Press Release

SESELWA
PUBLICATION

                                                PRESS
                                              RELEASE

After Three (3) months of waiting for the registration of a Publication company,
whose major shareholder is Christopher Gill, SESELWA PUBLICATION has finally
been registered on 01st  March 2011.

Gill has said that SESELWA PUBLICATION's objective is to promote publications of
all forms to develop Seselwa awareness of the role they have to play in their
country.

According to Gill, SESELWA PUBLICATION will now pursue it's licensing of the
publication company to start to print a weekly newspaper. We call on the SLA to
be fair and expeditious in the licensing of SESELWA PUBLICATION, and no
discriminatory conduct on part of the SLA should bar the company from publishing
because Christopher Gill is the major shareholder of the company.

Gill stressed that it is important to document restrictions on Freedom of the
Press and Free Speech in Seychelles, and once done so, it will have an impact on
aid Seychelles Government under PL receives for the combat of piracy and other
infrastructural assistance, if information of violations are channeled to the
right organizations.

                                                     End.

  11. REaly nice to hear that, but MSR have to try also to get a radio station and a television station.

Why?beacause not all Seselwa like to read papers but most Seselwa like to watch and listen to news.

Gill what about bringing Radio Seselwa in the future?

  12. Reply to Critics-

The business name "SESELWA", was not accepted by STATE House. They insisted that we use SEYCHELLOISE, which we refused.

Hence the adding of the word magazine.

The name is what it infers. A journal for SESELWA and will be cutting edge in their defense and promotion in life, sports, human rights, cost of living, patrimony, and politics.

VIOAS promotes Arab interests in the region and so does People and People plus.

  13. In that case, put SESELWA in big letters and MAGAZINE in very small letters below it. That will outwit the dimwit at State House. In time, the paper will be known as SESELWA for short.

  14. Good work there. We shoud also prepare for the future rather than the upcoming election since we had liitle chance to contest with the so called main political groups.

  15. Without wanting to diminish Christopher's effort, I would have gone for something like " L'Echo Sesel", "Lavwa Sesel". Or better still, Christopher could have opened it up and invite suggestions from bloggers/readers?

  16. Reply to Radio Stattion-

I agree. Any means to get information to the Public will assist our cause.

We have done the work on plan on the radio station.

Internet technology will even get a radio through to phones. Dynamics of the technology are changing everyday and corner the Communists with their Sr. 800,000.00 ;licensing fees and their big antennas.

  17. We could deagree on the name, but in the of the day the contents would be the most important thing.

  18. Guys,

The problem here is that your newspaper/magazine has to have an appeaking name that is neutral, one that everyone can associate themselves with. Most of all its contents must bring out the light on all issues, even those made by others that are good and beneficial for the country. I think a good name would be Lavwa Sesel or something that is a clear opinion of the people, all people.

As soon as you have anything with "Seselwa", "Rasin" or the likes of it, the government will associate it with racism or xenophobia. You must in other words have a name that they cannot do anything with.

The best thing you could do however is give it a name that people normally would associate with the PL so that their supporters woud be reached. Trust me, the PL have been doing it for years with yours so why not kick back?

  19. DG,
We refused to be dictated by Pp,this is a communist mentality which consist of the belief that anything to be done must be decided by the communist polittburo ,andc if one does not agree so they are racism, against the governemnt etc.Seselwa is what we are and proud to be:,Pp would like us to probably say Seselwa are Arabs ,but we are not.Why deos Pp find it necessary to accuse MSR as Racism, becuase of Pp illegallity.Pp has sold our passports, our land to foreigners, and want us to accept this a "fait a complis"
which we will not beucase they are illegal.

