Viral Dhanjee Moves To Void Seychelles Sham Elections

Dhanjee Moves To Void Seychelles Sham Elections

Mr. Viral Dhanjee has filed his Petition before the Constitutional Court of Seychelles to void and nullify the entire Presidential Elections of 2011, for being denied the right to participate in the democratic process by the Electoral Commissioner, contrary to guarantees under the Seychelles Human Rights Charter.

Constitutional Court in Conspiracy To Sham Elections
Mr. Dhanjee won a case before the Constitutional Courts of Seychelles, wherein the Three (3) panel judge ruled that he has a constitutional right to participate in the affairs of state. However, in conspiracy with the Executive Branch of government under James Michel, the Constitutional Court prescribe no remedy for the violation and breach of Mr. Dhanjee’s rights.

The Constitution of Seychelles is a modern document that unlike many other constitutions, it prescribes remedies for violation of human rights and individual rights. The Court went conveniently blind, and conveniently forgot how to read the Constitution of Seychelles.

It clearly was not an error nor was it incompetence, because the Judge reading the judgment was no other than Justice Bernadin Renaud, the person who officiated over the drafting of the Seychelles Constitution. He knows every violation of right must have a remedy. The Constitutional Court has Plenary Jurisdiction to resolve such issues. If they have any integrity, they are powerful. If they lack integrity, they fail us all.

Courts in The Sham
The Viral Dhanjee case along with the MSR case for party registration has blown open the Courts of Seychelles conspiracy with the Executive Branch to prop up the sham regime of James Alix Michel. MSR case is on appeal as well. In MSR case, the Attorney General cited not one case law, and won the case. The Judge took no Judicial Notice of the Fundamental Human Rights Charter of the Constitution of Seychelles. He even inferred conduct and action by mere speculation.

Court of Appeal In Conspiracy To Sham Elections
On Appeal to stop the elections, Mr. Dhanjee faced Justice Francis Macgregor and his request to stop the Presidential Elections of 2011 was denied on the argument of the “Balance of Convenience”. Anyone who has any knowledge of Constitutional law will know that the “Balance of Convenience Test” does not apply to fundamental human rights. With this erroneous decision, the courts can rule that the Balance of Convenience” made it appropriate to kill a person that was running away from the Police.

Another erroneous error by Justice Macgregor that calls into question the independence of the Judiciary in Seychelles with red lights, is the decision to allow the Attorney General to file an Affidavit in his own name, on behalf of the Electoral Commissioner who did not file an Affidavit, though he is a Defendant Respondent in the case.

Justice Macgregor accepted a substituted Affidavit in the name of Mr. Ronny Govinden the Attorney General. In any democratic, law abiding society no judge would, even if he was biased, allow such flawed documentation to be filed by the State Counsel.

In any State that is democratic, a State Counsel filing such erroneous documents to balance a human rights case would be terminated immediately. Instead, what did we see after the Sham Election results? The Attorney General lining up to kiss the Sham elected President on the lawn of State House as if the Oscar Awards were up and the Best Actors were being rewarded and recognized.

Void Sham Elections of 2011
Mr. Dhanjee’s case to void the elections of 2011 will be heard on June 14th, 2011. If the Constitutional Court is truly independent, he will win his case and elections will be declared null and void Ab Initio because a candidate that should have been on the ballot paper was missing and there was reasonable time to have placed him on the Presidential Ballot Paper.

These cases have exposed the rig process and the sham elections better than any Commonwealth Observer Report could do justice to Seychelles precarious situation wherein Shiek Khalifa has pumped over $200 Million to salvage a failing Communist regime. Only the attention of the international community can bring Seychelles back to normalcy at this point.

As we wait for the court ruling, we are already in a One Party State, and there is no official functioning opposition. Seychelles is coming apart at the seams and Sheik Khalifa is pumping money into her, under the “Sesel Pou Arab “ policy of Sham Elect President James Michel.

We must now call for a new constitutional conference roundtable for new laws and new rules to be enacted and put in place. Then we will pass that and then we can have decent civilized elections, without vote rigging and election sham.

SNP is duty bound to Boycott the PL until a Constitutional Conference is duly announced. Nothing else will do at this point.

We must step up the campaign to Boycott key activities and key crony businesses.

James Michel has wiped out the Ferrari car with a SHAM!

  2. I applaud Christopher for the determination that he shows, but I ask the question whether Seychellois, in their majority care about what is going on. They've sleep-walked into the election and on Sunday will again make their way to Victoria to "celebrate James michel's decisive victory". They'll go back to bed without being able to wash away the dust and the sweat, but do they care? Do they see anything dodgy with an arab sheikh pumping money into their country? Would they ask why? Because if they cared, if they really cared about the future of their country and that of their children, they'd be doing something about it.Don't blame SNP for this. You can bring a cow to the stream but you cannot force it to drink. Clearly, Seychellois are happy and contented with their lot. I say, "dekile SNP, les Jj travay"

  3. I agree, Seychellois are happy in the shit that James Michel has dragged them in. They've drunk delo kaka and if they're not careful they are going to be made to eat it. And they'll be happy and thank "nou prezidan" for the privilege and honour. Our country is doomed and we all along with it.How sad.

