Eyewitness News

Seychelles Electoral Commissioner Gappy in collusion with Party Lepep to stop MSR party registration
It would seem that the MOUVMAN SESELWA RASIN (MSR) has become James Michel and his Parti Lepep's worst nightmare! The party has filed for registration since 6 months and it is only recently that the Seychelles Electoral Commissioner, Hendricks Gappy has moved to prevent this from happening. Not content with blocking the registration (twice already), the State House sponsored thugs were ordered to break in and ransack the party headquarters at Docklands. Fear and intimidation is now the weapon being used to curtail democracy and free speech! MSR has turned out to be the bee in the bonet of the mighty Parti Lepep who fears a real credible opposition that is exposing all their evil deeds and threatening its political survival.
Herewith a press release and letter to to the Commonwealth Secretariat sent by MSR

  1. Good job Chris ,you have again shown us the quality of leadership you posses by your actions. An effective leader just don^t talk the talk but walk the walk PP.

The use of initimidation has been at the pinacle of Pp communist regime for the last thirty five years that all they know. The use of intimidation and lawlessness is both hirific and shameless as it a clear reflection of totaritian tendencies of the Pp communist system. The fact that PP has restored to systematic intimidation as a official governemnt policy show the extent to which it is willing to indulge in illegal activities just to ensure it survival. The recent vadalism on the office of MSR ba statehouse paid criminals is a clear illustration of the desperassion of pp regime.
The intended outcome of the practice of initimidation and lawlessness is a social environment of increase fear.

But PP the state of artificial democracy cannot survive anymore.
You can play all your communist cards but in the end democracy will win.

And Pp intimidation would not deter us in fact it makes us more determine than ever.

MSR will be the party to count with in the future of this country whether you like it or not.We will succeed as MSR is not a fake opposition but real.

And remember PP,Sesel pou Seselwa!Vive MSR,vive Seselwa Rasin.

  2. It is good to finally see some leadership emerge from a political party in Seychelles.

Mr. Gill, I wish you the best of luck in your future political endeavours. It takes great courage to take on James Michel and his state funded party that has been in power for over 3 decades. You and your party will need the support of many Seychellois if you are to succeed in removing the Party Lepep from power. I am sure that James Michel will continue to rig the election just like his predecessor Albert Rene. We need outside agencies to remove power from Hendricks Gappy who is no doubt laughing all the way to the bank with his new found wealth and privileges. One man should not control the electoral process but Party Lepep, ALbert and Michel planned it this way so that they could control everything to do with elections.

May God shine his light on our country so that the people can finally remove the scourge of SPUP, SPPF and Party Lepep from our lives once and for all.

THank you Mr. Gill and good luck.

A disenchanted SNP supporter who will give you his vote.

  4. Well done Christopher, the fear factor that the sppf/lepep used to weild on the population is dimishing thanks to people like you who dare to stand up to them. Fear and intimidation are their weapons to silence all dissenting voice, do not let them get to you, they are a bunch of cowards. Break ins, thefts, arson, murders, bullying, torture are their methods, they are fighting for their own survival because they know if they lose at the next election they are finished. As time goes by and the people realised they are being take for a ride, they find their grip on powere diminishing day by day, they resort to despicable deeds such as killing or committing other abominable acts against their opponents. Don't let this deter you, they are more afraid of you, you should perceivere Chris and get those scumbags out of power

In the final analysis, Malborough House has come to the conclusion that "oune Kapot avek Lass Pik" and your farago of verbiage can only by described as "bloody murder by language."

  9. What is your problem with Sesel pou Seselwa. When Indians claim that India was for Indians and not for British before independnece it was okay,Or America for American,Japan for Japanese etc it is okay, when Seselwa say Sesel pou Seselwa you have a problem with it.Shoud we say Sesel pou Khalifa or Arabs.

The immigrants you talking about are not immgrants in the proper meaning of the word, but rather foreigner workers brought illegally to our shores by PP to :artificially modify our society, etc but mostly to be gifted our passports in order that Pp can use them as protential voters in elections with the sole purpose to keep Pp artificilally on power.A good example is all those Hindus marching our streets each year who are claiming themselves seselwa though they have nothing in common with this country and its people.