Now it seems Pp cannot make the different between RACISM AND PATRIOTISM.Here is the different once again.Racism is against a particular race of people,it is a belief in the superiority and inferiority of various groups:A good example to illustrate that is the CAS SYSTEM in India which is a form of racism.PATRIOTSM is about a particular country of people and their dedication to it(as their home).Patriotism is what binds us together through a shared-sense of belonging and a desire to defend what we all have in common, and without the glue of shared national identity a society fragments. As you can see the two cannot be in any case be compared against each other,i repeat myself, one is about person(s) and the other one is about a country as a whole.Indeed without patriotism there would be no one in the Armed Forces,it is patriotism that in the first place brought our young men and wemon in joining the force, putting their lives at risks, fighting pirates etc.If you don^t believe me ask those serving they will tell you.Of course Pp will tell us that patriotism equates racism, but that tacit,Pp is known to understand things to the contary of what they really are.The whole point of destroying patriotism is exactly designed for the destruction of nationality.Denigrated and vilified an entire culture on the other.Instead of Pp calling others racists why does Michel just abide by the constitution that he sworn the oath to follow when he took office, then he won't have to explain the unexplanable.

  20. J D'Arc, sometimes in life one has to be patient and resourceful and make concessions. Just like the Registartion of MSR as a political party has been delayed they can also delay a paper on account of the name. I believe that one has to keep one's resources to fight the important fights. Give a little here and there without losing sight of the objective. The objective is not to gain power, but to educate the people so that they make the right choice when given the opportunity.

  21. Reply DG-

We like the name "SESELWA" magazine, because it is a paper for us, about us, and our place in our country.

We do not intend on using trickery to convince SPPF supporters to come to us. That is SNP style.

We are straightforward, and will bas our position on facts. We will strive to educate all our people and use all means to do so.

As we do remain factual and straightforward and intelligent in delivery, non Seychellois will also buy and support our paper simply because we make sense and good reading. This reading block does not need trickery to convinve them to buy a paper.

Judging from the response in the grassroots over the distribution of the 10,000 manifestos, that is giving Michel and PL problems now, we believe we are on the right track.

  23. Vox,
I could agree on many of our points but here the fact is that when Pp delays the registration of MSR it is not and never was about its names but about it strengh and what it stands for .Pp knows if it register MSR now it will have access to the voter lists where most of the frauds take place and thereby it will be exposed and probably deprive Pp from holding on to power. We do not have anything to give to pp communist party who has already taken for over three decades all it wanted without ever asking for them. Now wee want to just have back what belong to us namely our country.

  24. As you wish guys, your call and "your" paper as you put it. With this "your/my" attitude, you are however practising SNP style at its best. I may sound socialistic here, but when educating others the "we/our" approach is often the best one. This also applies to newspapers and magazine. The way I see it, this will become just another mouthpiece for the Rasinists, not one for all Seselwa. I wish you'd listen to Vox and myself, but ok, your paper as you put it.

  25. Whetever the name of the newspaper, as with evrything of that nature..not evryone will be in agreement.. at least we will
    have something else to read!

Its content will be what it will be judge don anyway.. Good luck and hoping for more truth and facts on events in the country, political and otherwise..since I live in the US..
Objectivity, integrity and good journalism is what will be important..and seeing things from yet a different view will be most welcome. This is the essence of democracy .different newspapers projecting different views of the same issue so we are all informed and can make our own opinion..

  26. For SPP they have won the WAR (SMR not a contestant in the election) and we have won a small battle (a Magazine). But in the long run there is a likely shift. Be very concerned

  27. DG- When you say we sound like SNP you offend us all.

The name has been chosen and registered already.

We agreed to open up future names for future publications for a contest as you suggested.

Since I have volunteered to hold 80% of the responsibility of this bag,if you want to share it, please do come forward and make a commitment.

  28. Hello Chris,

My apologies if you were offended. Wasn't my intention whatsoever, merely a comment based on the feeling of exclusion of others. I just thought that a name that appealed to all would have given better scoring. Then again I may be wrong. I appreciate teh invitation though, but alas cannot do so for economical reasons although I would have loved to be part of something down that line. Anyhow, good luck with the venture. :-)

Comparing MSr with SNP is really an offence, becuase the truth is that MSR is a guiding light while SNP is the pawn of PP.RAm its leader has managed one thing so far to shoot himself in the foot so many time and yet he has not learnt the lesson so we expect he would deliver one more failed shot soon.