  4. On SBC this evening Joel Morgan said that government did not have the means to build dams. Our efficient SBC did not see the need to ask him whether he understood what "prioritising" means. As within a family, government resources will always be limited but it's a question of good planning and setting priorities. The numerous fancy community centres around the country could have been pushed back to later. Their cost, along with the millions spent on new cars for the president's protection, bribing of voters, etc, could have gone some way into getting us another little dam somewhere.

  5. Yes, and the endless opening of embassies all over the world that cost the country so much. In UK, for example, government is paying not only for Pat Pillay and his family, but also, a secretary and her family, a PA, a driver and his whole family, a housemaid, ALL flown over from Seychelles. No resources? Lots being wasted on giving some people a cushy job at the expense of the Seychellois population.

  6. Morgan should know the country cannot afford to run desalination plants either, they eat electricity and produce poor quality water.

    ReplyDelete
  7. MORGAN should jump into a latrine hole and hide himself. What about our u$2,5 billion and the U$4,5 million you personally stole from us Morgan?

Desalination plant is very costly ,it requires lots of energy to operate and increase greenhouse gas emissions. The plant itself has a life of 15 years only, according to experts, high costs of maintenance etc...etc and etc...

Communists, guys are the very definition of fIALURE ,lets unite as a people and get those goons out now.

  8. Reply to Majority

The perspective you take is a knee jerk position in light of an apparent defeat.I understand your frustration. I feel your pain. But please consider these points carefully.

PL does not have a majority. That is the whole point of what I have been writing about for Five (5) years.

They rig elections, buy voter ID cards from drug addicts and Bakka slaves before elections.

They compile fake lists for roofing sheets, fridges, toilets, flat screens to manipulate the poor and desperate people of our country that are vulnerable the most, because of PL's failures.

They shower them with artificial attention.

Money is dished out, before elections. One driver collecting people in Praslin had Sr. 250,000.00 to dish out.

It is a highly corrupted and manipulative process.

In addition, state largess is rolled into the effort and state budget as well.

Indian contractors, GOP workers are given red shirts to wear at rally, and stay in the back ground.

GOS employee must show up and must be present at rallies or they lose their jobs if they are not seen by superiors.

Everyone in the rallies have to "check in to someone, say hello see me kinda thing and check me ".

The boat list for Praslin and La Digue is double checked, and 500.00per person or even 1000 at a time is given for a day exursion. Boat owners have to provide the service.

Only use of state apparatus can make this happen.

On the Voters List- fake citizens grace them as much as 5000 . This election 7000.

At Social Security office ID card are made on the double on request without verification.

These are areas that the Observers to not see, because they focus on the process of voting, not the process of shamming elections.

PL is weaker today then ever since 1980. You must remember, politics is not played in the one demension. It is in the 3rd realm. You cannot see the political credibility. You cannot touch it. But it is either there or not.

    For PL, it is gone!

They stole the election. It has been exposed to the WORLD. There is no turing back, only moving forward for real FREEDOMS.

I am more hopeful today for change then ever, because in the past we did not expose them, everyone played along.

  9. Stolen or not, James Michel is sitting comfortably at state house. Exposing them will not change anything in the short/medium term. There is nothing that happened in the last election that has not happened in previous elections since the return to multi-party politics. Is the system any fairer today than then? Don't think so. Hence my frustration.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Reply to Frustrated-

I understand your pain. We all are living through it.

    Question: Is the Elections Stolen?

    Yes or No:

Answer: Yes. All elections have been stolen. But this is the first election that anyone called for a BOYCOTT, myself and MSR ( Blocked Party) , Viral Dhanjee ( Blocked Independent Candidate).

This is the first election wherein the candidates called the elections a SHAM: Ramkalawan, Boulle Volcere.

The elections were not Free and fair. No Observer can claim this.

What does that mean and what is different today from the past?

We are calling for BOYCOTT of PL and we will engage in politics of BOYCOTT Peaceful, passive resistence.

Once 55% of the Seychellois tune in, they will do the same.

The country will come to a stand still until a Constitutional Conference is called for to renegotiate the conditions of the broken social contract between all parties.

This is the first item on the agenda. Everything else must wait until this matter is resolved.

People cannot be governed if they do not agree in a bona fide manner to be governed by anyone.

Secondly, we have exposed Michel on the international front.

Today, international writers, tune in to Seychelles: Ben Carson from Africa Think Tank, Moron from AFP Africa others from AFP and Telegraph.

These writers are tuned in to Seychelles reality, because today, unlike the past, we can give them information in real time. We interact with them like they are in Victoria, sometimes they are.

John Bingham of Telegrpah was here last week on assignment.

On the diplomatic scene , everyone knows what Khalifa is doing in Seychelles, it is not a secret and it is not sustainble.

The problem we had in the past was we have had an opposition that plays for the pocket and dosh from SPPF PL. They do not play for real Freedom.

If you demand real Freedom, sooner or later you will get it.

It is time for each Seychellois to ask what they can do with their talents and skills, resources, to bring about change in Seychelles.

I am doing what I can. I am only one man. I cannot get there without help.

The time to resolve to remove this Communist Government once and for all is now!

You cannot even take a bath in Seychelles, or flush a toilet, what more evidence of failure do you need?

If you think things are the same as ever before: google Seychelles Sham ELections, Seychelles Rigged ELections, Seychelles Communists.