Seychelles was never a potential immigrant destination as USA,Canada,Europe,Singapur,Australia etc ,PP has brought in those foreigners as part of its communist tactics to rod our future and make us second class citizen in one own country with the hope to hold on power for iternity. And ,seychelles has immigrant law in place if those who came here did not conform with our laws then as any democratic country it is a duty toinforce the rule of law and make it respected.
In contary to Pp communist party who think the rule of law is PP and its lackeys.

  11. jDark,

No problem with Sesel pou Seselwa. Problem with Sesel pou BIGOTwa ki apel zot lekor Rasinwa. MSR say Sesel pou Seselwa but mean target immigrants.

Sesel was never a destination for immigrants? what are you the original dodo lived for thousand years on the island in the Indian Ocean?

Immigrants are not people who come to work? For you what are good immigrants jDark, one who comes for bogus asylum and to live on benefits?

And by the way MSR says Sesel is not Kreol but Seselwa i.e anybody who live anywhere in the world in 1976 who consider himself Seselwa or their decendants! What a 3 degrees definition!! :-)

  12. Maybe the definition of good immigrants are those who come to work and contribute to society in addition to abiding the laws of the state and not come to merely exploit the good then sod off to their next convenient destination.

Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Expression Freedom of Association are fundamental human rights.

By respecting these rights, you allow an individual or group, to celebrate in their humanity.

By tolerating the Speech, expression and the association, if they are not breaking laws, you are celebrating your own humanity.

To do other wise, you reduce your own humanity and your victims.

Hence why we refer to killers, as animals. To torturers as savages and uncivilized, to people that give the orders to break into an office for documents, that they can get off the internet as blunted communist idiots out of touch with reality.

The pillar of Free Speech is this: "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend your right to say it".

Either Seychelles is a democracy or it is not. Right now, it is looking very much like a tin pot Commmunist Junta Government led by a former Colonel of the Army and former Coup Leader, supported by Sheik Khalifa Al Zayed Bin Al Nayan financially.

Your democratic credentials are fading fast, faster then you could pick the lock to the MSR office door.

  17. Comment To Jeanne Dárc-

Sesel Pou Seselwa is a problem because Michel's strategy is to sell Seychelles.

Recent decision to allow Eden Island operate an illegal hotel pool legally is an example of that.

Selling Seychelles to Khalifa is another example.

I call on all Seychellois who love their country to sign off with SESEL POU SESELWA on each comment.

Greet each other everyday, with "SESEL POU SESELWA" until our buyers understand, they can give whatever exist under the sun, Seychelles is not for sale, and our citizenship is not for sale.

An interesting background article in afrol.com says it all and confirms the failures of the past, the present situation and potential for the future in addition to clearly showing our vulnerabilities that the PL must take seriously. They survived the financial JAM and managed to creep out and stumbled back on their feet, but they cannot afford another one.

    http://www.afrol.com/features/36895

What I like best about this one is the truth about Rene's failure and JAM's continuous spending spree after taking over the mess. The article says it all. I just hope they've finally learned from it. After all at the end of the day I don't think the Seychellois really care who is in charge as long as the machinery runs like a well balanced and well lubricated engine.

But no, I don't call the PL SNPL, it's SNP I refer to as SNPL.

Thanks to Albert Rene and James Michel who took him under their wings and thought him how to manipulate the voter registry, create new Seselwa who never existed before, forged ID cards so that underage people could vote and a whole lot of other fraudulent moves.

Gappy is as corrupt as the rest of the Party Lepep high-level officials and should be judged accordingly. One day when the people of SEychelles find out that Gappy was behind this voter fraud, he must be punished with a life imprisonment sentence. He can then rot in jail with Albert, Michel, the Savy's, Adam and Mukes and Changleng.

