform to ensure the students of your institution are fully involved in their education".
How are they suppose to do that?
It's not bad enough that they've created new management jobs in Air Seychelles (who's paying them?) but now they are creating new staff for this RE-LAUNCH of a TRIED, TESTED & FAILED Project.
I tell what they - the ministers - do put their efforts in, instead of giving them a voice (freedom of speach) & knowledge (because we all know knowledge is power) what do we give them??
Sesel i annan talan. Not dissing the show but that would be at the very bottom of a list of things to do to produce more knowledgeable students that can achieve their goal in life without being politically associated with SPPF.
We can't take the highlight from Independent School everytime they overachieve.

Well done Mrs Mondon. You're good i give you that. We use to have a saying back in school.
"god made the bees,
bees made the honey,
we do all the work,
and teachers get the money"
Damn right, only it's Ministers get the money!!

Catastrophy in every move the gov is making at the moment, every move they are making is turning into catastrophy. Not knowing what they are doing - incompetence, or bare faced lying to the people. Especially the ones who voted for them, and it's easier for SPPF because i'm sorry to say, don't mean to offend anybody, but the majority who did vote for SPPF are illiterate.
Now to those who wants to divert things, & start with insult this & insult that, here's the meaning of:

Adjective: Unable to read or write.
Noun: A person who is unable to read or write.

The illegal dissolution of the assembly is another headache for James Michel as he struts the globe pretending to be a democratic president of a democratic country. On Tuesday he overthrew the national assembly. It was a lot easier in the one-party days when they had no such pretences.

If he calculated that SNP would not object, he did not reckon with SNP's capacity for embarrassing either the corrupt judges that always rule in favour of the government or the government itself or both.

The case before the constitutional court judges is simple. Any law student knows what the phrase "a meeting summoned for this purpose" means. Will our judges pretend they do not ?

Sorry SNP Pathetic-

I never betrayed DP. It is DP that betrayed us all when they stayed silent as Mancham was selling us all out in 1993-1998.

The sell out was so prominent to the point that Mancham conspired with Rene to use armed men in the DP convention of 1994 to prevent me from challenging him. This led to other incidents of threats of force by Rene Butcher security.

These incidents are all well documented and Ramkalawan knew about it.

I was terminated as a member of DP because in part, I endorsed Ramkalawan motions to allow him to debate, which went against party line.

I have no problem with DP today. We have reconciled and Weekly features my articles every week.

What is happening in SNP does not surprise anyone.

If a leader cannot set a good example and explain a position with conviction, and cannot unite the opposition, what do you expect to happen?

RAM is just uncapable,he cannot even come up with an idea of how to fix the intra-conflict within his his party. What is that for a leader?Beranrd told us that there is friction within SNP on the strategy to adopt-whether totaaly boycott or partially the Assembly, right,we can assume that the some level of democratic pratics within the party whereby members can agree and disagree. But when A party is in such delimma how can one find a solution to the problem.Well by using democractic principles-for example,RAm could have hold an intern election of the issue, than the majority votes could be set as the norm and strategy to follow. But poor father is so beaten psychologically that he cannot even think of this simple and democracy solution. What for a RAM he is!

Reply to Jeanne D'Arc-

The SNP is in conflict with itself, because he has been copy and pasting and stealing ideas from STAR and MSR SFP for years now, without understanding what they are stealing.

The first issue: Are we in a Democracy, Yes or No?

If you answer yes, go back to Assembly, stand in Elections, and let SPPF PL use you in cocktail parties for another 5 years, ignore the SHAM Rigged Elections, ignore the railraoding of the Electorial Commissioner Act, ignore the disolution of the National Assembly, and the buying out of the sell outs of your party. Business as usual.

Your Gain: Your salary.

Our loss: a time out on the fight for Freedom.

Our Move: BOYCOTT ELECTIONS.

If you answer No and say you are not in a democracy, then the next step is to keep Ramkalawan to unite the opposition, because it means we need all the Freedom Fighters we can get on the front lines.

Why keep Ramkalawan, because may not have won elections, he may have made mistakes, but he can still go out a hero. The rest of you are just jockeying for position and salary and that is more of the same.

How do we know that?

Because when we see you in Public you act like a bunch of mouse and do not have the courage to talk as men.

Once you realize that you are fighting communism and we are still in a One Party state, you will stop being the wondow dressing SPPF PL needs to keep legitimacy.

When that happens, the roof will come down on the 3rd Republic.

Michel will have to step down or call new elections himself.

Or,

The 4th Republic will be negotiated.

Or civil strife will take place, until the principle of Sesel Pou Seselwa overrides the principle of Sesel Pou Arab or Sesel Pou Communists selman.

SNP needs to answer these questions to know where it is going.

You know where you came from, that is the past. Stop living in the past SNP.

Mr. Jean Francois Ferrari career objectives is not relevant to me, and it take second place to unification of the opposition.

Mr. Ferrari is incapable of leadership because he lacks empathy.

However, that does not prevent SNP from making him the leader. By all means do that, if you believe it is in your interest and State House.

The whole farce will be over on nomination day. On "ELECTION NIGHT", Gappy will declare all Parti Lepep candidates winners. They will be given 100% of the votes on the register, including dead voters whose names have not been removed.

LET THEM HAVE IT ALL.

Even if some opportunists stand, voting will take place only in those districts where are 2 or more candidates. There will be no voting in districts with just one candidate.