  12. Narcissus at STB is particularly virulent at weekend when it invades Seychelles Nation.

Narcissus press releases now tell us that every coverage that Seychelles get in the international press is due to the work of Alain St Ange.

He had nothing to do with the Royals' decision to honeymoon in Seychelles. He did not respect their privacy -- he announced to the world that they had arrived as soon as their plane touched down in Seychelles.

  15. Exposing PP HAS change many things and more will come sooner than latter:If PP called in Interantional Observers becuase it ias not becuase Pp wanted that but because of pressure, though not to our satisfaction.
-The world knows about Michel and his thugs , but also about Khalifa astrocious act of shiting in our rivers .
    -
-American courts know Michel and pp for stealing millions of dollars from American nationals like Mr. lee and others. By the way,Obama is watching and has again repeated his willingness to help those fighting against dictators more than ever.
-Interantional Human rights body knows Pp for not providing records on Human rights for the last thirty-four years.

-SADC-has also exposed PP rigged election.

-International press etc.. have been breaking the telephone of Chris to have information on election and other issues. All these things are pressuring Pp to change its way.
.ANd we are going to continue the pressure and exposure of Pp unstill it is on its knees and unstill domocracy become the norm in this country.

It should be also noted that in most if not all of those circumstances where Pp has been exposed it was becuase of the ,hard work, leadership of one man namely Chris. It has taken sometime to have an effect on PP but his perseverance, patriotism, and determination has proven to be successful and useful.he struggle is now bearing fruits.
.Just image if we would have put our trust in the likes of RAM probably all our patrimony would have already been gifted to foreigners by now and our people would have been turned into slavery long ago.

There is no need to be frustrated.Frustration kills one^s activeness and motivation that in turn w plays in the favor of PP,that is exactly what Pp wants and has been doing for the last thirty-four years.there is a wind of change blowing constantly on this country no one could stop it .

  18. Reply to Jeanne D'Arc comment on our work.

I have been a front man in this effort. But believe me, I have never been alone.

There are perhaps the smartest and brightest Seychellois, who love their country who have helped me every step of the way. I listen and learn from them.

I do not reveal their names because they are humble and devoted to see "Sesel Pou Seselwa"!

They are also devoted to seeing "Seselwa Unite" to remove this Communist scourge from our country.

These patriotic men and women I work with, make me proud to be a Seychellois! They sacrifice when called to sacrifice, and they helped straighten the back of a ailing opposition for 5 years now.

Exposing SPPF did not come in one day. It came in many years of hard hitting articles.I have over 20 volumes of articles, enough for the same amount of books with golden lacing, but these self endowment efforts, are not where change rests.

The ideas these patriots share with me, their sentiments shared, have strenghtened my resolve to press on.

We must not spend too much time naming our fallen brothers. We all know them. We must pray for them, but at the same time, never let them forget that what they have done to spite Ramkalawan, they have in the process hurt Seychelles and her people. For this, we will never pardon until they seek pardon.

When they do, we must remember that they are our brothers, fallen as they are, and when ready, you must pick them up and slog on.

In accepting them , down the road, you will open the door for blind SPPF PL to follow them out of darkness.

Change will come. Michel has done us so many favors, he does not even know it.

He has done great dis -service to his own Party. They will soon see.

Their reactions (from SBC) were that of two leaders trying very very hard to convince its audience that they have a plan and yes they will deliver, Faure threatening employers with a pay increase next year. They did not exude a confident disposition, as if their shouting and threats were meant to scare us. Instead of creating employment, it is threatening businesses with a wage hike. 58. Michel's threat to sweep all assembly seats is an attempt to engage the opposition. Since his reelection he's been playing and talking to himself. I just could not belive my ears when I heard James Michel said in his speech at Freedom square yesterday that he welcomes everybody to help and make Seychelles a better place for all Seychellois. This is good to hear as I have been hearing him say this over and over again since he won the election. What amazes me is in the same breath he express how Parti Les Pep will conquer all the seats in the forthcoming assembly elections. What does that say about Peparti le Pep, either he wants us to work together or not and start changing things or he wants to run the country under a one party. Make up your mind President Michel.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Well what Michel said proves that he knows that he is not work for Seychellois but his foreign friends.Michel seems not to understand that he is President of Seychelles and his jobs and duties is to work for his people and country. However,we must not pay much attention to what Michel is saying, for Michel is saying what he is saying simply beucase he is feeling the pressure on him and each time Pp has pressure its comes up with all kinds of promises with the hope they would calm us down.Pp autocratic system can not change and it is not a regime who disrepect all norms and rule of law for the decades who would bring about reforms.

He is very upset with the boycott and snubbing of the election announcement and swearing in ceremony. I just hope that the opposition organises itself and continues to defy them both openly and subtly to show them that we mean business. Wavel as the leader of the majority opposition party needs to maintain this stance as well as engage other political parties including Boulle and others so as to work from a platform of strength to give Michel and Lepep a real challenge. We have the momentum, so let's keep it up. Here is some of the amendment i would expect to see among other:
-Independent electoral Commission-"My Personal proposal would be that the chef of the Commission must not be finger pick by the President but first, all members on the Commission should have a system whereby they concduct an internal vote in order that they can themselves choose who they think is best to represent the Commission. Then the best two person would be presented to the President in order that he could choose between the two.It will discourage favouritism by the president. And the chef electoral commission post should also be limited .