Now it is pretty clear why he his associating himself with Khallifa so that he will be the royal family in the seychelles has it has been the status quo for the past thirty years. Sorry SPPF the world of intimidation is not a norm in this world any more. Do whatever you want your days are coming and all your evils will be exposed and SPPF will be in the history and their leadership will be behund bars or in exile. Dictatorship do not last very long and the truth will prevail. Thank today we have Mr Christopher Gill who is presenting himself as a true leader who will see us through a just society and a real democracy. What a disappointment for the opposition who has falling inlove with the material world and has failed to deliver pretending that a non confrontation approach to the SPPF tactic would serve them right but the same approach by the former DP leader Mr Mancham was seen to be a very weak tactics. Poor man he was vilified and back stabbed today the same apprroached is being followed by SNP to the letter. Shame on you and the december i will make sure that i switch my radio during the intervention on the budget because your hypocrisy is too good to be true. You SNP you might defer with Mr Gill's approached but when illegal and non constitutional tactics are being used by the party in power there should be no compromised on democratic principle. To express your solidarity with Mr Gill and the proof that you firmly believed inthe rule of law and due process. You fool SPPF you are doing MR GIll more right than wrong because people is asking what is the problem with Mr Gill's party that is sending shiver down the spine of the SPPF leaderships and what Mr Gill is advocating this is what bordinary people is continually saying to the fake Seychelloise when they tried to assert their authority to on us. SO WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM WITH SPPF what is your moto since none of your past moto were sincere to our people. Going from more dollars in our pocket to become a nation of beggars with our dignity erodding every single day with the arrival of the Antonov of the camel that excrete golden feaces from Arabia. Sorry those who do not agree with Mr Gill we are heading to a sham election engineered in the Office of Gappy and the SPPF leadership because they do not believe in real democracy and they think that the people of Seychelles are their commodity for election time.

  38. The picture on the Nation today of Michel and some Sheik is bogus. SBC TV showed the same thing last night, pretending that Michel was on a working visit to UAE.

Michel did not fly to UAE and Dubai for a state visit to discuss piracy issues. He flew there to watch the Formula One race at Yas Marina in Abut Dhabi. The tag on the Sheik shows it all and the picture was taken at Yas Marina F1 circuit.

The circus was yesterday morning at the airport when Michel landed, having flown first class on Emirates Flight No. 705 from Dubai. There were at least 15 cars waiting at the VIP lounge but the circus was at the luggage carousel that had been taken over by little slaves from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and State House, each with a bib that had "Protocol" written on it. Even the water pourer was there picking suitcases off the carousel for the President and his entourage.

How sad is that for Seychelles? Michel gallavanting off to Formula One races courtesy of Sheik Khalifa Kaka while the people of Seychelles suffer without water. And he had a gun on June 5th 1977 stating that he was removing James Mancham because the latter was always travelling and selling Seychelles to the Arabs! How ironic is that?

  41. SNP has been attacking MSR for not being certified as a Political Party.

The bigger picture is that by not certifying MSR, Gappy has unknowingly exposed how undemocratic the processes in Seychelles really are. He has single handedly exposed that after 17 years, we are still a dictatorship that has no tolerance for opposing beliefs to the ruling party.

I have only articulated what Gappy has highlighted in the Letter to Secretary General of the Commonwealth, a letter that should have been written by Mr. Ramkalawan himself as Leader of the Opposition, anytime over the last year.

The incident of breaking into MSR office and taking modems and hard copy files, shows how desparate PL is and how insecure they are even if the political playing field is not levelled to their advantage.

It is a moment that all Opposition should be taking careful not of and seeking common ground to remove a common enemy of the People.

Common ground is not found when one seeks appointments to State House to settle matters internally, with a Petition in hand..... that is part of the SHAM ELECTION process.

Because MSR plays on and exploits and tries to legitimize, the otherwise naive and charming old world bigotry that exists in our lovely backwaters.

But MSR chooses to give the people some immigrants to feed on instead.

  54. Reply to all Collaborators-

Your main line of defense to MSR has been that the ideology of MSR is racist based.

People paper has taken this line without intellectually being in gear similar to many comments on the blog.

SNP Collaborators take this line as well without much thought as well. Patex however, has ID SNP as a National (everywhere) party if you will and MSR as a Nationalism movement. He is correct in the distinction.

But none of Collaborators say which group or race is MSR racist towards. Nazism was racist towards the Jews and non Aryan races.

You are all dead silent and your silence exposes the fallacy behind your sophistry or half truths to defend yourselves collectively.

It also exposes your desperation collectively, as you have become exposed to selling our Patrimony and selling of Citizenship liberally as a means to raise funds to pocket and fuel corruption in Seychelles, making it the in the Top 50 Rankings of Transparency International "Most Corrupted States in the World".