    -Local Observers
    -Law on campaign financing
-list of voters make public at district level just after the local count is done in order that local Observers, parties, and individuals may check their names and so on.

Bye elections take place for elected posts once an MNA resigns in writing to the Speaker- from his seat.

    No other exception.

All you have to do is write to Herminie and tell him you are actively Boycotting Assembly, and that does not mean you resign from your seat.

Tell him you still retain your seat and you are best serving the people by a Boycott.

Failing that just tell him to take his One Party State seat and stick it in a TATA BUS where it is needed most.

Now reply to the person that says Gill fill the vaccum.

The Boycott is the vaccum PL Collaborator. The Boyocott is filling the void to expose the One Party State that Seychelles is.

Michel is an Autocrat- Dictator. He is Minister of Defense, State House, Planning, Land Use, Habitat, Tourism.

Left out is Culture, agriculture, admin. Finance, Two of those controlled by Faure, the Communist from KUBA.

This takes Seychelles back into the One Party State, since you PL Collaborators could not accept and respect democratic freedoms and norms in the country to conduct elections fairly.

You stole the elections. Not by just vote buying, but by blocking MSR, blocking Dhanjee, then stealing ID card, making lists for fridges, roofing sheets, trips to Mauritius, and paying for ID cards.

All opposition parties that have Seychelles interest at heart, must hold the BOYCOTT line.If you do, there will be no 5 years for Michel, and he knows it. It will be more like 5 months.

Nick Prea has done a secret meeting with Herminie. He should resign as an politician for crossing the Boycott line. Go plant aubergines, Prea, you are wasting our time if you cannot hold the Boycott Line like a man.

Reminds me of Daniel Belle in DP in the old days, always scheming making deals with SPPF behind everyone's back, looking out for his own career at the expense of the Party .

He can only continue to beg and beg to run a country and dream X2 GDP by 2020.

  106. At the last election the opposition polled 45%, despite all the bribes dished out by PL. That remains the case until the opposition takes part in another election, whether it is represented in the national assembly or not.

If the national assembly elections are boycotted, PL will poll more than 55%, as people will be too scared not to go and vote.

That will not change the fact that at the last elections it contested the opposition polled 45% and can therefore legitimately claim to represent 45% of the population.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Correction to my post above.

  109. Gill, an MNA stops being a member if they are absent during a session of the Assembly, for a continuous period in excess of NINETY DAYS
during which time the Assembly has been summoned to meet and continues to meet.

For the boycott to be effective, SNP will need to attend a session before the 90 days are up, and then resume the boycott. And so on ... until Michel dissolves the assembly.

Or why not have bye-elections in August ? There will not be any election, unless opportunistic candidates stand.

SNP can still nominate the 4 proportional members (that is based on 2007 general election) to continue the boycott.

What if PL decide not to field candidates, but get so-called independent candidates who will be elected without an election as the opposition ? With 7 of them they can have their own Leader of Opposition.

    ReplyDelete
  110. It is possible 5000 votes have been influenced by money. Danny Faure said no state resources were used to win this election. He was lying. For months, Michel and Faure have been giving away things left, right and centre. They even managed to give away land on a reclaimed island just in time for the election.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Both SNP and PL have got a core vote that does not change. That core vote is less than 50%. It is the floating voters, perhaps 5000-10000 that determine the election.

It is hard to see why floating voters would vote for PL, especially if they could not have a wash before going to the polls. Unless they do not really care.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I see the possibility of vote-buying or "influencing" of voters but I cannot buy the assertion that 5,000 people were bought. We have a lot of morons in our country but 5,000 is far too many. Wavel and SNP needs to take some blame in the way they ran their campaign. If people thought they were credible, they would have taken Michel's money then still voted for Wavel or at least spoil their votes. It comforts us to believe that Michel bought voters. It diverts attention away from our own failings as an opposition party.

A BOYCOTT is a BOYCOTT and no one is to CROSS THAT LINE, until a call for a New Constitution and New Electoral Laws, are in placed and PL tells us they will stop gerrymeandering districts, and PL will tell us all how they will stop buying votes, and stop putting Fabrikes on the Voters List.

Everything else is a waste of time.

Going to National Assembly, in a covert, secret meeting with Dr. Herminie by Nicolas Prea is a total joke.

    1) A very good and well funded campaign by PL

    2) A crappy non-existing campaign by SNP

A friend of mine, a sworn SNP for years even said that SNP had hardly campaigned and didn't even hold a proper rally. So what to expect?

Yes, voters have been bought in the sense of free re caps, free t-shirts, free beer and similar, but not even I believe that 10000 voters were bribed to vote PL.

The opposition have done a crappy job, as usual, and it is convenient to blame bribes rather than their own failure.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I agree with Christopher that Michel is very worried about the impact of what the boycott could mean for his reputation and image. Remember that Michel's ego unlike Rene thrives on the his delusional thinking that he is a tolerant and magnanimous president. This perception cannot be maintained if the opposition is boycotting the elections outcome and his whole way of doing business. Difficult for him to pretend that all is going well, which is why he is desperately but successfully courting Mancham. What is for certain this is not making him win any points here because he has underestimated how despised Mancham has become both within his camp and the opposition.
Yes I do think that it is possible to buy 200 votes in each district, whether it be a fridge, a car, a piece of land etc. and I do think that there are enough gullible and unscrupulous voters out there who could not care about taking these bribes, as we have seen.
I do not think that we should be licking our wounds for too long, for we must remain very comforted by the fact that we are still a very strong force at 45% and Lepep must know that we cannot be beaten. The moral responsibility however is with the SNP (being the majority party) to form a coherent platform with other competent forces to take on the system. The power and impact of this platform, well as they say the sky is the limit. When this happens I will identify myself and come out and give my full support......

    ReplyDelete
  119. You all miss the point, THE VOTERS REGISTER is the key, and LE PEP control it. How may non-bonafide voters are on it, enough to swing an election?

    ReplyDelete
  120. Would not quite say missed the point as this has been an ongoing isse by the participating candidates throughout the election process which the Commissioner of Elections refused to address, leading us to believe even more strongly that fraud was taking place via the Electoral Register. This will certainly need to be one of the first issues to be tackled.

    ReplyDelete
  124. So where does all this leave us? I retain the following main idea: Boycott at all cost. It's clear that come 31 august, if SNP does not return to the assembly, their resignation would be assumed and bi-elections held. Can we live with this? As it looks like SNP would have boycotted the forthcoming national assembly election anyway,it does not change anything.Let Michel have the assembly all to himself, let him propose and vote his own lawas, them them discuss among themselves how great they are. If the world then sees this as a beacon of stability and democracry, then the world would have gone nuts.

    ReplyDelete
  125. And when people are fed up with the circus, they'll come out in the streets to exercise their freedom of expression.

    ReplyDelete
  126. A boycott looks better if you have 11 seats in the National Assembly. Attend every 3 months to stop bye-elections, until general elections. It is a tactic to make the boycott more effective, and keep it alive. Keep the suspense going a bit. This is a risk-free strategy for SNP, apart from MNAs losing R1000 per sitting.

Boycotting the general elections carries a lot of risks. PL will have 100% of the national assembly, without a single vote being cast. Life may go on, as if nothing has happened. It does not look like there will be an extra parliamentary campaign to put pressure on PL. We will be relying on Michel's hurt ego, like a previous blogger says. Michel will not be able to claim he is the president of a democratic country and that he tolerates opposition. He will come under international pressure (UK, USA, France) from countries that accept that Seychelles is taking too long to convert from one-party state to a democratic country. If he does not mind this, it is difficult to see what we will get from a boycott.

For a boycott to be effective, it must be accompanied by extra-parliamentary campaign by an extra-parliamentary opposition.

If SNP is planning to retire into the political wilderness, bye-elections after August or whenever are irrelevant.

  130. To Cut The Crap...Yes, let's cut the crap...Simply put Michel won the elections by fraudulent means. He knows it, Danny Faure knows it and we all know it. That is why they are feeling extremely uncomfortable with the boycott. So let the boycott continue!!!!!

  131. The 5 June rally on Freedom Square resembled a wildlife programme on SBC -- a sort of "wildlife in Seychelles" programme. The dynosaurs arrived late afternoon and they hissed, grunted, bellowed and then went home.

Really, they should call the place Jurassic Park on 5 June.

  132. I am not sure if there is anything worth debating. As long as the playing field is not level there will never be free and fair elections in Seychelles.

Whatever be the motives of Ramkalawan/SNP for participaing in the elections of 2007 and 2011 (it was clear since 2006 that the opposition is unlikely to win an election), they should now stick to their guns and boycott the Nat Assembly and all future elections. PL/Michel is in any case running the country as defacto dictatorship, let this status be formalised.

Bernard Sullivan the SNP activist has been arrested for soi disant inciting violence on facebook. This says it all.

It cannot be any more simple than that. Close shop and do some other business, the 44% who voted opposition will survive, let us see how 55% does. They will have to take to the streets themselves.

  133. SNP should not attend the National Assembly at all cost. They should continue with the boycott until SPPF calls in a by-election which is by my understaning only occurs when an MNA officially resign or passed away. The boycott is very effective so far & SPPF/PL is very worried. Let them field their paid independent candidates in the by elections so that they can hold all the seats. Michel has said in public that he will win all seats in the next MNA elections away. We are already in the parti inik & let it be till it reaches breaking point. I was very surprised to learned that Prea said that they will return to the assembly if Bernard George motion appears on the order paper. Very strange indeed! They have already made the decision right after the presidential elections to boycott but now decided that they might go back. Are these guys really serious? Now we will see the true colours of the opposition, if they are serious in creating changes in seychelles or if they are only there for cashing in & self-preservation!

    ReplyDelete
  135. The motion is calling for an ELECTORAL REFORM COMMISSION (see nation today) and a cross-party electoral reform commission is probably the best forum to discuss and agree electoral reforms. It makes sense for SNP to attend to debate the motion.

If PL rejects the motion, the boycott continues until acceptable electoral reforms are implemented. If a credible commission is set up and the timescale for its work is acceptable, it makes sense to suspend the boycott while the commission does its work.

Participation in the National Assembly elections will depend on what electoral reforms are implemented and how effective they are in practice.