You do not say that Seselwa Rasin come from all races, Black, White, Indians, Chinese, French, English. We are a melting pot of races and cultures, but we are also a distinct recognized people under the United Nations Charter, recognized as a distinct people, with distinct language, and culture.

You give the impression that we Seselwa Rasin project ourselves as some superior race. We never said we were better then any other peoples of the world.

Yet, you are silent for the importation of Apartheid on Eden Island to Seychelles.

  56. Twister,

Eden island is not apartheid land. Coloured people including seselwa own property on Eden island. If you are calling it apartheid land because majority of property owners are from South Africa. Let me remind you apartheid ended in south Africa over 15years ago. I have visited island on several occasions be it to take a drink at the boardwalk or to watch fishing competition weigh in and have not Been asked to wear the pas you are referring to. If staff need to wear it there is mo problem with that. The residential area is private property and they have all right to stop people roaming around if they have no business. Have you not blocked off access to your property. Finally if that short memory of yours can be stretched back a little further you will remember that when Eden island was reclaimed from the see there were no waterways or beaches. All these were created artificially by Eden island developers within the area they purchased therefore has all right to remain private property. Same way the artificial beach was created at Mahe beach which is also private property.

  58. Twister From Eden Island-

Says that the beaches created are private. Eden is silent on the waterways and I assume it thinks that is private aswell.

Jeanne Dárc correctly highlights that the Island was built with tax payers money.

To extend on that thought, it was the Lehman Brother Bonds that Seychelles defaulted on that was rescheduled to create Eden Island.

We will pay for it for generations.

Now Twister from Eden says the beaches and waterways are private.

They are private because the corrupted government of SPPF gave them to you in a deed. The Deed breached the Constitution and laws of Seychelles, that does not make your private beach and private waterways legal.

Regarding Apartheid, yes, it ended in South Africa 17 years ago. But the idea and conceptualization of Apartheid, in the sense, that one can live separate from the community and have full independence from townships not far, in Seychelles case, housing estates, is emmulated well by Eden Island. You even have a gate, cones, on a dedicated public road across the bridge, to stop traffic and verify who enters- who exits.

Badges are worn by Seychellois to move about. If it looks like apartheid , it looks like apartheid, it must have some traits of Apartheid.

No Seychellois should have to wear a badge to move about in his Country.

This violates the Right to Freedom of Movement protected under our Constitution.

  59. Talk about half truths, The Americans did not allow Seselwa to roam freely in the Tracking Station or the Sattelite Club. That was ok?

Talk about half truths, Eden Island is a private gated community. This concept exist even in America, its part of capitalism. So the staff and non-hosted visitor must wear ID badge. Seselwa must wear ID badge in many places of work where access is controlled e.g. the Airport, New Port, Bank, All inclusive resort, Seybrew, IOT etc.

Vagrancy and right to roam are two end of the same freedom. See if you can exercise your freedom to "hang out" in Malibu and some gated community in Miami Florida.

As to Bigotry and racism, yes we know the MSR document stays silent. But the MSR supporter does not, and the MSR leader does not make any real effort to sanction them. In fact he comes to defend them. The action speaks louder than the words. Like they say give a man enough rope and he will hang himself! Enjoy the rope of your freedom of speech.

And as have been said before you don't have to be of a different race to be racist toward it. Hutu and Tutsi were from same race, but by god the hutu militia was bigoted and racist.

We see through your writing and posts you cling to straws to survive the debate when truth is placed at your naked feet.

You can twist and call people names, but Truth defeats you easily.

Defeat-1. Silent on the transfer of beaches and water ways which the people of Seychelles paid for and Constitution and laws prevent.

Defeat -2. invoking badge requirement at a colonial british US military installation in 1964 and ports, airports, etc... What kind of residential community with Tourism component requires locals to wear ID badges with pictures and names on it? Tourism Prison Camp? This is your version of being part of the community?

This is the exact point I make when I assert that Apartheid is being imported into Seychelles through Eden Island.

We Seychellois must say no to this arrogance.

Perhaps some may say return you the favor and you have to wear a badge on the main island to ID you as an Eden Island Resident? Two wrongs do not make a right, but we will draw the line.We are not dogs or lessor humans.

Defeat 3. You say MSR is silent on attacking any Race. You are right. It is intentionally silent, because we Seychellois, have no racism in our thought or mind set. It is you Eden Island Twist, that has imported racism into Seychelles, and advised the corrupted gov. you sponsor to do the same.

By invoking racism wherein it does not exist, you have validated your own racist thinking and imported it into Seychelles.

Now you attempt to balme me and MSR for having a racist agenda.

That is like calling Mandela an oppressor so you locked him up on Robin Island.

It is like calling Aun Sun Suu Kyii a danerous Freedom fighter, so the Junta in Burma confines her to residence for years.

  65. Twister From Eden Island-

The overall scheme has a separatist tone to it. Hence my personal distaste for Eden Island. It has an artificial ambiance about it.

Secondly, there will be many local interest taking up Eden Island bit by bit, simply because it will not succeed on the merit of its Project memorandum. Vijay hacking out the commercial complex under Heegar's nose is one example. There will be others to follow. However, in no sense is it Heegar's intention to include these players, they are trust upon Eden by market forces, and reality.

The deal made for the illegal apartment pool under Eden Managment now sanctioned by PL is another example.

Now, back to your water ways and beach scam, I uncovered in an article.

Even if you create a beach and water way, it cannot belong to you. We have a highwater mark law in Seychelles, and 10 meters from the highwater mark is public access and public property. It cannot be sold nor beaconed.

I only ask how did Patrick La Blache who works at Lands, and knows the law, signed over these public assets to the Eden Island Group?

But we in MSR who are not just overseas, but in Seychelles well dug in, know the details, and we will rectify them at the right time.

Your Racism arguments from colonial and slavery days, only show that you are the racist,.not myself, or any MSR supporter.

Answer the question: "Who are we racist towards as you hint?"

Question: Is it racist in your mind that someone is smart enough to uncover your scams? Does that offend you?

When Eden Island did not pay stamp duty worth Rs. 35 Million, is it racist to you to raise that subject?

When Eden Island pays for its lease from actual sales of apartments only at 17.5% of the sale, is it Racist to mention that soft deal?

Finally, I am not Mandela, or Aun Suun Su Kyi. I am Christopher Gill. These great people do dwarf me. But there life examples and experiences, show us all the difference between right and wrong. The value of honesty and human decency over corruption, graft and indivisual opportunism.

When we see those good values, and choose them over the other lower values, we are all better for it. Our country improves aswell, it is that, which will give our people a better life, not a badge to the Boardwalk to Eden Island.

You say Eden cost $7 Million to build and Gov. Benefited $39 Million and other benefits indirectly I assume.

This is partially correct and hides the reality of Eden Island in Seychelles for your own purpose.

The $7 Million was at 10% interest. It has not been paid and grace of 7 years to pay it. The interest on the $7 Million is already $7 Million. So that $7 Million is actually $14 Million. In 7 years, when you make the first installment is will be up to$19 Million, eating into your figure of $39 Million. So Eden will have earned you only $20 Million in 7 years in real rental, because you have no interest payments to offset non paid rental fees. Eden Still owes $10 Million since the contract is for $49 Million, not $39 Million.

Additionally, Eden is given hotel license for aprtment pool. No government in its right mind gives one company the key to the Tourism Industry and destroys the Industry by breaking a Project Memorandum, which binds all parties to help it survive. This is not racism it is common sense.

Finally, Eden Island has had concessions that you do not subtract to your revenue figures and you allow it preferential status. To highlight that is not racism, it is a fact of our reality.

In reality, Eden has been given such a soft deal, one needs to ask who is really behind Heegar, the Communist Junta Bosses like Rene and Michel and Savy Brothers, I presume?

The $39 Million is lease payments, your nominal value point is rubbish.

We only take PL word for it that it has been paid. Now you produce the reciepts to show that it has.

Eden still owes $10 Million in payments. Its new loan from PTA of $10 Million could pay that, but it will have to spread that $10 Million on construction of villas, it hopes to sell to pay Vijay, and buy a $10 Million DESALINATION plant to ensure there is water on Eden Island, according to PUC.

Now with a sanctioned illegal hotel pool, ask how much capital flight will leave Seychelles in revenue?

First time buyers of Eden will not buy into a second unit, they will want to cut and run if they can.

This is a very revealing statement.