Without a commission, SNP will be reacting to whatever reforms PL decides to implement.

SNP cannot boycott indefinitely because of what happened in the presidential elections. The boycott is intended to achieve electoral and broadcasting reforms. The boycott must be accompanied by clear demands for specific reforms. If these demands are met, there is no need for a boycott.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I was expecting Herminie to be in celebratory mood on SBC about the boycott. Didn't he say during the campaign he wanted to eliminate opposition ? It did not appear like he was in celebratory mood on SBC, with the prospect of winning all votes on the register and 100% MNAs.

The assembly chamber is very big. Even with a full house, there are spare seats between PL and SNP. Without SNP, the chamber looks half empty. It looks eerie. No wonder the speaker and PL MNAs were looking down in the mouth yesterday in the assembly. The half-empty chamber must be doing their nuts in.

  145. Brasssel Adeline made an ass of the judiciary today. We saw a former Parti Lepep activist and MNA (no doubt still supporting Parti Lepep) who has been made a tinpot magistrate, sitting in judgement over an SNP activist and remands him in custody for no good reason. The independent judiciary does not exist. No wonder the En Nouvo Sesel regime is nervous at the slightest indication of popular anger.

    ReplyDelete
  146. So sorry guys, let's get a life and move on. There may not be any hope with parti lepep but does anyone see anything better with SNP? It's the inconsistencies and mixed messages - NOT VOTER BUYING that will keep SNP in opposition forever until they get their act together. Electoral reform or not, they won't get my vote ever again. Nor will lepep. Let me get on with my life.

  147. It is jungle justice when you appear before a magistrate with an axe to grind against you and jails you for no good reason. It makes you a political prisoner. This comes on the back of a bought election. This will make a lot of people very very angry. Justice is falling well short of standards expected in a decent country.

This election may well be Michel's second coup d'etat, complete with the killing of political opponents and imprisonment without trial.

  148. I have not read any reference to shooting on Bernard Sullivan's Facebook. His profile is public and I have seen the reference to stains.

It is not a crime to say Michel should be shot, especially for his high treason crime which he admits. This is expressing an opinion. I am not aware that there is a specific law which says that it is a crime to say Michel should be shot.

  149. Once upon a time Philippe Boulle fought against the "right to remand" by the Court. What happened? He was silently scorned by many people because in their minds he was trying to protect criminals. He was very alone in this crusade, being the human rights advocate that he is he still carried on even recently in the court case of "right for all seychellois to vote irrespective of residence" he still advocated forcefully for remand prisoners to have a right to vote too. Little did some of you realise that sa "ki kapab ariv lo li i kapab ariv lo ou", the whole essence of Philippe's arguments. Hopefully Bernard's case will wake some of you up!!!

    ReplyDelete
  150. Oh yes!! And remember when Boulle said at the last elections, that what Seychelles needs first and foremost right now, before anyone of us could go forward with any big projects and plans, is total reform of the judiciary, police, etc. as these are the very pillars of a democratic society for without these reforms we CANNOT move forward, didn't we laugh at him. Instead what did SNP do they went on a last minute campaign to call a vote for Boulle and Volcere a vote for Michel. Some of you may have seen him as having a big ego, but the man had a fucking vision, more than a few of your heads put together, so now go and get a life for yourselves and accept the shit that Lepep is pouring down on you.

  151. The day before yesterday, they denied MSR registration for "beliefs" because they were dangerous to PL existence.

Yesterday, they denied Viral Dhanjee registration because he was contesting a Presidential Election, and he was not "Seychellois" enough according to PL to be in the opposition. This would take votes from PL.

Today they arrest Bernard Sullivan for a Virtaul statement on Facebook . This is ridiculous and a show of total lack of respect for the Right to Freedom of Speech and Freedom on Expression.

In order to incite, the words, must be immediate in time to an action. It cannot be virtual or remote from.

Orders were clearly given by Michel, and the case shows two things: 1. PL will trample on all Seychellois rights, 2. Michel is an Autocratic dictator, that stole an election, hence does not have the credentials of a democractically elected leader.

With that, he cannot tolerate even a facebook comment.

    Pathetic!

What is more pathetic is the SNP going back to the National Assembly, to give credibility to the SPPF PL SHAM ELECTIONS.

Seychelles is starting to spin, out of perspective, we have lost our way as a people and with that, we are sacrifcing FREEDOM on the mantle of monthly stipends for MNA's in the Opposition.

I said SNP would not hold the BOYCOTT Line. They have just sent out confusing signals to buy time.

Now, they should close down. They serve no valid purpose as an opposition. They only give credibility to Communists to keep on butchering our rights.

    ReplyDelete
  154. The way i have seen things going those past few years and lately, i do not pin much hope on SNP getting anything with participating in Nat Assembly. Michel had already said in its first Cabinet Meeting that he has ordered the Att General to write bills which would allow for an Electoral Commission, change the Broadcasting Laws. Even if the Nat Assembly were to debate on those matters, it would still go back to Att General to draft the laws. SNP demands are likely to be accepted but are they going to change things materially? An electoral commisssion is likely to be made of Gappy, Morin, that lady (4got her name) or some other no so independent individuals. SNP exccuse (put forward by B Georges) is that PL bought 5000 votes on the date prior to elections. How is any of the SNP demands going to address that? I doubt if a Commision will stop that.