It shows how half educated Bigotwa is. Because he is leadership material for the PL, it is highly dangerous for Seychelles.

The generalized concept of one's rights stop where another's right begins refers/ applies to property, movable and immovable and the bodily person. It is not that same standard or rule to beliefs, ideas, expression, or speech.

Speech is controlled by laws of Defamation, Libel and Slander.

There is no common law rule for control of "beliefs" in modern democracies. The word Democracy is closely knit to the right to hold any beliefs. Why? beliefs are an integral part of humanity, whether they are good or bad, Government is not the judge, the people are the judge.

Historically, Germany out lawed Neo NAZI as a precondition to joining the world of free nations after WWII.They had good reason to do so, since they had to cleanse the conscious of an entire generation after mudering over 30 million people.

MSR policy is not based on Xenophobia. The Manifesto of MSR is based on love for Seychelles, and Seselwa Rasin place in their country, recognized by the United Nations.

Everyone that signs up to MSR has a Manifesto. Those are their beliefs in relation to MSR.

However, MSR is open to new ideas and will debate them as they arise.

If someone is Racist or Xenophobic and has signed up to MSR, those additional individual beliefs, should rightly be attributed to that individual, not to MSR.

We know there are many confirmed Racists in SPPF and SNP. That is not a secret.

I imagine many organizations have Racist elements, but the Party, MSR does not advocate or promote Racism.

In fact, I believe MSR should in the Seychellois tradition, denounce racism where ever it may surface as a policy.

It does not apply to those that buy passports overseas or Mafia friends that come through the door here and there does it?

The compounded effect of even 100 per year, is astounding.

Obviously the person that thinks that is reasonable also thinks a Rs. 30,000,000.00 is reasonable, as a Rs. 12,000,000.00 is reasonable as pensions for politicians that failed Seychelles.

The problem exposed, is that some Seychellois think it is ok to sell our Patrimony 100 passports at a time.

Even 10 at a time or even 1 at a time, it is not acceptable.

Example- SNP call themselves KARYA, is that Racist? If so, are they racist towards their supporters?

    Example- SPPF call themselves GOLAN.

Is that Racist? If so, are they racist towards their supporters and Gran Golan, there leader?

I should think not. There is no racism in Seychellois thinking.

What is happening to your train of thought is that you are fighting the acceptance of intellectual defeat and you cannot accept it.

As Rene knows, once someone has intellectually defeated you on the political field, it is only a matter of time before you lose power, because intellectual defeat will translate into lose of confidence, which PL is facing under Michel.

Hence Rene's haggling with Michel over MSR. Rene knows, that even with all of Khalifa's money and all of Eden Islands apartments and villas on sale, MSR will defeat Michel and PL. Rene knows it is a question of time, not if, !

You too " Pest " defender have been defeated hence you cling to the Race straw as your last straw, but it is a weak, weak straw, especialllly since, you have not and cannot Identify which Race, MSR is racist towards as you weakly assert.

Sometimes you even jump to Religion in desperation, MSR has BAHAI, Catholics, Born Agains, Protestants, Hindu, Muslims, non believers, so even your straws are slipping from your hands.

  88. And for sure Gill cannot bring himself to condemn bigots and racists. Instead he offers more and more ludicrous excuses for them. So PESTS is KREOLE thinking is it?

We wait with bated breath for your next explanation for the statement "WE MUST EXTERMINATE THESE PEST".

Pray Messiah Gill, what is the KREOLE thinking for EXTERMINATE?

  90. Gill what people call themselves is different to what you call others with venom and malice.

E.g Fifty Cents call himself and his friends nigger, this is very different to when KKK call them nigger. Get it?

  91. Exellent, profound and high impact politics here that has the potential to shape democracy in the seychelles beyond was is currently weakly and poorly excericised here in this country..

The bottom line is that we want to have fair and legitimate elections and this needs external pressure and nothing less.In the end, as I have mentioned earlier we should view this exclusion not as a barrier but really as an opportunity to longer term goals.

    Keep it up

  92. Au contraire, Stronger democracy at the cost of our moral compass?

Hmmmmm not a problem for some if a moral compass is optional, or dispensable based on circumstance.

Ironically the bigotry demonstrated by MSR folks has only added legitamacy to the argument that we must reform slowly.