My opinion is that SNP demands are not properly articulated and does not address all the issues peventing a level playing field. They do not address the issue of partial police force and partial judiciary. The latter is the cornerstone of the PL regime. Reference made to the Dhnajee cases.

For a boycott to be effective, we need to boycott all instituions of the state!

  155. I don't agree with the blogger that says that SNP should return to the National Assembly to discuss the setting up of the Electoral Commission if the motion is accepted. The motion will probably be accepted because it was Michel who announced it just after the elections. What will happen however is that Lepep will not be giving the opposition an easy ride on this issue and if the opposition does not agree with what Lepep comes up with, to restart the boycott would have lost the effect. We have the momentum, we should stick to it. We don't need them. I agree with Vox's last two comments. Let them have their cake and eat it too. Our 45% will remain. We will need however to keep our supporters fully aware of what we are doing and why we are doing each step of the way so that any negative publicity by Lepep is countered.
I also partly share Christopher's comments, let's not be sending out mix signals, we still have the upper hand guys, hold on to it...

    From Guardian (UK)

But Biti, who is in effect the number two of the prime minister, Morgan Tsvangirai, insisted the MDC would not boycott an election if it is called this year.

"I think boycott politics doesn't work," he said. "We will participate without a doubt but it will not be ideal. After all, the majority of Zimbabweans want real change. We can't frustrate the majority of people.

  160. I beg to disagree Zimbabwe and Seychelles are two totally different scenarios however I will concede that a boycott to be effective it has to be properly defined and with a clear vision of its objectives and I doubt as to whether the SNP has the capacity to define these clearly. I am not attempting to deride the leadership of SNP but Wavel's leadership vision is not inspiring, neither does the like of Nicolas Prea, Gervais Henrie, Roger Mancienne, Jean-Francois Ferrari as nice, devoted and sincere activists as they may be. So we may be back to square one eventually, and in time with the mixed signals that will be sent out, I wonder whether the frustrated majority who want real change will be forgiving. A boycott has advantages and disadvantages. Commentators can afford to look at one side only. The leadership must weigh up the advantages and disadvantages.

Let us not dismiss out of hand the experience of other opposition parties with boycotts.

Many people want to do different things, sometimes contradictory. We need to have faith in the leadership. If they decide to go to the National Assembly on Tuesday for however long, they should know that they are speaking for all of us. PL should know that we stand solidly behind our leaders.

  163. Reply to SNP Apologist-

There you go again, everytime we hold you to your word, that comes from your God given mouth, when you are breaking it,you blame me and people like me,for putting the light in your dark little room to expose your teeth of deception.

Let's take this step by step.

Question 1. : Who called for a BOYCOTT of Presidential Elections, because they were rigged (Voters List) and a SHAM because not all parties were allowed to participate? ( On SBC)

Answer 1.: MSR and Christopher Gill.

Question 2. : Who ignored the call?

Answer2. : SNP and Ramkalawan.( on voting day you were filmed saying everything is just fine)

Question 3. : Who called for a united opposition?

Answer 3. : Christopher Gill ( For 3 years since you broke the Alliance).

Question 4. : Who divided the opposition and lost an election, even after sending letters out to tell voters not to vote for Mr. Boulle and Mr. Volcere?

Answer 4. : SNP and Ramkalawan(No one else would stoop so low, like a dog).

In spite of all this mess,

Question 5. : Who called for a BOYCOTT of Presidential Elections results and vowed not to go back to the National Assembly, on SBC, "until electoral reforms were in place, and even had the nerve to get Boulle and Volcere on boards, after calling a vote for these men, a vote for Michel?"

Answer 5 : SNP and Ramkalawan!

Now after all that mess you created,

Question 6. : Who breaks a BOYCOTT and decides they will go back to the National Assembly, now, while Bernard Sullivan sits in a jail because they will lose a little salary pack?

Answer 7. : SNP and Ramkalawan.

Now SNP Apologist, what exactly, do you want me to say when you consider the collective, amount of TRUTH placed before you?

Remember, the PL already came for me twice. You stayed silent.

Remember, the PL came for Dhanjee, you stayed silent.

Now, they come for Bernard Sullivan, you make a little noise, but you still stay on your path to break your word to the People of Seychelles, to save us from tyranny?

When they come for the rest of the opposition, under their autocratic rule, which they will, will you stay silent, and debate in Herminie's chambers, the merits of motions as usual, then go home without doing anything in real terms to improve our chaos?

The most PATHETIC bunch of hypocrites, I have ever known. I am proud to say, I BOYCOTTED the whole elections from day one and supported those who try to null and void the results.I salute the opposition candidates who were brave enough adngentleman enough, not to spit in the center of your eye balls when you said a vote for Boulle or Volcere, is a vote for Michel.

Right now, it is looking like a vote for RAMKALAWAN was the real vote for Michel.

If you cannot hold the BOYCOTT resign. If your hypocrite party cannot hold the BOYCOTT, close down or find a leader that will handle a beast like a beast, and a baby like a baby.

  179. Opponent jailed for Facebook comment

President James Michel is using the court to punish people who opposed him.

Bernard Sullivan, a supporter of the SNP, has been confined to a police jail for nine days on a court order based on a flimsy and unjustifiable accusation.

The police prosecution requested before the Victoria Magistrate’s Court that Sullivan be remanded in custody because of a comment he posted on Facebook on March 28, 2011. The police said the comment was a threat on the life of the President but could not justify why they had not taken any action on it until June 6.

Sullivan’s comment referred to the role of James Michel in the coup d’etat of 1977 and included an opinion that he should be brought to justice for it, but did not make any direct threat.

The police request stated that Sullivan’s incarceration was necessary for them to conduct investigations and to prevent him from interfering with evidence.

Sullivan’s lawyer, Bernard Georges, argued that the request was unjustified because the Facebook page had been copied and was available on the internet outside of Sullivan’s control. There was no other evidence that Sullivan could interfere with, he said, and the police had had over five weeks to take any action.

Georges asked the Court to note that the custody order would be only a means to punish Sullivan pre-emptively, because no charge would be brought or, if brought, would never justify conviction.

Magistrate Brassel Adeline, a former official of Mr. Michel’s ruling ‘Parti Lepep’, ordered remand of nine days in police custody.

Otherwise they should not have called for the boycott, accepted the outcome and carried on with business like usual.

If I cannot expect that much from them then I will come to the conclusion that they would not have been able to run a government.

  195. Reply to "Idiot"-

The foresight you are begging for has been provided by me for Six years, every week, of each month, accurately and with great precision.

    Where have you been?

The the BOYCOTT must remain in place and all parties, must remain in place supporting the BOYCOTT.

No political party or individual must cross the BOYCOTT line until all reforms are in place as per the RAMKALAWAN DECLARATION POST MORTEM on the PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS.

This includes SNP. If they cross the Boyocott line and go back to the National Assembly, we will reasonably conclude, that they are a sell out party, and all opposition voters must abandon the SNP once and for all.

There is already a load of evidence that shows SNP is a sell out party!

I will follow this Boycott. MSR will.

New Party bieng registered SFP has indicated to me they will follow the BOYCOTT unless they change their position and field candidates if circumstance warrant.

So if you are looking for foresight and you do not have it, you must be blind, or an "idiot", as you refer to yourself.

SFP does not accept "idiots" as party members.

SFP will consider your request to support SFP as an "idiot". But you must follow certain procedures.Ex: endorsement of a legal guardian.

  197. Food for taught!!

Why did MSR want access to the voters list and was denied so??

Well answer simply prove that from the list there were loads of people inserted on which are fraudulent, don't tell me you who claim to have read the MSR creed so much have failed to spot this part.

Another thing is why was gill objecting to some people getting citizenship in the papers with sufficient investigations??

Well because gill was making the playing field level for no loops which SNP and the rest hang there boxers right into.

Reality is reality after all and we all know that Christopher Gill and MSR was going and still are the dynamite of seychelles and this is why seychelles freedom party picked him to lead rather than any of the three amigo's who took a boycott when they had already tasted poison.

A friendly joke "misel i envit kat boug kot li enn ladan i ganny met deor laport akoz in war li pe vid en dil dan ver whiskey. So the first one i dir mon annan plis tonton deryer mwan alor vid mon ver plen then he gulped it up,minit apre i tonbe e kreve, lot i dir be wa dir mwan lekel kinn touy li alor i tyonbe ver enkli son dalon e goute. Tou lede i vire e dir vre men pwazon!!

Fourth one went to the station saying monn war li pe met en zafer dan dil, gard i monte e kol ambulance alor vit ki sa servis i vit zot reisi sove, lapolis i dir zot ki 4 triyenm i met son konplent ki zot dir "non mersi zis ler nou al kot li nou pa pou bwar ankor son whiskey na bwar son diven!!

  199. A friendly joke: Four wise guys were invited to a known as “Ti Michel’s House”, upon their arrival there they were offered a glass of whiskey which the host poured himself. Suddenly there was a lot of noise and the Fourth Gentleman was tossed out of the house with an explanation.
So without a care in the world the three remaining Gentleman went ahead to have their drink, the biggest a preacher like said “Am the one in these three with most power so I should have a full glass don’t you think?? So agreeing with him “Ti Michel” gave him his full doze.

The minute he got his glass he gulped it up and down the hatch; just minutes of this he drop down like a sack of potatoes. The curious two incognitos styled remaining looked at him on the floor and stared at each other and said “could it be”!! So into the throat with both glasses they went. Same minute they turned at each other only to say yes it is “poison”!!

Both idiot also came right onto the floor inside “Ti Michel’s” house.
While all this was going on the fourth gentleman that was tossed out, had made it to the nearest police station whereby he issued a complaint that he had seen “Ti Michel” pour a substance like powder into the glasses and when he queried about he was tossed out. The officers took a direct interest and rushed off in their “bokbok” right up to “Ti Michel’s” home, only to find the three men lying on his carpet. Quickly reacting they called the ambulance which fast and furiously made it on time to pump the poison off these three guys chest.

A few days after their release from the central hospital, they reported to the police station. The officer in charge explained to them that they have ti Michel under custody until they can get there statements to put with the forth gentleman’s one to prosecute him. As funny as it may sound all three looked at each other and said “No need officer, because the next time we will go to his house we will only drink wine!!
